I’ve had many folks ask me over the years “How do I hear the voice of God? How do I know if it’s intuition or ego?” This is such an important and valuable question to ask! The answer is, the ego will always have a fear based conversation, the ego voice has attitude and judgment in it. Whereas the voice of the Higher Holy Spirit Self, our Guides and Angels is usually devoid of attitude of any kind. It can sometimes feel insistent and strong, but it doesn’t ever feel opinionated.
So often if we want to validate our opinions we’ll be confused about the guidance, intuition and insight we’re receiving. If we’re truly interested in hearing the guidance then we simply relax into the listening. Open your mind to whatever it is – allow it to at least land in your mind and ripple out into your awareness before you give it the heave ho!
On many, MANY occasions I’ve been in a counseling or teaching situation with someone and I get very strong guidance from that person’s guides and angels of what they’d like me to tell the person. Sometimes it feels like the Angels are so “loud” and strong, but it’s really more that they are clear and I’m willing to listen and the person they have a message for has not been honoring the guidance they’re getting. When that is the case, so often, when I speak the guidance the person says “I get that thought all of the time! Every day! For years now!” This has been my experience countless times.
I have had to learn not to go into judgment and think “they SHOULD listen! They SHOULD act on their guidance.” My opinion isn’t helpful to anyone. I do the best I can to share the guidance over and over again in several ways and as often as not, the person will say “I don’t believe it” or “I don’t trust it” or “I’m too afraid to follow that” or “I don’t want to do that.”
Look into your heart and mind and see if you can discover the place where you have been hearing the message clearly, but you have been ignoring the guidance. Cultivate the willingness to hear with new ears.
If you won’t take the steps that will lead to your happiness, no matter how many times you hear the message, then it’s best to STOP COMPLAINING that you’re not happy. Accept that you are not willing or ready and do not look to blame others for your unhappiness. This practice alone will noticeably increase your peace.
The amazing life of Love and Joy that is everyone’s destiny is only going to be experienced by those who are willing to listen and follow. Those who live in muck and mire of their own opinions are eliminating their possibility for happiness. There is no other way to peace. Peace is the way.
Can you at least be more willing to be more willing?

I AM willing to know myself as FREE!
Hi Jennifer;
I have been taking the current ACIM classes & recently signed up for your “Daily Expresso”. Just returned from a business trip & was going through my emails. When I read this particular prayer, it was validation to something that happened to me this past weekend.
My husband & I went up to the Puget Sound area of Washington state for a business trip. We have family there as well. We felt that this area was where we were now meant to be, but it would mean leaving the SF Bay Area, our children and grandkids. My brother-in-law wanted us to go with him to a Shabbath service to hear this amazing female cantor sing. So, off we went in spite of it being 30 years inside a Temple.
It felt good to be at a Shabbath service & during the service I “saw” the possibilities of reconnecting with my Jewish roots would mesh with the Eastern spiritual path I follow. Watching the devotion of the cantor, I fought hard not to break down; it touched my heart & soul. At this point, I heard a voice gently whispering inside my head to let go of my fear of moving away from my children & grandchildren. If I was really going to walk my talk about letting go to serve the Divine in my thought, word & deed, this was the next step. My (internal, unspoken) fear was, in fact holding them back. I was flooded with peace. A few minutes later my husband leaned over to me & whispered: “The cantor’s (devotional) energy reminds me of you.” Talk about confirmation…then I come home & read this beautiful prayer from you. Thank you for YOUR devotion to serve. It affects many.
