Webster’s Dictionary tells us that contemplation is meditation on spiritual things as a form of private devotion – and – a mystical awareness of God’s presence. When I take time to be contemplative I am looking into God’s nature as it is expressed in my own being.
Sacred scripture states, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Many spiritual teachings affirm that “it is done unto you as you believe.” Therefore I must always be examining my thinking, my intention, my attention. If I don’t like what I see in my life then it is a call for contemplation.

The more I invest in being contemplative the happier I am. It’s one of my very favorite ways to enjoy my life!

Today I anchor a daily practice of contemplation. For at least three minutes, I relax. I breathe and I listen to my inner guidance. I listen for my heart’s desire to sing its song within me and guide me, inspire me. I know that my time of contemplation feeds my soul and restores me. As I am restored I have more love to give. The more love I give, the more love I receive. My moments of sincere contemplation and communion with my soul are part of my practice of nonviolence and my commitment to honoring my essence. In a moment’s time I change my life. In turn, my life and my commitment to nonviolence moves the world in a direction of peace.
