In yesterday’s class with Colin Tipping he pointed out to us that the person who behaves like a martyr is someone who is identified with being a victim. In the mind of the martyr, playing the victim is how they will feel worthy of Love and kindness. Many people don’t feel that they are worth loving without conditions. They believe they have to earn the Love and somewhere in their mind they know that it’s not true – they know it’s manipulating and unkind to martyr themselves.
Martyrdom is unkind to the martyr and the one they’re relating to. It perpetuates unkindness.
Do you ever feel that people owe you something when you do things for them?
If you do, then there’s some healing of the martyr that you can attend to.
The belief that people owe you something is really a set up for suffering and disappointment. It’s an attachment in the form of expectation and all attachments create suffering.
Are you willing to shake loose of these attachments? Let the Holy Spirit do the heavy lifting and join us in class this week! Today is my Homework class and I can’t wait!
