Self-pity is just about the most self-destructive pattern I know of in our human experience. It literally sucks the life out of our life! I’ve had my fair share of pity parties, so I know exactly how intensely painful it is. Feeling sorry for myself is a total denial of the Truth of my life and being. It’s like digging my own grave and lying in it. Ugh.

If you’re ever feeling drawn to feel sorry for yourself do everything you can to go the other way. Once you start down that slope it is like a quagmire – like quicksand or a whirlpool of self-destructive thinking.

Fastest path out of that mess is gratitude! Start offering gratitude and don’t stop until you feel better. Make offering of gratitude. Make prayers. Watch laughter yoga videos on youtube! Whatever you can do to not go down that slope is a tremendous act of Love and you’ll always be grateful you went the other way!
