Intuition

Why would we pray to have more Clarity [1], more insight, more intuition, and then not follow it?  That would be just plain crazy, wouldn’t it?  And yet, that’s what I’ve done SO MANY TIMES.  Live and learn, I say!  Only, I’m not interested in learning as much as I used to be.  I’m more interested in remembering the truth [2] that sets me free then in learning through experience.

To follow up on my blog from the day before [3], I made it to Philadelphia and my plane to Maine was cancelled so I stayed at a Hilton by the airport that American Airlines provided.

I made it to Maine just fine yesterday morning, but my bags didn’t come along with me.  I was told that maybe they’d come in later in the day.  There had been a big storm the day before, hence the plane being cancelled, and there were lots of people who had rebooked flights and delayed bags.  I didn’t mind.

I got to Portland and was blessed to have lunch with my sweet friend, Lisa Natoli, who lives about an hour from the airport, and that was lovely.

My wish was not to go back to the airport for my bags, but to let them be delivered to my family’s house on Deer Isle [4].  I called the airline and arranged for my bags to be delivered, but intuition was to go and get them.  I didn’t really feel like it, but I’ve learned to follow the guidance, so I went and got them happily.

That’s another thing – I’ve learned that even if I don’t feel like doing something, if my intuition is go do it, I do it happily.  I follow my intuition happily (most of the time) because I’m authentically happy [5] that I’m listening to the Voice for God.  The Voice for God is the only voice worth listening to, and I’ve proven that to myself.  I’ve proven to myself that, “things go better with God.”

The Course gives us clear instruction in being miracle [6] workers:

“As you share my unwillingness to accept error in yourself and others, you must join the great crusade to correct it; listen to my voice, learn to undo error and act to correct it.  The power to work miracles belongs to you.  I will provide the opportunities to do them, but you must be ready and willing.  Doing them will bring conviction in the ability, because conviction comes through accomplishment.  The ability is the potential, the achievement is its expression, and the Atonement, which is the natural profession of the children of God, is the purpose [7].”  T-1.III.1.

If we’re not willing to follow our intuition about seemingly innocuous things like calling someone or picking up our suitcases, then will we be willing to follow our intuition in moments that could save someone’s life?

A friend of mine once had clear guidance of something they were to avoid involving another person in helping them with something.  They decided to go ahead anyway as they didn’t see how it could cause any harm and would save them about $100.  The person ended up getting killed in the process of helping them.  Of course, someone’s death was not intended by my friend, it wasn’t foreseeable, but the intuition to not involve that person was very clear.

That’s not how I would like to learn to follow my intuition.  I’ve learned so well through many mishaps that could have been avoided had I only followed my clear guidance.

The thing to remember is that the Voice for God is a still small voice.  It’s gentle and not demanding.  It’s not opinionated or judgmental.  It’s calm, assured and highly repetitive.

Have you been getting some guidance you’re ignoring?  It’s worth asking yourself what you’re really avoiding and would you be willing to trust God.  I’ve learned the hard way!

If you’re finding what I’m sharing to be helpful, won’t you please share at facebook and twitter to let others know?  Thank you!
