In general, people don’t feel empowered to change their lives. Instead, they have a strategy of managing, coping and settling.
If managing and coping don’t work, they’ll decide to settle.
In 2010, I was participating in a group coaching call with a wonderful marketing expert, Chris Williams from Wide Awake Marketing. I was trying to learn some helpful marketing basics. Chris was helping us to practice our elevator speeches.
An elevator speech is a 20 second introduction that you could give to someone in the time it takes to go up a couple of floors in an elevator. There was a woman who said she was a life coach and her elevator speech was:
I help people with their problems by coming up with managing and coping strategies so they can have better relationships, more fulfilling careers and improve their health and well-being.
I immediately knew my elevator speech could be:
I help people find happiness. Together we solve their problems by healing the root causes, including identifying and eliminating their managing and coping strategies so they can actually enjoy their life and have fulfilling relationships and careers while improving their health and well-being.
I didn’t wish to make the life-coach wrong, but if you settle for learning managing and coping skills is like making an agreement that you can’t ever have the life you desire. You HAVE to settle in order to apply that approach.
I can’t advocate for settling, managing and coping. That’s a strategy for people who feel that solutions aren’t available to them. It’s a strategy for people who feel like they’re on their own and don’t have any tangible INTELLIGENT support.
I’ve learned that I ALWAYS have tangible intelligent support from Spirit, from my Higher Holy Spirit Self, because I’ve cultivated a relationship with my Higher Holy Spirit Self and so it’s always available to me – as long as I’m not harboring unforgiveness.
When I’m holding on to resentments and regrets, guilt, blame and shame, then I’m focused on my own beliefs and the story I’ve made up abou things. If I’m attached to that false perspective, is it even possible that I’d be interested in solving my problems?
If I’m thinking I’m so right about how wrong things are, is there any part of me that’s open to having a healing?
We think we have to manage, cope and settle when we don’t feel empowered.
When we don’t forgive, when we attack and hold grudges, when we complain and feel resentful, when we feel guilty, when all of these thoughts and feelings are swirling around our mind every day, we simply do not feel loving and kind, we don’t feel generous and compassionate to ourselves or others. And THAT is why we don’t feel empowered.
Love is our power. It is the power of Love in us that allows us to feel worthy of a good life rather than settling, managing and coping.
I invite you to consider where you might be managing and coping and where you have settled. If you’re willing to be more loving every day you’ll notice you feel empowered to make changes rather than continue to cope.
When we making more loving choices, our family makes more loving choices, our friends and our co-workers are inspired too. Being loving is inspiring and infectious. Now’s the time for for us to shine the Light of Love into every day!
STARTS MONDAY: My Spiritual Counseling Training Intensive is not just a professional training, it’s a deeply healing opportunity to let go of false beliefs. If you read the things people have said about how their lives change as a result, you will see that this is an opportunity for profound lasting personal healing.
If you’re willing, let’s do it together! Changing our lives and healing our minds is so much easier when we are the two or more gathered together for the same purpose. To this end, I’m offering another Spiritual Counseling Training Intensive starting on Monday.
We’re an expanding global spiritual community of prayerful people willing to be co-workers with God. We’re waking up together and finding freedom in our hearts. I’m so grateful for this!
If you find what I’m sharing helpful, won’t you please share at facebook and twitter to let others know? Thank you!
