I shared, on Saturday, that I was going to do another day of intensive White Tantric Kundalini Yoga, and I reposted my Spiritual Espresso about the one I went to in Knoxville, Tennessee last September. This one in New York City had about three times the people, and was a beautiful experience.
White Tantric Yoga is an ancient group meditative practice that works on clearing out the deepest corridors of the subconscious mind.
“Since ancient times, humans have found that they have zillions of thoughts, billions of feelings, millions of emotions, thousands of desires, hundreds of fantasies, and multi-realities and personalities. Ultimately, our mind and thoughts rule and bog us down. We try every method available to get rid of this pressure, because it is eating us up inside. White Tantric Yoga® enables you to break through those subconscious blocks, so you can enjoy life…This is the path to personal freedom and awareness, and will bring more success to every area of your life.”
~ Yogi Bhajan
During the day, in intense experiences of physical exertion, there were times when I wished for it to be over and I was feeling challenged to continue. The temptation to look around and see what others were doing, to compare and to contrast, was strong. I knew that wouldn’t get me anything worth having, so I kept myself focused.
It is intense for anyone to hold hands with a partner, arms raised above your head and to raise your arms up and down for 62 minutes while chanting. Many people are challenged just to stare into their partners’eyes for an hour. There’s so much to learn when you’re going through these intense exercises with a partner. So much to let go of, so much to expand into.
I met Rob, sitting next to me, a man who had never done Kundalini yoga before, and who dove right into this intensive experience. It was difficult for him, it was difficult for all of us, and yet when we don’t mentally complain it’s always much easier. Guaranteed.
Complaining never makes anything better, it only intensifies the challenge by labeling it and making the pain seem more real.
I am so glad that I’m giving myself permission to do these challenging things in order to clear my mind of old patterns. I can feel the difference it’s making in me. I go with God, and so I feel lifted and carried even through the most difficult parts.
I’ve discovered that when there are challenges of any kind, it gives me an opportunity to work with my mind and to take out the trash. Like everybody else, I can see how quickly my mind goes to making meaning of things. The move to interpret, analyze, sift, sort and label every experience is the ego’s way of separating us from actually being present in the moment, and I’m using every opportunity to eliminate that habit.
I can honestly say that I am feeling a liberation from my spiritual practice of NOT making meaning of things!
I’ve learned to just stop in the middle of a thought and discard it completely.
I say to myself, “It doesn’t matter.”
My interpretation doesn’t matter.
Interpreting every little experience DOES NOT MATTER and does not add value to my life. It is an investment in my unhappiness. When I am aligned with higher Wisdom and Love Intelligence, then I don’t need to interpret – I can have a direct experience and realize the power of Love in each moment – and that’s healing.
I feel blessed that Spirit is always leading me to my answered prayer. I truly Love being able to work with the mind in a healing way, while also strengthening my body and helping it to work better on all levels. When I’m working with the spinal flex exercises I can hear, in my mind, the words of Yogi Bhajan, “flexible spine, flexible mind.” I am so willing to be flexible in my mind and in my body.
Thank you Yogi Bhajan for bringing Kundalini Yoga to the West where I could find it!

Are you interested in this? I haven’t offered Finding Freedom from Fear in almost six months, and I’m thinking offering it soon. I’m considering doing something special next time I offer my class, so that people can do the class with a friend or family member, as there is definitely strength in joining with a partner. If you’d like to be on the waiting list so you can join me next time I offer it, you can go here to sign up for the waiting list and I’ll keep you posted.
