In the northern hemisphere, we’re speeding to the very darkest day of the year – just a couple of weeks away now. I’m always SO glad when we get past that milestone, as I’ve become such a fan of the light.

Sometimes the darkness is outside, but sometimes it’s inside.

I’ve been very blessed in my life to work with many people who have had challenges with depression and who’ve been labeled depressive. These glorious people have taught me so much about the misperceptions around depression and fear-based thinking.

A Course in Miracles tells us:
When you are sad, know this need not be. Depression comes from a sense of being deprived of something you want and do not have. Remember that you are deprived of nothing except by your own decisions, and then decide otherwise. T-4.IV.3.

I find this teaching SO very helpful. I’ve seen many folks in Masterful Living heal chronic depression. People who have been depressed for more than a decade have completely transformed their experience of life through living these teachings.

I’m not saying it’s easy. It might be for some, but it’s usually easier than we think.

Darkness is NOT our natural state. It is actually the result of covering up the Light that is within us.

When we deem another as not having Light within, or when we focus on the surface where their unkind deeds are showing, we are in denial of their Light and we’ll have trouble seeing our own.

There is a way out of the darkness and it is the way OF Love.

Love is our healer. It always has been and always will be.

Depression is a learning experience.
It teaches humility.
And compassion.
It leads us back to the Light.

Each loving choice we make builds on the one before it, and it transforms our lives and our experience. The Light is within us. Let us not deny it in ourselves or in our brothers and sisters.
