One of the things that get in the way of our living a highly functional spiritual life is that we can feel that we know what’s best. We get attached to what we think will make us happy, even though we’ve had so many experiences in our life that absolutely prove to us, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we don’t know what will make us happy. It’s insane.
What about this? Instead of telling God what we want, what if we decided to just BE happy and let Spirit guide us there? What if we focused entirely on cultivating the willingness to follow the path of inspiration?
Following the path of inspiration does require us to LET GO of what we think will make us happy.
What I’ve come to understand is that what ACIM teaches about prayer is that our happiness actually comes from giving up what we think will make us happy and opening ourselves to being in the flow of Love, which truly is the only thing that is actually fulfilling and happy-making.
If our answered prayer is a thing, a condition, a circumstance, then it’s temporary, and because of that we’ll ultimately come to see that it cannot fulfill us. It can only temporarily make us feel full. There’s a big difference between feeling temporarily satiated and a sense of fulfillment.
Our answered prayer is actually a release of false identification and stepping into a realignment with our true identity. This is a shift that Spirit will figure out for us and we can be led and guided to it – if we’re willing to accept that the answered prayer is not in this world, it’s in our minds.
We are not in this world.
We are Infinite Eternal Spirit.
When our mind is changed/healed,
that’s a miracle,
and that’s what changes the world.
ACIM says, “Seek not to change the world, but to change your mind about the world.”
Prayer is a means for changing our minds.
It is the medium of miracles.
Prayer is an active demonstration of our willingness to be in the flow of Love rather than directing the flow of Love.
Combine that with the willingness to ACCEPT the answered prayer, HOWEVER it may arrive, and then our mind is no longer rejecting our divinity – we’re in alignment with the Divine.
It’s extraordinary how simple the most helpful tools can be. Prayer is a powerful tool to help us accelerate the healing of our minds.
Prayer has changed my life and improved the quality of every day.
I say pray, and pray often. Let us all live a life of prayer without ceasing.
We can be kind to develop humility or we can be humiliated. Which do you prefer? Please share in the comments below!
