We can choose to be kind.

I’m a sensitive person. Sometimes I’m so tuned into other people’s feelings that it’s too much for me. I’ve had to pay attention and learn not to get enmeshed with other people’s energy and feelings.

I’ve also learned that when I’m judging other people and their feelings and emotions, I’m just stirring the pot in a way that’s not helpful to anyone.

I’ve had MANY, MANY times when I started to have negative thoughts about people and realized that I was beginning to feel quite critical of them. When I wonder where all the negativity is coming from I’ve realized these aren’t even my thoughts!

I can tune into other people’s thoughts, especially if they’re feelings are also very strong, and I can lose track of what’s mine and what’s theirs. I’ve had to learn the discipline of realizing that while we share the same mind, it’s not helpful to become enmeshed with others.

For me, I always come back to my intention and what’s important to me.

What’s most important to me is to be loving.
I used to need to be right all the time.
It’s not so important anymore.
I’d rather be loving.

What good is being right, if I can’t be loving?

Like the song says: “War! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!”

I still get triggered into old patterns of upset, but not like I used to. Now, every time there’s an upset, and I do mean EVERY time there’s an upset, I can use it for healing and transformation and that feels good to me.

I am grateful for every morsel of healing.

I ask that you join me in a vow, to the best of our ability, to not intentionally agitate people.

Let’s really make a commitment to being consistently kind.

And if we fail, in that moment of realizing that we failed, let us immediately begin again by being kind to ourselves. That’s Self-Love. When we love ourselves, we’re being helpful to others.

Life is ultra intense for most folks right now. And yet for some it’s calm and peaceful. We’re each having our own unique experience.

Some people are at home by themselves and feeling very isolated and lonely. Others have too many people in their house for comfort and can’t get any space.

Whatever your experience, however it’s going for you, you are most probably sensitive to how many people are feeling upset and traumatized right now. We’re all one with each other, and with so many people grieving, feeling sad and frightened, it’s hard to imagine that there could be anyone on this planet that isn’t noticing a rise in feeling vulnerable and sensitive.

I had to stop watching the news, because even a little bit of listening to the health care workers would have me in tears. I would cry simply because I tuned into the level of intensity they’re experiencing and it’s overwhelming for them. I feel so much empathy and compassion for them I just start crying.

So, if you’re not aware you’re feeling some of that, you may be. In your neighborhood, your apartment building, your family, there are most likely people who are going through a VERY difficult time. Whether we realize it or not, we feel the energy of it.

And, many of us are also up-leveling.

That’s what I feel is happening for myself and for many of the people who are maintaining their spiritual practice now.

When it’s really a tough time, it’s tough because we’re not being loving to ourselves by partnering UP with the Higher Holy Spirit Self.

Now is the time for us to focus on kindness.

Being kind to ourselves, and extending kindness to others is what’s going to help us get through this in a way that we’ll be better for it.

Being kind is a great way to be truly helpful.

Being kind feels like an expression of true Love – and, as Stevie Wonder sang in AS, “true Love asks for nothing.” We don’t need to get anything in return.

When we can be with someone who is upset, critical and attacking and respond with ACTUAL Love, then we’ve taken our power back and we are now helping them to do the same.

Someone who is attacking ANYONE is feeling powerless at the most basic level. Those who are tapped in to the ONLY power there is (Spirit) have no thought of attacking another, they’re only interested in being truly helpful.

Let’s turn to Spirit for our refuge so we can focus on being helpful.

Spirit has been guiding me to some powerful parts of A Course in Miracles in my podcast. This past week’s topic was Healing Hatred, and it was very powerful to look into the self-hatred and the ways we project it out onto others.

I just posted episode #444 of my radio show / podcast – and it seems hard to believe that many episodes since the first one with Gary Renard in 2011. I keep thinking I’ll run out of things to say about it, but it’s endlessly inspiring to me, for which I am SO grateful!

Speaking of gratitude, last Sunday we had our first Sundays With Spirit online Sunday Service and there was SUCH an outpouring of Love and gratitude afterward. How wonderful! We’re doin another service today.

Join me, Jon Mundy, Renee Stahl and more friends. We’ll have a spiritual celebration together and if you can’t join us, you can catch the replay! Because we’re going to be live on video, you’ll have to register to get the details. All are welcome, there’s no charge, but you do have to register.

When you register, you’ll also get easy access to last week’s service with Lisa Natoli and James Twyman.

You can join me in cultivating the willingness that raises us ALL up so we can be truly helpful in this world. Prayer is a power tool, and I am so grateful for having learned the power of it. Every day, part of my spiritual practice is to write inspiration and record a prayer to go with it.

Please share my daily prayer with anyone who would find it supportive.

If you’re interested, this week I’ll be announcing that I’m offering my Prayer Power class again, also I’m going to offer my Stop Playing Small Retreat online. People have asked for these things and I’m pulling it together. Stay tuned!

I look forward to our Sunday gathering today. It means so much that we can join together and love on each other!

May you and your family feel blessed today and every day!
