We’re choosing resurrection, liberation, transcendence.

It’s Easter Sunday and today, as an A Course in Miracles student, I’m celebrating the resurrection in my own heart. I’m celebrating my willingness to allow the resurrection to be made manifest.

Believe in the resurrection because it has been accomplished, and it has been accomplished in you. This is as true now as it will ever be, for the resurrection is the Will of God, which knows no time and no exceptions.” ACIM, T-11.VI.4.

Sometimes when I’m teaching or counseling I recommend to people to use this affirmation:

Thy will be done.
or
God’s will be done.
or
I AM perfect.

Most people will recoil and reject these affirmations, but I love them and encourage you to try them out. God’s will for us is perfect happiness. Let’s choose that.

God’s will for us is to recognize our perfection and reject all belief in separation. Let’s choose that.

Another one I frequently use is “I AM the resurrection and the life.

This is the perfect time for us to focus on choosing resurrection and make no exceptions.

Perhaps you’re having an experience like me. I’ve been quarantined, sheltering in Peace, for just about 4 weeks now. I have more to do than usual because I’m offering extra classes and organizing more opportunities for our community to connect and pray.

For us spiritual students, if we can, let us use this time to focus on what Jesus tells us in ACIM:

The resurrection is the complete triumph of Christ over the ego, not by attack but by transcendence.

Let us transcend limiting beliefs because we’ve had enough. Truly, all we have to do is choose it, consistently. We don’t have to do it perfectly from this moment on.

All we have to do is choose transcendence more than repeating the past.

That’s it.

Even a little bit more of choosing transcendence over choosing the past and we will actually transcend.

So what does it meant to transcend?

I hold in my mind that it’s a kind of divine alchemy.

I’m so glad that Jesus tells us that we don’t have to figure it all out. All we have to do is be willing. Well, I am aware that I cannot be willing to transcend pain and suffering while simultaneously choosing it.

I cannot complain, attack, defend or hate and also choose transcendence.

So, I either choose to transcend or to be in pain. I’m the decider of what I will choose.

Many people say they would deepen their spiritual practice if they had more time. If you have “more time” because you’re working from home and not commuting, then use that time for spiritual practice and you’ll see the results, real results, in just a few days.

Transcendence is one of my favorite words, and one of my favorite things. We CAN transcend the ego through our willingness to let our ego attachments be healed.

To be helpful is why every day part of my spiritual practice is to write inspiration and record a prayer to go with it. You can join me in cultivating the willingness that raises us ALL up so we can be truly helpful in this world. Please share this daily prayer with anyone who would find it helpful.
