Have you ever chosen to be miserable? I have.
Have you ever chosen to be unhappy in order to seek revenge on someone else? I have.
Happiness is a moment by moment choice we can make sometimes we get into a loop of unhappiness that is a spiral down.
I’ve been there.
The good news is, we can make another choice – we can spiral up. We really can.
Consider any choices you’ve made lately that felt unloving or unkind to yourself or someone else. In that choice point is the opportunity to choose which way you spiral.
Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean you have to allow your happiness to be disturbed.
Maintaining equilibrium is an important part of our spiritual practice.
Peace is a spiritual practice that reveals a hidden happiness and a great Joy – but we have to be willing to give up the intoxicating effects of being really upset.
When we’re identified with the ego, we can begin to feel dead inside. The anger, upset, and emotional intensity of feeling hurt can be come a way to falsely feel that we’re alive. Sometimes it can seem like our choice is between anger or depression.
Depression is definitely something that feels like a trap, and it’s a trap we can get out of through spiritual practice, I see people do it all the time. It’s breathtakingly beautiful to see the inner fire be kindled and restored.
I’m getting ready to offer a course on healing depression.
I’m interested in showing others how to consistently choose happiness.
It can be come a habit and our way of life. It’s so worth it!
If you’ve chosen unhappiness lately, the antidote is to forgive yourself for choosing something that feels harmful. True forgiveness is a loving choice and that loving choice, like any loving choice, will lift you high!
