It takes humility to admit I was wrong. I’ve been wrong so many times I can’t possibly remember and in the recognition of how many times I’ve had to admit I was wrong, came the humility.
Without humility, there can be no spiritual awakening, so I’m grateful for my humility even if it was hard-won.
Yes, I did find my humility through the route of humiliation – but your journey can be different.
Consider what it says in Chapter 10 of the Manual for Teachers of A Course in Miracles:
Judgment, like other devices by which the world of illusions is maintained,
is totally misunderstood by the world.
It is actually confused with wisdom,
and substitutes for truth.
From this we can learn:
The illusion of separation is maintained with judgment.
Judgment is misunderstood and confused with wisdom.
In other words, people’s opinions are misunderstood and mistaken for wisdom.
People substitute their opinions for the truth.
It’s not hard to see how this works in our experience of life.
We can turn away from this system by insisting upon the truth and not being satisfied with the illusion. The illusion will never satisfy for more than a moment.
Consider offering just one opinion to the Higher Holy Spirit Self today for healing. Just one and we’ve made progress. Every day let’s willingly offer up our judgments and bring forth the shared awareness of unity and unification.
We’ll always be glad we did it!
