What is justice?
This is the title of Chapter 19 in the Manual for Teachers of A Course in Miracles.
And the answer is: whatever you’d like it to be.
Just kidding. That would be crazy! But that IS how the ego thought system works.
I live in the United States where the “justice” system doesn’t always have ANYTHING to do with justice. If we look at what has happened to our prisons in this country in the last couple of decades it is so clear to anyone who is paying attention that our prisons have become big businesses that incarcerate men of color and profits white men. These are facts.
That’s not justice. It’s legalized insanity.
We, you and I are here ONLY to be truly helpful.
We are here to represent the one who sent us.
We are here to re-present the one who sent us.
Can we do that and remain silent?
In his beautiful work, Letter From the Birmingham Jail, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote these words that touched me deeply and profoundly and I think of them often:
“I received a letter this morning from a white brother in Texas which said, “All Christians know that the colored people will receive equal rights eventually, but is it possible that you are in too great of a religious hurry? It has taken Christianity almost 2000 years to accomplish what it has. The teachings of Christ take time to come to earth.”
All that is said here grows out of a tragic misconception of time. It is the strangely irrational notion that there is something in the very flow of time that will inevitably cure all ills. Actually, time is neutral. It can be used either destructively or constructively.
I am coming to feel that the people of ill will have used time much more effectively than the people of good will. We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the vitriolic words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people.
We must come to see that human progress never rolls in on wheels of inevitability. It comes through the tireless efforts and persistent work of men willing to be coworkers with God, and without this hard work time itself becomes an ally of the forces of social stagnation.”
He wrote those words from jail after his arrest at a nonviolent demonstration. They ring in my heart. I cannot let them go. They have been motivating me since I first read them in 1997.
We cannot wait on time.
Time has no volition, no intention, it is no-thing.
We cannot wait.
Time is not our friend or our enemy.
Let us use our time constructively.
Let us be truly helpful each and every day of our lives.
We work for God, Inc. and now is our time.
We have been training for this our entire lives.
Follow your HEART and you cannot fail! Spirit never fails. Spirit works through our loving heart!
