A Course in Miracles tells us in Workbook Lesson 190 that “Pain is a wrong perspective.”
Our perspective is the place we’re viewing life from.
ACIM tells us that when we’re in pain it’s because we’re seeing life from the perspective of being separate from the infinite creator God, and on our own, a mere body in the sea of life. There are further refinements we can make in terms of understanding our perspective in order to let it go and see correctly.
From our point of view it can seem that the glass is half-empty or half-full or we can see it correctly: the glass is always full. A glass half-full of water is also half-full of air, therefore it is full. No matter how much water or air is in the glass, it’s always full.
Our goal is to see things correctly, as they truly are, rather than through the distorted lens of our interpretations and the meanings we’ve made of things that become our perspective.
Some people look at the world from the perspective that no matter what they do they’ll always lose. It’s the victim perspective. They cannot win. The deck is stacked against them. I remember feeling that way because that was my point of view. This was a very painful perspective to me, it was without hope.
Some people can see that from their view. Sometimes they win, and sometimes they lose. You have to “know when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em,” as the song says. In this perspective there’s a winner and a loser. It’s a competitive world. Dog eat dog. I remember feeling that way and seeing everything, everything, EVERYTHING as a competition. I had to look out for #1.
This was also a painful perspective for me. It was endlessly exhausting. Plus, when you do win, you have the pain of knowing someone else lost and you’re the one that contributed to their suffering.
And then I saw a ray of light in my own heart. It was my desire to be a compassionate person. I decided to focus on that and it pulled me out of the darkness. My focus on the light brought me from the painful perspective of endless competition, winning and losing and not feeling good about either.
Now, I’m aware that everything works together for the good of all and there are no exceptions, except in the opinion of the ego. This goes with me always. I cannot lose, because no matter what may appear to be a loss, it is for my good and for the good of all when I can see it correctly. I’ve trained myself to shift my perspective if I start to feel pain.
I align with the divine perspective.
I cannot yet see through all directions of time and space all of the time, but it is happening more and more. I may not like everything that occurs, but I can find the beauty in it.
Right now, our children are taking to the streets to demonstrate their own sense of self-worth and they are taking the lead because the adults aren’t stepping up. It’s not wonderful that so many of them had to be terrorized and murdered before they decided to take action.
It’s not ideal that the adults would let the children go unprotected and be manipulated by corporate greed, but at least the change is happening now and while we may not be able to lead the children, we can bless them and support them and help them learn to speak their message from the heart so they can fully change the world through the power of Love.
I hold that we can move to a consciousness that doesn’t require loss and competition. I feel it happening. Sometimes we have to fall down really hard, and get hurt before we start to really look where we’re going and set our sights on a goal worth having.
We’re in the midst of a big change. It’s in our face right now. We’re seeing that life in the matrix of corporate greed is not the best we can do. We can choose to experience the new heaven and the new earth.
Globally, humanity is making that shift in perspective. It’s what our lives are really about. Light workers all over the world are awakening and answering the call to be the change they’d like to see in the world. We’re it. Now’s the time. Today’s always the perfect day to say YES to Love and ask the Higher Holy Spirit Self shift our POV. We don’t have to know HOW we simply ALLOW. It’s our divine inheritance to be right-minded and clear-sighted. Together we choose Love.
If you feel that you’ve been playing small in any way, I’d love to support you in breaking free of that. If you’re feeling called to do this work with me, please trust that and allow Spirit to provide what is needed so that you can answer the call you’re feeling. We can do this together!
Changing our lives and healing our minds is so much easier when we are the two or more gathered together for the same purpose. To this end, I’m offering another of my Stop Playing Small retreats at the end of April. We practice and learn Self-Love in Spiritual Community and it’s a powerful healing experience.
We can permanently change our perspective from a painful one to a life that really works.
We’re an expanding global spiritual community of prayerful people willing to be co-workers with God. We’re waking up together and finding freedom in our hearts. I’m so grateful for this! If you find what I’m sharing is helpful won’t you please share at facebook and twitter to let’s other know? Thank you!
