Sometimes people treat me poorly. They’re unkind. Folks can be blaming, shaming, they can lie and make stuff up. People hurl all kinds of attack thoughts – spoken and unspoken.
And yet, I do not wish to succumb to responding in kind.
I truly desire to hold everyone in the light even if they’ve been hurtful.
What I know is that when people are mean and hurtful the only thing that can redeem them is Love.
Love is the healer because Love is what we are. I don’t ever wish to forget that. It is my rock and my salvation.
Love can shock us into our right mind.
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said “Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
We are here ONLY to be truly helpful and that means that we cannot take lightly the opportunity we have to help redeem our brothers and sisters.
I often think that when I was in my worst times, when I was mean, and angry and hateful, I wish that someone had said to me, “I see you’re hurting and I’m here to help. I won’t leave you or forsake you. We’ll get through this together.”
If I made my bed in hell, my greatest wish would be that someone would extend Love to me until I could wake up from my suffering.
How do we redeem our brothers and sisters who suffer? We remember their TRUE identity is perfect Light, Christ Light. We don’t have to convince them or even hang out with them, but we do have to remember to see them correctly.
And in doing so we too are redeemed.
All is one. When one is lifted all are lifted.
War is over if we want it.
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life, for us, if we choose it.
We are the dreamers of the dream.
Thank you, Jennifer. Much appreciated.
Thanks for helping me remember my true identity, Love. I, too wish to return unkindness with love so that it becomes a regular response that I don’t have to even think about anymore, it’s just who I have become! Yes!!
Puts me in mind of one of my favorite poems:
“…there is no answer
but loving one another,
even our enemies, and this is hard.
But remember:
when a man of war becomes a man of peace,
he give a light, divine
though it is also human.
When a man of peace is killed
by a man of war, he gives a light.
You do not have to walk in darkness.
If you will have the courage for love,
you may walk in light. It will be
the light of those who have suffered
for peace. It will be
your light.
