Earlier this year I shared a few times about my experience with my contact lenses. Even after about four months of wearing them, I still sometimes have issues putting them in or taking them out.
It doesn’t really bother me or upset me, but it does feel like a bit of a nuisance.
Sometimes when I’m taking my lenses out I’ll move one off of the pupil and it seems to fold on itself and move into the corner of my eye and it takes me a while to find it. Trying to pop it out can sometimes take a while. It’s always right before bed and I’m tired and don’t feel like dealing with it.
The other night I just didn’t have a desire to play with it. I could see it in my eye, but I couldn’t see it clearly enough to really figure out how to get it out of there. I got still and knew what to do.
I said this statement like a mantra: “my eye will naturally expel the lens.”
I said it about six times and then I went to meditate as I do each night before bed. I held in my mind that it would naturally fall out before I went to bed. And it did. In fact, it fell out just as I was beginning to meditate.
I’m so grateful I was willing to stop fussing and just let the contact lens fall out on its own and it did.
I’ve learned that we can hold in our mind that things are difficult, but they don’t have to be. When we change our mind, our experience changes. Sometimes it changes in the material world, and sometimes it’s only in our mind and heart – either way, we can be relieved of our suffering.
We can change our mind and have Peace.
Life is making every effort to show us how attractive ease and grace are.
When we feel guilty and ashamed, we make life hard for ourselves as a punishment.
But we can go the other way.
I’m interested in having a wonderful time with my contact lenses.
I’d like to be very adept at putting them in and taking them out. It’s happening now.
I am the dreamer of the dream.
