This week we’re starting our class on How to Create and Lead Workshops that Make a Difference. And I thought it might be helpful to share some tips about being on zoom – whether you’re leading, or participating you can find some benefit to these zoom tips.

When we feel better about the way we look, we show up more and engage more.  And then we usually both receive more benefit and we extend more to our zoom mates as well.

When we feel better about the way we look on zoom, we usually share and engage more.

To look your best on zoom, lighting is everything.  Here’s a YouTube video on the topic that you may find really helpful.  .

There are MANY YouTube videos so I encourage you to go and search for ones that work well for you.  You’d be surprised at how many professionals, even with millions of people watching on TV, will still not choose a zoom set up that presents them in the most flattering way.

In case you’re interested in improving your zoom appearance so you can really be seen, I’ve learned that there are some great devices that we can use to improve how we show up on camera. This first one works great for people using tablets and phones. It can be clamped on a table or a headboard. Great for folks who are sitting on their bed. I’ve used all of these with success except the tablet holder as I don’t use a tablet that way. The first two items are lights – one can be used to simply rest on a table or be clamped on a table and it works quite well. The clip on works on a phone or a laptop and works great too. Improve your experience, make sure you’re lit well so we can see you. It makes such a difference to be able to see each other! These are inexpensive and easy to operate.

I used to use this microphone as it works really well and gives a better sound quality than my old computer mic. It has a mute button on it which is sometimes easier to use than the computer mute button. Remember too, that there are sound settings in zoom – you can have it adjust for background noise like barking dogs and things like that in your zoom settings.  When I got a new computer earlier this year, I didn’t need thisanymore. My intention is to inspire you to participate more and feel great about it.  Also, if you can see more of the folks on zoom, and what’s going on, you may join in more and be on camera more.  I love to see you, so, I confess, this is rather selfish of me!
