Acceptance of what is can bring us Peace, but not if we hold in our mind that acceptance is somehow a giving up.
We accept that what is going on, is happening.
We accept that what happened happened.
We accept that things are as they are even when we don’t like it.
And then, we focus on how we’d like to FEEL. We focus on Peace, Love, Joy, Freedom, Clarity and the spiritual qualities that we’d like to vibrate with – we do this in order to bring a shift in our awareness from what we don’t like to what is REAL.
We open our minds to embrace the good that is available to us even when we cannot see it or find it..
We don’t curse the darkness.
We give thanks for the Light.
A Course in Miracles tells us,
“ … seek not to change the world,
but choose to change your mind about the world.”
For instance, let’s say your house just became flooded and effectively destroyed. Your workplace has also been destroyed and so you no longer have a job, but you still have a family to feed and take care of. You might find this intensely upsetting. You might not like it at all. You might not wish to accept it. If you’re not able to accept what is happening, you’ll have a hard time moving to the place of healing. Acceptance comes first.
I’ve heard a number of people say things like “what will be, will be.” Que sera sera.
That goes against what I’ve learned about this world.
This world is a project of our mind, gently planned, by one whose only purpose is our good.
In this world, we make choices of how to think and feel about things and our thoughts and beliefs become our experiences. Our beliefs are like a magnet in our mind that attracts the thoughts that we might choose to think. Our thoughts than become like molds that form our experiences. We can break the mold and have a new experience. We can choose a new thought. We can relinquish the beliefs that don’t serve and energize the truth that sets us free.
“True learning is constant, and so vital in its power for change that a Son of God can recognize his power in one instant and change the world in the next. That is because, by changing his mind, he has changed the most powerful device that was ever given him for change. ACIM T-7.V.7.”
We’re not victims of circumstance.
We can change our mind.
We can choose where to place our attention.
It’s so valuable to us that we have the ability to change our mind, and that we have the ability to choose what we’ll energize. We can choose to serve God or ego.
What will be, will be, unless we change our mind about it.
Let’s choose to change our mind about the world.
Let’s take dominion over our minds and continuously energize the highest and best for all and a world that works lovingly for everyone.
Let us not just stand back and become voyeurs in this world. We are the dreamers of this dream. Let’s not abdicate our response-ability. Let’s actively energize that more Peace, more Love and more Joy are happening now.
We pray to accept the things we cannot change and to Love what is even if we don’t like it.
Acceptance is a starting point to our empowerment!
