I was at a new moon fire ceremony with my local spiritual community which is based in Native American traditions and as I was in the healing vortex of that ceremony a realization came to me:
The bigger and more obnoxious a person’s ego seems to be, the bigger the wound is that’s hiding behind that personality.
It felt like truth to me.
When people are loud and aggressive, attacking and pushy, we can feel their ego. We often want to get away from them and that’s the point, isn’t it? To keep people at arm’s length because they feel so vulnerable and afraid. They’ve got a big show of anger and bluster to intimidate people to keep them from coming close enough to see or touch their vulnerability.
Now, of course, someone can have a “big” ego that isn’t loud and aggressive – the big ego could be the complete opposite and the person is very shy and quiet and can hardly speak up for themselves – that’s an ego driven personality too.
When we see this in ourselves, it’s time for self-compassion.
When we see it in others, it’s time for us to be compassionate and extend loving understanding to the person even if we don’t particularly wish to interact with them on a personality level.
This is how we heal the ego identification so that we can see ourselves and others as pure Spirit. It’s profoundly life changing because it’s deeply healing.
It costs us nothing.
It’s available to us at all times.
Every day can be a healing day if we’re willing.
Let’s not miss anymore healing opportunities. Let’s be the change we’d like to see in the world.

LATEST PODCAST EPISODE: The most recent episode of my podcast’s topic is Does Darkness Have Power? Sometimes we become afraid of what we perceive as darkness within ourselves or others. There’s no such thing as darkness within us, no matter how dark our thoughts might seem. We are not our thoughts!
This Thursday: free forgiveness workshop! Forgiveness is so healing it’s hard to believe how beneficial it is until you’re willing to really dive in. I’ve worked with so many people that have had healing at all levels simply because of the forgiveness they did. It works whether we believe it will or not. It’s miraculous.
