Some people are so hard on themselves. They expect so much that it seems unreasonable. It’s quite common for people to expect much more from themselves than then would ever expect from another human being.
What’s up with that?
The ego mindset is one that constantly finds fault and then punishes. It’s intentionally discouraging.
Some of us are so hard on ourselves as an expression of that punishing ego mind. No matter how well we do, there’s always the fault finding. We’re just never good enough.
Living with that internal critic is exhausting. It’s like living with a terrorist. You end up getting used to being on high alert all the time. It’s mentally and emotionally draining.
Enough!
How do we get out of that pattern?
Let’s not focus on STOPPING the thoughts or the behaviors because that will only exacerbate things. Instead, let’s simply move into being more loving and more compassionate. Every little bit helps. Truly.
Let’s put Spirit in charge of figuring out and give ourselves the simple intention to ALLOW. Choosing willingness, focusing on willingness. That’s how the healing happens.
Let’s be gentle with ourselves and relax into our loving hearts.
Making loving choices is so nourishing and healing. We make the choices one choice at a time. Like the Dalai Lama we can make kindness our religion and we can practice one moment at a time.
