Having Humility

Tuesday, November 10th, 2020

Here’s an interesting observation:

After working with so many people as a spiritual counselor, as a spiritual leader and teacher, a minister, a practitioner and just as someone having a human experienced, I’ve noticed that it’s often the case that folks who feel completely unworthy of having a spiritual awakening are quite likely to have rapid spiritual growth.

One of the reasons is that they can get out of their heads and just surrender to doing a spiritual practice that works without judging it so much.

Folks who feel they’re spiritual know-it-alls sometimes don’t make much spiritual progress because they feel they already know so much.

Humility is a powerful factor in our journey of awakening.

We get to humility through surrender.

We can do that with ease and grace – OR –

We can be humiliated.

We get to choose which way we’ll go.

I chose humiliation.

I don’t recommend it, but it got the job done!

And for that, I’m eternally grateful.

I’m so GLAD and grateful to be experiencing this journey with you!

Let’s support our brothers and sisters on their awakening journey to find the way with ease and grace and no more humiliation.

Our willingness is the key!

Undoing Ego Thinking

Tuesday, October 20th, 2020

In my podcast today, I’ll be sharing about Undoing the Ego Thinking.  This is the primary focus in my classes – so that we can feel more Peace, Love and Joy. The ego thought system is one that ensnares us, like a fly caught in a Venus trap.  We felt the attraction, we got caught, stuck and trapped.  We didn’t have the strength to get out.

All of that can change.

Our willingness to get off the pain train and stay off is all that’s Required.

I’ve done a battle with pleasure and pain in a way that is familiar to any folks.  I’ve gone after pleasures of eating, exercising, drinking and even smoking to excess so that I am absolutely clear that I’m not helping myself, not enjoying myself and in some twisted way punishing myself.  It was demoralizing and I’m very glad I don’t feel compulsive about that kind of behavior any longer.

This experience of confusion between pleasure and pain could be something like a lovely dessert that becomes two or three portions and then a feeling of way too much sugar.  I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but I used to do that with chips, popcorn and crackers.  I’d feel that I’d eaten too much and definitely too much salt.

I notice now that I rarely overeat, and I rarely eat things that I regret and that’s HUGE for me.  I know now that it happened because of my willingness to do the self-forgiveness inner work.  This is why I feel compelled to keep offering opportunities to do this work in a group – so we don’t get overwhelmed by our resistance and reluctance.

Every year, folks in class with me tell me stories of how they did the class work and they naturally experienced losing a bunch of weight and keeping it off, having arthritis pain lesson dramatically and then needing fewer and fewer pain killers, as well as, of course, chronic pain disappearing entirely.

I think for some people the constant feeling of physical discomfort is what keeps them in the cycle of negative pleasure.  I can remember feeling that some form of self-medication was “all I had” that brought me pleasure.  It was “all I had” to take my mind off my unhappiness.

I used so many things that were enjoyable in small doses but became painful in larger doses.  They were all meant to distract me from my feelings, but they only led me into a deeper hole of feeling that I was a fake and a failure.

It’s so liberating to be able to enjoy the pleasures of life without feeling addicted or compulsive towards them.  I feel that my whole life is better because I’m not having to control my impulses, I’m naturally choosing the things that are self-loving.  It’s a whole different way of living.  It’s a MAJOR release of worry and guilt and shame.  YAY!

It’s because spiritual practice has eliminated the ROOT CAUSE of my negative pleasure habits.  DOUBLE YAY!

This healing has definitely brought me a constant feeling of higher vibration in my beingness.

Living at a higher vibration, I notice that I naturally am less interested in lower vibrational choices, so I don’t have to struggle with behavior modification and trying to release those negative pleasure habits – they fell away gracefully.  HALLELUJAH.  I didn’t even IMAGINE that was possible for me.

The healing power and presence of God’s Love is REAL.

I know that now.  I also now know that it’s available for everyone.

I really didn’t think I’d be able to get to the place I am now.  The main turning point for me was when I made my spiritual life and practice the most important part of my life.  It was during that time that I shifted into the healing practices that became my Finding Freedom From Fear spiritual bootcamp and my life began change for the better – and it’s continued to this day.

My whole orientation changed and I began to achieve lasting success and the healing took hold in my heart and mind.

I no longer have any days where I feel like I’m sliding back.  That feeling is gone and I am forever grateful!

Are you interested in Spiritual Counseling or just developing your relationship skills? You might be interested in my Spiritual Counseling Training Intensive from November 15 to 21st – if so, please fill out my survey – I will be doing this intensive training in-person (most likely in New Hampshire where there’s a very little virus) and online.

Pulled By A Vision

Saturday, October 10th, 2020

One of the things that truly amazes me is how much I can LOVE spiritual truth and principle.  It lights me up and I never find it dull.  To me, loving spiritual principle is the same as loving Spirit.  Loving truth is loving an attribute of Spirit.  It’s like with a person, and loving the sound of their voice.

There are so many things that we can love about this life, and I used to have a tendency to focus on what I didn’t like, rather than what I did.

It’s like learning to focus on what I’d like to have happen rather than what I wouldn’t like to have happen.

We can have a vast improvement in our day to day experience of life when we are willing to shift where we place our attention.

We are the only ones who can shift the focus of our attention – no one can do it for us, although we can get help with it.  Making this shift requires real willingness, but it’s SO doable if we have that willingness.

The fact that it’s even possible to make this kind of change of our perspective is so exciting to me.  We can have tremendous healing very quickly with great willingness.

I feel that part of my job as a minister is to help people increase their willingness.

That’s part of what they come to me for.  And it works!  Which is such a blessing.

We can be pulled towards our spiritual awakening by the vision of the beauty of life rather than pushed by the pain of our perceptions.

Isn’t that wonderful?  We can truly change our minds and help others do the same.

If you’re ready to shift your perspective and be pulled by the vision of God’s Love in your life then join my Spiritual Bootcamp class – Finding Freedom From Fear – we start on Monday.

Abundance Focus

Tuesday, October 6th, 2020

Healing the habits of fear isn’t easy, but it’s FAR EASIER than living in fear.

But you wouldn’t know that if you’ve always lived in fear.

One of the things that happens is that we get focused on what we don’t like and we keep investing our precious attention on the lack and limitation we see and feel – not realizing that we’re actually generating it with our thoughts.

People often feel it’s a MIRACLE when they change their thinking and then their experience changes.

I remember one time at the end of the year in Masterful Living someone had tripled their income – without doing anything different in terms of building their business or doing more to attract clients.  What they did was they shifted their consciousness to be more receptive and to focus on what they’d like to experience rather than what they didn’t want to experience.

They shifted their attention from NOT having, to having.  And, because they were less judgmental, critical and attacking in their mind, they felt more worthy of the good.

It’s really not that complicated – it’s just about the willingness to actually do the work at the level of the mind.

When our mind changes, the world of form HAS to change.

It doesn’t have a choice.  The world responds to our thinking.

We doubt because we don’t want to believe we’re that powerful.  That’s the same old story.

If you’re tired of that same old story – maybe you’d like to eliminate the patterns of fear.  I hope so.  Please join me.

That’s why I’m offering you this class as a gift. My gift to you. Come and join me. Today.
7 simple steps to interrupt the patterns of fear.

We’ll go deeper into the practical tips and tools that worked for me, so you can interrupt those patterns of fear and attack and make new choices, creating new habits that support the life you desire.

It might seem impossible, but I’ve done it and helped many people learn to do this too.

Here’s the good news:
“No one can fail who seeks to reach the truth.”
That’s Lesson 131 in A Course in Miracles

You cannot fail if you’re sincerely willing to live a loving life
– you don’t have to be there already.
– start where you are.

All your previous failures are just evidence of your lack of sincerity.
Don’t be fooled by appearances.
If you’re sincerely willing to live without fear, you cannot fail.
It’s the Truth.
Now, will you prove it?
Once you prove it to yourself, there’s no going back!

If you’re coping with fear and you’d like to change that,
please register for my free class today.

Rainbow Bridge

Saturday, September 19th, 2020

A Course in Miracles talks about the bridge we’re building to the Real world. I feel it as a rainbow bridge of light.

This is one of my favorite readings in ACIM – it’s from the section entitled “The Rewards of Teaching.”
“To your most holy Self, all praise is due for what you are, and for what He is Who created you as you are. Sooner or later must everyone bridge the gap he imagines exists between his selves? Each one builds this bridge, which carries him across the gap as soon as he is willing to expend some little effort on behalf of bridging it. His little efforts are powerfully supplemented by the strength of Heaven, and by the united will of all who make Heaven what it is, being joined within it. And so the one who would cross over is literally transported there.

Your bridge is built stronger than you think, and your foot is planted firmly on it.

Have no fear that the attraction of those who stand on the other side and wait for you will not draw you safely across. For you will come where you would be, and where your Self awaits you.”

I find this section SO reassuring. It’s clear that there is support, and we WILL make it across.

One of the most beautiful aspects of this life is that invisible support. We’re not alone and we cannot be alone no matter how lonely we might feel.

We’re interconnected and interdependent. Whether we like it or not. Without a cooperative effort much of life would be unbearable and yet there are many times when I’ve felt momentarily resistant to being cooperative.

One of the primary ways I’ve experienced the ego identification is when I’ve felt that belligerence rise up within me and I’ve refused to cooperate. When I was younger, I felt it all the time. That haughty, resistant, argumentative attitude was one of the ways that I would reclaim my power when I felt a lack of power. I’d try to regain my power Now I know better.

Opening my heart to collaboration and cooperation is my power! When we work together we are so much stronger than when we work alone. Working together we can form a collective intelligence that is far greater and more powerful than anything I could create alone. It can also be far more satisfying.

Now, I prefer to be a bridge-builder and a collaborator.

The blessings are enormous and I am grateful every day!

A powerful daily spiritual practice is to find one significant way that you can cooperate more effectively with the people in your family, your workplace, school or community.

By being willing to cooperate I build a bridge.

As I walk across the bridge I bring with me an offering of my heart. By a simple act such as this, I make the world a more peaceful place and that’s being truly helpful. It’s not so hard to fulfill your purpose when you know your purpose is simply to Love and be loved.

Transcending Despair and Dread

Saturday, August 29th, 2020

It’s very common for people to go through a period of despair on the way to rising up out of the ego’s quagmire.  I certainly did. Despair is a systemic hopelessness.

And some people get caught in despair and dread.  It’s not a failure, but it can feel like that.  There’s the opportunity to shed the beliefs, and heal the root causes.

We don’t have to settle with dread and despair.

We don’t have to manage it or cope with it.

We can have a healing.

When we believe many of the ego thoughts and move into a place of feeling that there’s no hope for us then despair is quick to follow.

It feels natural, in a way.

If we believe the insanity of the ego we’ll feel trapped.

If we feel trapped without a way out, then we’re going to feel despair.

We can actually choose not just to be hopeful, but to be visionary.  We can hold a vision of Love for our lives.  Being willing to hold a vision can feel impossible when we’re hopeless.  I get that.

We don’t have to have a vision of total transformation, but we can.  We can just have a vision for small things that we enjoy to keep encouraging us.

Having a vision of even a small bit of happiness can make a huge difference in our life.

Spirit is such a powerful thing – and we can let it teach us how to heal the despair by giving it to Spirit for healing.

A willingness to be hopeful even about something small – like being hopeful about having your favorite ice cream or watching your favorite tv show can be transformative.

Energetically, being hopeful about ANYTHING can be life sustaining.  I find it’s very helpful to ask for a sign that we’re on the right path.

We don’t have to live in despair, that part is a choice.

Settling is a choice.

Deciding to live with it is a choice.

We may not know how to find the choice, but Spirit does.  Let’s give Spirit the heavy lifting of removing our despair and pointing the way.  Let’s ask for a sign today!

Would you like to catapult yourself forward on this healing journey?

This September, something amazing is going to happen and it’s called my Stop Playing Small Retreat – let’s get some real results and unblock the flow of Love in our lives. There’s a whole lot of healing going to happen!

Sharing Our Gifts and Talents

Monday, August 17th, 2020

Everyone has talents. Everyone is brilliant in their own way – I’ve definitely seen this is true, especially as a spiritual counselor for 20 years.

Many people are hiding their talents, or underutilizing them.

It’s crazy that so many people are actually resistant and reluctant to do the very thing that would make them happy. They’re utterly convinced that something “out there” is preventing them. They blame their playing small on circumstances, when life’s situations and circumstances are the by-product of our choices, beliefs and thoughts.
If we don’t use our gifts and talents, do we lose them? Or do they just lay dormant? Certainly, we’ll be missing wonderful and fulfilling opportunities to be an authentic, inspiring and healing presence in the world if we don’t shine our light.

Why keep our light under a bushel?

We all have an interesting and unique relationship to our possessions, including our gifts and talents.

In THE PATHWAY OF ROSES, Christian D. Larson wrote, “Every individual is entitled to all the riches of the spiritual kingdom, and in addition, to the possession of as many things … as he can possibly appreciate and use in the enrichment of all the realms of his own entire existence. But before he can secure all these things, he must cause his personal nature and his spiritual nature to live together as one … the first essential is to make the best use possible of everything that we may possess now.”

How do we cause our personal nature and our spiritual nature to live together as one? For me, it’s ALL about staying focused on making loving choices. When I’m focused on making loving choices I’m aligned with Spirit and I’m not judging, not creating difficulties for myself and others.

Today I choose to be willing to use what I have.

So many people want more, but they don’t appreciate and make use of what they have. Let’s all be willing to look at ourselves from a Divine perspective.

Let’s consider things from a higher, spiritual perspective:

Would you be willing to give to someone more riches and rewards if they didn’t appreciate and make use of the ones they had? Wouldn’t that be a waste?

Do you have the ability to be kind? Do you have the ability to forgive? Are you a good listener? Do you have an opportunity to be generous or helpful? Go for it!

Let’s use the opportunities we have to extend Love and make our life more fully loving! Let’s go for it!

Can you think of a gift or talent that you have that you’re letting lay dormant? What’s your intention? Do you have one? Are you managing, coping or settling with not making use of your talents as you’d like?

Put Spirit in charge – be willing to do that much, and you’ll see a shift!

Finding Courage to Awaken!

Sunday, August 16th, 2020

In order for any of us to actually awaken to our true identity as perfect Love, we have to be willing to bravely look within … and take out the trash! It’s so life-changing when we can stop identifying with the trash thoughts we’ve collected and actually give them to Spirit for healing.

It takes courage to look above the battleground of our stinkin’ thinkin’ and hold a vision of Love for our lives.

One of the things I love so much about A Course in Miracles is that it tells us,

“You want to be happy. You want peace. You do not have them now, because your mind is totally undisciplined, and you cannot distinguish between joy and sorrow, pleasure and pain, love, and fear. You are now learning how to tell them apart. And great indeed will be your reward. Your decision to see is all that vision requires. What you want is yours. Do not mistake the little effort that is asked of you for an indication that our goal is of little worth.” Lesson 20 I am determined to see.

It’s hard to believe that such a great reward comes from the decision to have a vision, yet the decision is required. I meet so many people who believe, often in secret, that they don’t have what it takes to be happy, successful, loving, and Joy-full. Their secret belief is running their life. They don’t even see that they can decide to have a different life.

Admitting it to ourselves is a big first step. It’s like being addicted to something. The first step in healing is to admit that you are feeling out of control and addicted. Admitting that your thoughts and behaviors are compulsive and you feel unable to stop yourself opens the door to the possibility of healing. Without that willingness to look at the shadow, we can stay stuck for a very long time.

A Course in Miracles tells us that it’s a mind-training system to help us recognize that where there’s a shadow, there’s something in our mind that’s blocking the light, and we can give it to the Higher Holy Spirit Self to do the heavy lifting. But if we won’t admit to ourselves that we’ve got this challenge, will we ever actually be available to the healing? Will we be stuck for lifetimes looking at the darkness instead of the light?

Realizing “I’m not the only one” is one of the major aha’s that people have in this community. They start to realize that many people feel the way they do, and have the same perceptions.

And some of them are willing to go first to share, to heal, to change their minds.
That’s spiritual leadership.
It requires courage and it’s easier when there’s lots of support.
Being RECEPTIVE to support is key.
Being willing to release RESISTANCE and RELUCTANCE is also required.

There was a long period in my life where I felt helpless and hopeless a lot of the time, but I couldn’t admit it to anyone. I buried it deep because I so firmly believed it was completely impossible to have healed. Fortunately, it felt so awful, I couldn’t take it anymore and I finally decided to stop depending on my own strength to heal and I invoked the Higher Holy Spirit Self to do the heavy lifting. I made the decision to stop punishing myself and go for it.

Now, every day I connect with someone who is feeling deeply challenged and looking to find the courage to not give up and they’re reaching out to me. And almost every day I hear from someone who has found the courage to choose a new thought and they’re having a miraculous healing. And we’re all one, all on the same journey.

We know we’re not open to healing when we blame anyone else for how we feel. We are a closed door, like a bank vault hiding a treasure, when we’re blaming and complaining. There’s no healing happening until we’re willing to take responsibility. Taking responsibility for the way we feel, the mess we made, the things we did and said – 100% responsibility with 0% blame is often an act of bravery so potent that it will literally begin to transform our life onto a path of healing that is miraculous. I see it all the time.

One of the great privileges I have in this ministry is that I get to have 1 on 1 conversations with the brave souls who are in our classes and trainings. I’ve been talking with many of them lately and I am so inspired by their courage, their healing and their progress.

On the surface, it might not seem as though it takes much bravery to participate in a spiritual class, but anyone on the awakening path knows that there are times, every day, when we’re given the opportunity to make a loving choice and it doesn’t feel comfortable. Together we, as a community, make a commitment to relinquish our judgments and opinions, our criticisms and complaints, in order to speak honestly and openly.

In my programs, as part of our healing we give each other the space to say how we REALLY feel and share what we’re REALLY going through and not put some kind of glossy spiritual spin on it pretending to convince ourselves it’s all good when we don’t really believe it.

It’s healing when we choose to keep it real with each other.
And that’s what Love is.
Love is real.

We’re practicing our holy relationships, intimate relationships, healing relationships with each other in a safe space without judgment so we can take the training wheels off in our relationships with family, friends and co-workers.

I’ve decided to offer my Stop Playing Small Retreat in September because it was SO successful when we did it earlier this year ONLINE. Amazing! I’m going to follow that with my Finding Freedom Spiritual Bootcamp class in September.

In our current Finding Freedom group, people are realizing that they’re going to need to have some courage to do this work of miraculous healing. Doing it together is so much easier and that’s why I love it when we can gather in a circle in any way shape or form. Being the two or more who are gathered gives us the opportunity to realize we’re not the only ones who feel the way we do.

If you’ve been a hoarder of complaints, opinions, judgments, and criticism along with a collection of resentments and regrets that you’re now ready to get rid of, stop thinking that you have to do it yourself, because you really cannot do it that way. Give it to Spirit and be willing to have healing.

Are you interested in stepping up your game and sharing your talents? Would you like to inspire others?

Your demonstration of willingness is an act of courage.

There’s no big or small about it.

The tiniest bit of willingness is an act of courage.

Just saying “yes” to healing is an act of courage.

Be willing to tell Spirit each day “I AM willing to have a healing” and see what Spirit provides. Have the courage to accept and allow the healing. I’m consistently amazed at the active bravery of spiritual students who are willing to look within, face their perceptions, and release them to be healed!

Whenever you’re feeling upset in any way, it’s your golden opportunity to choose to heal. Have the courage to go for it – be willing to allow a pause before you choose. Your willingness lifts us all. All boats rise on this tide of Love.

There’s so much healing that happens when we intend to share our Light with others! When others rise and shine, it’s my answered prayer!

What I know, with every fiber of my being, is that Spirit cannot fail. Only the ego experiences failure. Let’s let go of the very idea of failure. It is a false belief that has no power of its own without our investment in it. We choose Freedom today!

Seeing Clearly and Correctly

Saturday, August 15th, 2020

We don’t see what we cannot see.

I used to get so annoyed with people because they weren’t observing what I thought was SO obvious.  I mean, how could they NOT see it?  It’s right there!

It was frustrating to me that people couldn’t get the things – all kinds of things – that seemed so completely obvious and “in your face” apparent to me.  It seemed to me just plain willful ignorance.  I was convinced they didn’t want to see.

Now, I’m able to realize that we just cannot see what we’re not a vibrational match for.

For instance, some people can see so many ways and opportunities to be helpful, and they can tell whether it’s their call to do something or let it be and hold the high watch.

Some people can see that people are challenged and can use some encouragement, and some people just see someone in their way.

Some people can see that someone is being so very kind and helpful to a stranger and others won’t even notice what’s occurring.

This is what Jesus was referring to when he talked about having “the eyes to see and the ears to hear.”

Our gifts and answered prayers can be right under our nose, but if we cannot recognize them, how would we know they’re there?

Many times when I’m working or writing intensely people can come in the room I’m in and start to do things for many minutes before they recognize I’m there.  They’re startled by my presence.  I can’t say for certain what it’s about, but I do feel there are times when I turn on a cloaking device in order to avoid being interrupted and many times people can’t even see me when I’m right there.

The other morning I was meditating on the porch, sitting on my yoga mat, and I’d been there for a while, completely still.  Suddenly this tiny chipmunk ran up onto the porch and towards me and was about to leap onto me when I opened my eyes and SCREAMED!  It startled and frightened us both.

The chipmunk stepped back a bit, and we just stared at each other.  We both realized all was well and we’d just had a momentary upset of no consequence.

I wanted to call him to come to me so I could pet him, but I also wanted to go back to my meditation.  And I also didn’t want him to start to come up on the porch and dig around in the plants and make a mess.

It’s a powerful and helpful skill to be able to recognize what’s going on around us, without getting caught in the difficulties people are having.  I won’t join people in worry and upset.  And I’ve learned when to offer a hand, and when not to.

Cultivating the ability to discern what’s really going on is VERY worthwhile.  It comes naturally when we’re willing to give up all attachment to judging and labeling.  It’s a magnificent trade – opinion for truth!  Let’s begin today!

Train In the Distance

Friday, July 17th, 2020

I’m in Vermont and enjoying the sounds of the countryside here in the Green Mountains near the Sunray Peace Village where I’ve been coming since 2006. I just LOVE the sounds of the birds. They lift me up all day long.

When I’m in Maine, on Deer Isle, in the summer one of the great sounds I dearly love is the sound of the foghorn in the distance. It’s faint, and so you don’t hear it all the time. The wind has to be right. It’s odd to really love the sound of the foghorn – after all, it’s a warning signal.

What I love is that it reminds me that I’m in a place I dearly love. I’ve been hearing it since 1986 and it feels like home to me. I love to sit on the porch and just listen to the birds and the foghorn. Maybe the waves lapping at the rocks if the tide is high. The call of the Osprey.

I love the sound of Paul Simon’s music and he wrote a song called Train In the Distance that is absolutely gorgeous. In the lyric of that beautiful song he says

“Everybody loves the sound of a train in the distance
Everybody thinks it’s true.”

It’s a clever lyric. I do think everyone loves the sound of a train in the distance. It makes sense to me.

When I think of the sound of a train in the distance it instantly transports me to my childhood and summer nights at my grandparents’ house in Bowling Green, Ohio. It’s a hot summer night with the windows open. Crickets and the train whistle in the distance. Feels like summer time, family love, hot nights, vacation time.

Everybody loves the sound of a train in the distance. Everybody thinks it’s true. I think that Paul Simon means that we hear the sound of something good coming, and we believe in it, we believe it’s real and true.

At the end of the song he says, “the thought that life could be better is woven indelibly into our hearts and our brains.”

The train in the distance is symbolic of that belief that life could be better.

Yes, I get it. I can agree with it.

Life can be better.
This is written in our heart.
And we are reaching for it, are we not?

Can we ever be satisfied with anything less than our awakened self?
I don’t think so. Why would we when we don’t have to be?
We’re going home, to the Real world and our true identity in Spirit.

The still small voice reminds us every day that we can choose higher. No shame if we don’t, but what a reward when we do!

I was never one to flip people “the bird.”  That’s not my style.  Yet, I’ve done my share of being sarcastic and mean to folks.  Sometimes I’ve felt like it all happened so fast that my worst instincts got the better of me before I could even put a stop to it.  Have you ever had that happen?  Most people have.

It’s a result of feeling overwhelmed and stressed in the moment.

Many of us feel there’s nothing we can do about it.

And some of us feel that it’s not our fault.

I used to believe both of those things.

Years of deciding to release my judgments and opinions has cleared my mind so that I now have the space to feel calm and peaceful no matter what, IF I WOULD LIKE TO. It still comes down to my willingness and my personal choice.

I’m so grateful I have a choice!

Going the “other way” isn’t a burden.

I think of it as flipping the switch.

If I walk into an utterly dark room and it’s scary, I can flip the switch, turn on the light and realize the darkness has no power, only the light has power.

The darkness is nothing.

The Light is something.

Only the Light has power.

It has the power to instantaneously eliminate darkness.

The darkness doesn’t complain, argue, resist or refuse – it can’t, because it’s NO-THING.  Light is everything.

Let’s focus on the Light.

And learn to remember to flip the switch!

Trust As A Skill

Wednesday, July 15th, 2020

We all have challenges going on in our life that we’d rather not look at. We want to hide and run from them. I was talking a bit about this in my podcast yesterday. Many times, we choose to avoid looking at them because they’re overwhelming to us. It’s not that we’re completely unwilling to examine what’s going on, we’re just overwhelmed. It’s too much for us to handle. We don’t have the inner resources.

Sometimes it can feel that we simply don’t have the energy, the mental or emotional bandwidth, the time to look at something and so we just keep pushing it to the sideline. What then begins to happen is that tension begins to build.

Some people have a habit of denying, delaying and procrastinating until there’s so much tension they HAVE to do something.

Sometimes we treat our life like one of those rubber-band airplanes that you wind up tighter and tighter until we have enough tension to fly.

What I’ve learned is that if I wait until there’s an intense pressure before I make a move, then I’m creating stress that may not be necessary.

We’re developing the spiritual maturity to address things directly and without delay. It makes life easier, cleaner, neater and dramatically eases tension.

Being Self-loving is healing. We often look outside ourselves for all kinds of healing solutions to physical, emotional, mental, financial, relationship and many other kinds of issues, but the solution is often to be kind and loving to ourselves.

When we’re Self-loving, then we naturally open to divinely inspired solutions to our challenges and we don’t have to have lots of simmering pots on the back burners. We don’t have to create an unbearable tension in order to choose to fly, we can steadily and devotedly Love ourselves free of lack, attack and limitation and then life gets a whole lot easier. Spiritual solutions naturally present themselves.

Let’s make a commitment to making the Self-loving choices that make life more enjoyable and more successful.

Let’s decide that we can transcend overwhelm. Instead of looking outside for solutions, let’s discover how problems actually dissolve when we live a life of Self-Love. It might sound crazy, but Love really is the healer of problems.

How do we do it? We Partner UP and trust spirit to lead us and guide us. This is the way that works. It’s far more nurturing then managing and coping. It does require a willingness to trust – and that’s a skill that can be learned.

It can be difficult to trust, but if we’re willing it will become a new skill.

We’ll all get there eventually. Why not start today?

Focused On Awakening

Monday, July 13th, 2020

Holding focus is an extremely valuable skill to have. When you can hold your mental focus then you can access the unlimited power of Spirit. It works in so many beautiful ways. For instance, have you ever seen a child focus on something important to them, such as getting a new bicycle or a video game?

A few years ago, I was at the mall with my nephew Mikey who was focused on getting a new video game that was coming out in the fall. He’d been doing things to earn money to get the game he had his mind set on. It was clear that he was willing to do what it took to have what he’d set his mind on.

Mikey was focused and he succeeded. There was no obsession, no upset, just a clear intention and a strong desire that became fulfilled through his focused attention. Many of us have had experiences like that.

Right now, everything in our lives is conspiring to keep us focused on our ascension and our awakening.

As adults, we sometimes forget that we can manifest our hearts desires. We can acquire many beliefs that get in the way of our ability to hold the focus on what we’d like to experience. Sometimes we have repeated experiences of not getting what we want, and then we feel it’s too risky to set our heart on something. Doubt creeps in.

Sometimes because we have experiences of being mean, unforgiving, judgmental, and holding grudges, we begin to feel guilty and unworthy of the things we would like to experience and have. We don’t allow ourselves to even discover what it is we’d like.

If we don’t feel worthy of ascension, will we allow ourselves to prepare for it?
What if we knew all were worthy, if they were prepared?

When I first began working as a spiritual counselor, I met so many people who were either afraid to say what they most desired or they were unable to even allow themselves to be aware of what they desired. For some, just being in touch with their heart’s desire was a journey deep within because it was so completely buried. There was great fear of even knowing their heart’s calling.

I work with many people who are intensely afraid to allow themselves to invest in energizing their heart’s desire. Yet, without a willingness to connect with Spirit, focus on the heart’s desire, and relinquish any related attachments, many people remain unfulfilled. We must learn to ALLOW. Without our active allowance and receptivity, the flow is just a dribble.

For me, one of the most beautiful parts of my life is supporting the people in Finding Freedom, Masterful Living, Prayer Practitioner Training, Minister and Teacher Training as well as in my Spiritual Counseling Training. Seeing how they allow themselves to have their heart’s desires uplifts me.

Not only does their willingness and focus bring them tremendous healing, it also brings them many other benefits and inevitably many other people benefit too. It’s miraculous!

So much healing comes from cultivating the willingness to develop the ability to focus on your heart’s desire. Yes, it does bring up fears to be healed, but isn’t that part of our mission to bring benefit to all humanity? I know it is!!

Forgiveness is a big part of that road to being able to focus.

Forgiving the debtors and the trespassers opens up the flow of prosperity in your life. It’s not just a matter of willingness, it helps to know HOW to forgive.

You can get my free “How to Get Over It” forgiveness workshop on the home page of – it’s a great way to start releasing the blocks and opening up the flow of abundance – won’t you please share with someone now and open the flow for yourself?

Everything is Working for Us

Saturday, June 20th, 2020

There are times when it can seem like everything is against us. In truth, everything is for us even if it seems like it’s against us. We have to relax and be willing to relinquish our perspective to see what’s true.

Yesterday, we went into Mercury retrograde. This is a planetary movement that many view as troublesome, but is actually very supportive of our spiritual journey.

This is a time for us to be highly introspective and meditative.

Yes, we might find that technology issues are a problem, but isn’t that worth the spiritual benefits?

I long ago decided that Mercury retrograde works in my favor and not against me and I encourage you to do the same!

This is great time to deepen our commitment to our personal goals.

During this time of Covid-19, instead of looking to rush out to the restaurants reopening – why not take advantage of the planetary alignment with Solstice today and the new moon and eclipse tomorrow.

Everything is working for us, including the planetary alignments!

Here’s the opportunity: Focus within, stay off the screens and devices, sit in nature, and get deeply in touch with what’s most important to YOU.

You’ll never regret the time you invested in your spiritual practice!
Finding Freedom From Fear Bootcamp starts on July 5! Let’s have REAL and lasting transformation this summer with a spiritual practice that brings benefits and healing for all. Now is the time for us to dive deep and eliminate the patterns of fear in our life.

Speed Up Your Spiritual Awakening

Tuesday, January 7th, 2020

Is there a single practice that will change your life and speed up your awakening? Yes, there is. A Course in Miracles tells us that the practice is forgiveness, specifically, SELF-forgiveness.

If you’re seeing your life-improving steadily and beautifully,
If you’re feeling lighter and happier,
If you’re feeling more connected to Spirit,
Then you are definitely practicing Self-forgiveness.

If you’re studying lots of books and listening to lots of audios, but you’re not feeling happier, lighter and more successful as a spiritual student, Self-forgiveness is the tool to use.

Self-forgiveness goes so much deeper than most people realize – it certainly goes FAR deeper than I ever realized, and I’ve learned SO MUCH in the last 20 years of teaching Self-forgiveness.

There are SO MANY practices we can apply to speed up our spiritual awakening, but none is so helpful as is making the decision that you truly are interested in awakening from the dream of separation.

Once you make that decision, Self-forgiveness becomes your constant companion.

The dream of separation will lull us into a deep slumber of suffering.

Separation thinking shows up as ALL of our experiences of having problems and living in lack and limitation. When we believe we’re separate, we experience lack and limitation. This need not be. AND we must forgive ourselves for perpetuating the very habits, beliefs, and patterns that have caused our pain and sense of loss.

“Yet where are dreams but in a mind asleep? And can a dream succeed in making real the picture it projects outside itself? Save time, my brother; learn what time is for. And speed the end of idols in a world made sad and sick by seeing idols there. Your holy mind is altar unto God, and where He is no idols can abide. The fear of God is but the fear of loss of idols.”
~ A Course in Miracles, T-29.VII.9.

Our idols can be our complaints and grievances. Idols can be the ways we become so attached to doing things our way rather than placing our faith and trust in Spirit. We can shift that.

We CAN really speed up our healing, and that’s the great gift we can all give ourselves.

When we give ourselves this gift of deep spiritual practice, we share all the benefits with everyone.

That’s why our family, friends, and co-workers begin to have healing, too. We’re all sharing the same mind.

The development of trust is just one of the things we practice in my yearlong Masterful Living Course. We actively practice healing the sense of separation that keeps us disconnected from Spirit. We cultivate the relationship with Spirit. We transform the most painful parts of our life.

Quickening Your Awakening

Tuesday, November 26th, 2019

Yesterday I had two people ask me about self-sabotage. This is a topic I know A LOT about. I’ve engaged in SO MUCH self-sabotage in my life and it taught me a lot.

One thing I’ve learned is that everyone engages in self-sabotage. It’s part of life. Some people REALLY judge themselves for it, and that becomes yet another layer of self-sabotage. In a sense, it’s like adding insult to injury. Ugh.

Self-sabotage is for the purpose of slowing down our spiritual growth.
It’s very effective.
AND it’s completely reversible as well as stoppable.

In order to eliminate self-sabotage, we can focus on Self-Love and release and replace.

We release the habits of sabotaging ourselves by focusing on having an effective spiritual practice and employing it each day.

An effective spiritual practice is one that eliminates the root causes of negative and self-destructive behavior.

An effective spiritual practice eliminates the root causes of self-hatred and self-sabotage.

I am grateful that we can make changes that are profoundly healing and nourishing. I am grateful we can change our minds.

I used to stay up late watching television and falling asleep in front of the television.

That was a form of self-sabotage, because then the next day I’d regret it and I’d beat myself up for the choice I’d made the night before.

The first step toward healing was to stop beating myself up. Once I stopped that, then it was easy to eliminate the staying up late doing something that really didn’t mean anything to me.

AND I began to feel a true and consistent quickening in my awakening!

That’s how I learned that self-sabotage is for the purpose of slowing down our awakening.

What is something that you can see as being in the neighborhood of self-sabotage, and what is something you could replace it with that you’d actually enjoy? Let’s inspire each other today!

35 Days to January 1st – I share what I learned that shifted me out of my habits of spinning around in the same repeating upsets in my Masterful Living Course 2020. Registration is open NOW. My Prayer for Partnering UP

Monday, November 11th, 2019

As promised in my “Forgive Me. Here Come the Holidays” class yesterday, I mentioned that I would put this prayer in “My Daily Shot of Spiritual Espresso” today. I’m also making it the recorded prayer for today.

This is a version of my daily prayer that I started praying about 20 years ago. Prayer works! It has transformed my life.

Prayer and forgiveness are the 2 best tools I have.

I encourage you to use this prayer or write of your own to use on a daily basis to improve the quality of every minute of your life!

Prayer for Partnering UP!

I AM that I AM.
I AM my I AM Presence.
I AM One with the One and for this, I am truly grateful.
In the name of my beloved I AM, I ask that my Higher Holy Spirit Self, my I AM Presence, lead and guide me to be in the flow of Love in all moments of this day and in every area of my life.
I intend to be easily led and guided to choose the highest and best in each moment.
I allow myself to receive the blessings that are mine to receive.
I allow myself to recognize the most loving choices this day.
Higher Holy Spirit Self, please make loving choices so attractive to me that I cannot mistake them.
Help me to choose Love and to live my life as a joyful and abundant prayer of the heart.
Help me to recognize my life is the eternal life of God.
I AM dedicated to being a loving and beneficial presence on this planet.
I choose to be truly helpful.
I AM blessed & I AM a blessing.
I share the benefits of my healing and expansion with everyone because I AM one with them.
I AM awakening to know my true identity and the true identity of my brothers and sisters.
We are one in Love, eternally and for this and all the blessings I receive this day, I AM so very grateful.
In the name of my Beloved I AM, I know that it is done.
I allow myself to accept it as done and so it IS.

You can click here now to download a PDF copy.

If you’d like more support for having a miraculous breakthrough with forgiveness, please join me in my Forgive & Be Free three-part class. We start on Thursday and you’ll get the replay of each of the three classes plus transcripts, plus homework and follow up break-out calls next week. Lots of opportunities to REALLY do this forgiveness work and substantially deepen your practice.

This year, let’s stop paying lip service by SAYING we’re willing but not actually living it. We can bring on a breakthrough FAR beyond what we can imagine when we’re truly willing to truly forgive. If you don’t know how, here’s how! Join me!

Why wait? Now is the time for our healing! If you’re willing, I’m ready – let’s do it together!

Self-Love is Sanity

Friday, November 1st, 2019

Life is so crazy. On the one hand, we are desperate for Love and are working so hard to get approval, and on the other hand we push it away and reject it over and over again. That is the insanity of the ego.

We’re seeking Love because we feel unworthy of Love, and then we reject it for the very same reason. Nuts!

The fastest way I know of to end this nonsense is to actively choose Love. This means being able to make loving choices all day long. And that means being able to recognize the unloving choices and say no to them.

One of the most unloving choices we can make is to be manipulative to other people. We do it to get approval, but if we knew we were worthy of Love we wouldn’t do ANYTHING to get approval, because we’d know that we are pre-approved by our Creator.

Every manipulative thing we do is a cry for Love.
Every manipulative choice we make is an affirmation that we are unworthy of Love, so we have to try to steal it or coerce it and then, of course, we know that it’s not real Love, and so it’s like eating cotton candy. It’s a temporary distraction with no fulfillment and no nourishment.

We can be manipulative to get other people to do what WE think they should do, as well as to get them to like us, stay with us, marry us, be with us, and not leave us.

And that’s why I’m a proponent of Self-Love and Self-Care.

Would you plan your days the way you do if you knew you were completely loved and lovable?

Let’s look at our choices and ask Spirit to guide us to the most loving choices we can find. That’s what turns the tables on the self-destructive patterns of the ego that only take us down a rabbit hole of negativity.

Self-Love is healing and liberating – it’s the path to everything we desire that’s worthwhile.

Today is the day the Lord has made for us to Love ourselves and each other. Let’s go for it!

What is an unloving habit that you’ve been able to let go of and replace with Self-Love? Please share it with us in the comments below!

Surviving Intense Times with Grace

Sunday, October 20th, 2019

What I am noticing is that the time of healing is getting increasingly intense for all of us.  People are melting down and flipping out.

For those who are fully committed to being loving and compassionate, it does get easier and easier. Still, there’s not one of us that isn’t being energetically pushed to give up the habits, beliefs, and patterns that keep us playing small.

In my own experience, I noticed a pattern that repeated itself for many years until I finally broke out of it.

My pattern was this:

I would get triggered by something. Something would happen that felt like it was wrong and bad. It felt like a betrayal or a loss. I would start to ruminate on it, building my case like a lawyer gathering evidence for the dark side of my personality. I call it making “resentment stew.”

I would continue to stir that pot and eat from it, day after day, strengthening my case to argue about the unfairness, the blame, and my resentment. It was as though I was constantly arguing my case before God, looking for God to make me right and to make THINGS in my life right.

It took me A VERY LONG TIME – many, many years, to realize that the daily consumption of “resentment stew” was driving a whole sequence of things – it was part of a very intense pattern.

Here’s what I learned:

The making of the “resentment stew” would lower my vibration, which made me unable to see many good things that were available to me. I literally couldn’t see them or receive them because I wasn’t a vibrational match for them. Instead, I became a vibrational match for things I DID NOT want happening in my life.

My choice to ruminate on what I didn’t like and didn’t want just brought more of it into my life, because like attracts like.

Then I would find myself withdrawing into isolation and self-medication in order to drown out how I was feeling and, of course, lowered my vibration even more. It gained me even more time to ruminate on what I didn’t like and weave the web of attachment to upset.

There were times in that stuck place of self-medicating that I would literally think “This is all I have. This momentary distraction and fake pleasure of self-medication, the numbing of my mind and senses.” It was the only thing I was “enjoying.” I lost track of what real enjoyment, pleasure, and happiness were. My whole perspective got skewed and twisted.

I knew it was self-sabotage. I hated myself for it. I felt compelled and addicted. AND, because of focusing so much on resentment and revenge, I didn’t have the strength to lift myself out of it. My negativity made me weak. Like Superman and kryptonite – our resentments and judgments make us weak.

It is a dangerous and slippery slope.

It felt like I was caught in a whirlpool that was pulling me down, further and further. I wanted so much to live a spiritual life – to get God’s Seal of Approval and goodness, and it would seem further and further away.

The pull of the negative pattern was SO STRONG.

I remember thinking this thought “When I die from being stuck in this pattern, they should write on my gravestone – ‘She tried, she really tried, but she just couldn’t do it – the pull was too strong.'”

I couldn’t see the pattern until I was willing to take responsibility for it. I had to stop blaming others for how I felt and where I was in my experience. When I finally became honestly willing to commit to giving up my attack thoughts – the judgments and opinions, and all the attachments to the meaning I made of things, my interpretations and what I thought was right and wrong – that’s when things changed for me.

Because of my willingness to look for loving thoughts and to stop energizing the unloving thoughts, I learned that true gratitude raises my vibration very quickly. It was a relief to be grateful and raise my vibration!

I learned to be grateful for everything and to practice it as part of my spiritual practice ALL DAY LONG. I began to trade the constant judging attack thoughts for being truly grateful, and that led me to see that I am the one who is responsible for everything in my life.

I learned that everything serves a good and holy purpose in my life – everything. And, I learned to accept that fact with gratitude, even when it didn’t make any sense for me. And I learned to ask for help from the I AM Presence – the Higher Holy Self.

I realized I was never upset for the reason I thought, and I was always upset when I didn’t take responsibility and didn’t choose gratitude. It was pretty simple, really. Phew! I started to see some light at the end of this birthing tunnel.

Gratitude raises us up so we can see and hear and feel and know more clearly the truth that sets us free.

The most challenging and torturous situations in my life became a Godsend. Literally. I couldn’t see that until I was willing to see it. (This is why I say: You gotta wanna.) The intensity of my challenges gave me the PRESSURE COOKER to be vigilant and change my mind 1000 times a day.

I began to be grateful for everything, even when it felt like my heart was breaking and my mind was at war with itself. That pressure cooked me, and I began to live a miraculous life — because of my willingness.

In the last 19 years of counseling, teaching classes and workshops, and leading retreats, I’ve experienced a lot of miraculous healing and I’ve witnessed a lot of miraculous healing. My offerings are about doing the work – rolling up your spiritual sleeves and getting to it – in the community – with like-minded souls who also have some degree of willingness.

Together we wipe away the shame, reluctance, resistance, self-hatred, and the stains of all the mistakes of the past. A lot of the time it’s not easy. It requires attention and willingness. It rocks our world. And, it does bring a miraculous life – a life of miracles, unfolding Joy and Beauty. It’s a fact.

Sometimes the 3-D world of form seems so intense. I call it density, because that’s how it feels when we’re stuck in the muck and mire. What we don’t know is that the density becomes so intense to get us in order to squeeze us to finally make a decision to do things differently. It’s like the pressure that is put on a piece of coal to reveal the diamond that is possible. It’s like a birthing.

Birthing is never easy, never pretty. It’s always quite messy. There’s screaming and crying and pain.

We all have a diamond heart we’re giving birth to. We can discover it willingly and gratefully or with tremendous pressure, or we can give up and come back later. It’s up to us. It’s our choice. This world is about choice.

Rev. Michael Beckwith introduced me – spiritually – to the wonderful Christian Mystic, Dr. Howard Thurman whose writings have been an inspiration to me. I share this with you now as an offering of inspiration to remember you are true diamond heart nature:

The Moments of High Resolve

“Despite the dullness and barrenness of the days that pass, if I search with due diligence, I can always find a deposit left by some former radiance. But I had forgotten. At the time it was full-orbed, glorious, and resplendent. I was sure that I would never forget. In the moment of it’s fullness, I was sure that it would illumine my path for all the rest of my journey. I had forgotten how easy it is to forget.

“There was no intent to betray what seemed so sure at the time. My response was whole, clean, authentic. But little-by-little, there crept into my life the dust and grit of the journey. Details, lower-level demands, all kinds of crosscurrents – nothing momentous, nothing overwhelming, nothing flagrant – just wear and tear. If there had been some direct challenge, a clear-cut issue, I would have fought it to the end and beyond.

“In the quietness of this place, surrounded by the all-pervading presence of God, my heart whispers: Keep fresh before me the moments of my High Resolve, that in fair weather or in foul, in good times or in tempests, in the days when the darkness and the foe are nameless or familiar, I may not forget that to which my life is committed.”

Keep fresh before me the moments of my high resolve. ~ Dr. Howard Thurman

In this time of birthing, don’t give up. Keep fresh before you the moments of your high resolve. Call upon the Higher Holy Self to lead the way and bring the Light. Find like-minded souls to go through the journey with. Give yourself extra support, tenderness, and care. Begin to speak to yourself with words of Love, “Darling, you can do it, you ARE doing it. Sweetheart, you have what it takes. Everything is for you and nothing is against you. You already are perfect Love.”

Now is our time, now is your time. You DO have what it takes – it’s pre-installed and cannot be damaged or removed. The Kingdom is within, seek first the Kingdom and ALL else will be added unto you. A little gratitude and willingness will turn the tide today. It always does.

Every day I offer “”My Shot of Spiritual Espresso”.  I write spiritual inspiration and record a prayer for our healing.  Prayer is a power tool for our liberation.  We use technology to transcend time and space and deepen our spiritual practice and connect with each other.  Our spiritual practice is our path of liberation.  And that’s beautiful to share!

We’re all on a journey of expanding awareness, and there’s so much help for us in the invisible.  We’re never alone.  I Love you, and I thank God for you.  We bless each other with our willingness to rise in Spirit and come back into our right minds.

Together we’re answering our call to BE the Love.  YES!

Spiritual Fitness

Thursday, October 17th, 2019

Cultivating the ability to GENUINELY be aware of our thoughts is to living a miraculous life what stretching and exercising are to have a healthy body. Many people satisfy themselves with reading about spirituality and listening to audios about spirituality. They don’t break a sweat. There’s no real exercise in it.

It’s like getting a gym membership, putting on your exercise outfit, going to the gym and watching everyone else workout while reading a book about what they’re doing and then listening to audio about what they did and how they did it. It’s “armchair spirituality”. We can have gain without pain, but we cannot grow without doing the inner work.

We all have a personal trainer in the Higher Holy Spirit Self, but we must be willing to do what the Trainer advises. And that Personal Trainer that we ALL have is always inviting us to be loving to ourselves, because we’re worthy of Love.

ALL are worthy.

Unworthiness is the most chronic illness that people have in this world. It attacks us mentally and emotionally – but only if we agree. It has no power if we don’t agree.

When we get triggered into feeling life is too hard and feel helpless and hopeless, that’s the time to put on our workout gear, Partner UP with our own Higher Holy Spirit Self and look at our stinking thinking.

When we get triggered, it’s important to realize that we’re being helped to release the thoughts that are being triggered. It’s time to change our minds and release our attachments to the thoughts that are upsetting us. If our thoughts are upsetting us, it’s because they aren’t true.

Anytime we believe something that’s false it upsets us, it’s our “Divine Alarm Clock” going off letting us know that it’s time for healing through that inner exercise of relinquishing the false, affirming the truth, and choosing Freedom.

I AM available for healing.

I AM grateful for every healing opportunity. I AM victorious!

Do you notice that you sometimes feel people are unworthy of Love? Do you see that pattern shifting and changing in your heart and mind? Please share in the comments section below! I’d love to know!

Spirit of Ego?

Wednesday, October 16th, 2019

So many times I’ve had the experience of getting an idea to do something and not knowing if it was ego or intuition. I’d struggle with it. Ultimately, it would come down to me choosing what I wanted most. That wasn’t always a good thing.

I’m often asked – “How can I tell if it’s ego or intuition?” We’d like to know so we can choose correctly – or so it seems. What I’ve witnessed and learned from is that many people say they’d like to have greater intuition, but they’ll reject the guidance if it doesn’t match their plan.

Yes, as long as we’re IDENTIFIED with the ego-personality, the separate selfish self, then we’ll be confused about whether or not what we think is guidance from Spirit really is guidance.

It’s painful not knowing. It’s intensely challenging sometimes.

What helps is if we’re willing to really follow Spirit’s guidance.

It also helps if we’re doing lots of forgiveness and we’re dropping our judgments because that allows us to hear, feel, see, and know more clearly what’s really going on. Our false beliefs, opinions, resentments, blame, and shame cloud our view.

Intuition is a still, small Voice that is so distinct,
it can be heard over the cacophony of the ego
because it’s a higher vibration,
not because it’s louder.
Be willing to listen and you shall hear.

Intuition is without judgment – that’s what gives it the smallness.

Intuition is pure Love – that’s what gives it the stillness.

Have you ever been able to recognize the still small “Voice” through the intensity of ego insanity? Have you been able to follow it? Did it bring you miracles? Please share in the comments section below! I’d love to know!

Self-Defense is Attack

Monday, October 7th, 2019

One mental habit that takes up a LOT of time and energy is defending ourselves. Here’s an example from an experience I witnessed years ago:

Someone says: I wish there was coffee. I’d really love a cup right now.

Defender: You never said you were going to want coffee, so I didn’t prepare for that. If you had let me know you were going to want coffee I could have gotten it for you. All you had to do is let me know, but you never said anything about coffee, even though we talked about what we’d do today three times. You never once brought it up. So, I had no way of knowing. You never said anything to me about coffee.

Someone: Right, I get it. You didn’t make any mistakes. I never thought about it until right now. It was just a thought “It would be nice to have coffee now.” It’s not a big deal. I don’t need any coffee.

Defender: It’s not my fault there’s no coffee. You never mentioned that you might want coffee. I had no idea that you might want coffee. If I’d known, I could have prepared. I would have been happy to get you some coffee and have it ready for you if I’d known, but you never said anything.

Someone: It’s cool. Not a problem. You didn’t do anything wrong.

Defender: But if you’d just told me, you could have had what you wanted. I could have done that for you. I just had no way to know because you never said anything.

Someone: I get it. Can we please stop talking about this now?

Many of us have some version of this defensive habit.

It’s another way that we can recognize that we have a deep-seated belief that we’re bad, wrong, not enough, too much, unlovable, unworthy and it’s all a big hoax.

All of that mental gymnastics takes a lot of energy and it’s wearisome to everyone involved. How do we get out of the pattern?

Here’s what I did: I simply started to notice it and to notice that when I was defending myself I didn’t feel good. My Peace felt temporarily gone. I learned to stop mid-sentence and do a u-turn.

Instead of defending myself, I started to simply take 100% responsibility for everything that was happening and eliminate all blame.

I have found that taking 100% responsibility without any blame eases my pain, and that’s a worthwhile gain!

Try it and see for yourself!

Are you SO ready to give up the self-attack and self-defense patterns? True and lasting healing is available to us when we stop blocking the flow with regrets and resentments. If you’re interested in help with that, check out my Finding Freedom Spiritual Boot camp class which starts on Thursday, October 10.

All Rise

Monday, September 23rd, 2019

I find that wherever there’s a pain-point in my life, in my mind, in my body, there is the place where I’m holding onto an attachment to something that’s not serving me anymore.  I don’t wish to learn through the pain anymore.  I’m committed to learning through Joy – and yet, I don’t always know HOW to do that.

Fortunately, I don’t have to research the HOW. My job is to ALLOW the Higher Holy Spirit Self to figure that out.  My job is entirely on focusing on my willingness to discard the painful patterns of the past and to step into the habit of making the most loving choice I can see.

My view of my life, and my ability to SEE and recognize with whatever faculty, (it sure doesn’t need to be my physical sight) whatever are the most loving choices available to me is up to my willingness.

This past Saturday, I took my sweet 13-year-old nephew, Mikey, to Manhattan for a day of adventures, and one of the things we did was to see the Broadway show To Kill A Mockingbird, based on the famous novel of the same name by Harper Lee.  In the first part of the play, there’s the monologue about the use of ALL RISE in the courtroom when the proceedings begin.  Scout, the young girl, tells us that this is what we must do in times of community service and matters such as this particular trial – we must rise to the best of ourselves, conduct ourselves and make our choices from our Higher Holy Spirit Self.

It’s so valuable to ALL of us to choose to LIVE this way, and not just on special occasions.

We can live this way if we choose.

The more I’m able to live from my Higher Holy Spirit Self and conduct myself with Love and compassion, the more I LOVE my life and feel like I’m living life from my TRUE Self and not from reacting to circumstances.  It’s such a good feeling.  It also saves a HUGE amount of time, because I’m not having to clean up messes related to my reactions.

I love being able to pause and look for more loving choices and find them.  It’s exciting!  Spiritual practice is 24/7 when we’re truly willing.  Being willing is an active thing – it’s not passive at all.  When we’re actually willing we’re not waiting for opportunities to be loving and transcend and transmute the limited patterns of the past – we’re actively choosing those opportunities.  That’s what makes it so wonderful!

If you’ve had enough of repeating painful patterns from the past – consider accepting my gift.  I’m offering a LIVE VIDEO 2.5-hour workshop intensive next Saturday with a replay on Sunday and it’s my gift to you.  There’s no cost, but you do have to register. Click here to register now.

Is it True?

Sunday, July 28th, 2019

A Course in Miracles tells that we cannot judge and still hope to learn. Our judgments actually block our learning.

It makes sense when you think about it. If we prefer to think we know what everything is for, are we open to any insights or learning? No, we’re not, because we think we already know whatever is worth knowing. How can you be open to insight when you’ve already made up your mind what everything is for?

Have you had the experience of repeating the same errors, the same unkindness, the same self-attack, again and again, like a hamster on a wheel? I have, and my experience seemed to “prove” to me that I wasn’t very smart, that I wasn’t really learning anything from all my spiritual studies. Nothing could be further from the truth.

My experience didn’t prove my beliefs were correct. Not at all.

In fact, my experience was simply proving to me that my beliefs are made manifest as my experience.

Everything that was so painful for me was my interpretation of my experience. It didn’t have to be painful. I did that to myself. That’s how I learned to ask, “Is this actually true?”

This is so important to understand – it’s life changing.
Our unhappy experiences prove that we believe our false beliefs – the truth will set us free from repeating these unhappy experiences.

In New Thought we say, “Change your thinking, change your life.” And we talk about “false beliefs.”

It’s more helpful to realize that ALL beliefs are false and truth is true.
How do you know the difference between a belief and a truth?

All beliefs are conditional.
Truth is true for everyone all the time.

Beliefs are constantly shifting and changing, like the sinking sands.
Like God itself, Truth is unchanging – it’s the rock we can safely build our house upon.

I encourage us all to look around your life and see where you might have been misled into thinking that your experiences are proving your beliefs, when, in fact, your experience is just proving the existence of your belief.

When we rid ourselves of the belief we rid ourselves of the experience.

Many, many times I’ve spoken with people who felt helpless and hopeless in their relationships, their jobs, their body. When they become willing to change their minds and actually make the effort, they experience miracles. It really works!

How do we change our minds?
How do we rid ourselves of the false beliefs?

This is the focus of all that I share.

It’s actually incredibly simple, when we’re willing to make a change.
If we’re not willing to make a change, then we just keep revisiting the same painful lessons and it seems very hard – I know, this was me for a very long time.

We cannot judge and hope to learn.

To release the false beliefs, opinions, and judgments we offer them to the Higher Holy Spirit Self for healing. We don’t have to figure out HOW to have a healing, we simply ALLOW.

Sometimes we might have to release, let go and let God, 1000 or more times if we have a strong attachment to a belief. But if we do it a few times a day, then we’re sure to let it go before too long – anything is better than struggling with the same painful belief for years and decades.

In order to Love and cherish ourselves, we must be willing to do this work and let go of the past. It actually does work when we work it. When we work it, we realize we were never victims of the past. That was our interpretation. Everything is for us and nothing is against us when we see with Divine Eyes.

Now is the time for us to rise and shine and throw off these meaningless burdens of false beliefs!

Healing is easier than we might think. Our willingness to Partner UP with the Higher Holy Spirit Self to do the heavy lifting is the thing that works. I know, I’ve proved it and I’ve worked with thousands who have done the same. Let’s be willing to have a healing NOW!

If you’d like to some inspiration, check out my radio show episodes from the past two weeks: Healing the Mind About the Body Part 1 and Part 2.

Let’s make the most of every opportunity for our healing and awakening and remember to laugh when we forget. Every day I offer my shot of Spiritual Espresso. I write spiritual inspiration and record a prayer for our healing. Prayer is a power tool for our liberation. Pray with me today. The Prayer for Today is for Willingness to Awaken. We use technology to transcend time and space and deepen our spiritual practice and connect with each other. Our spiritual practice is our path of liberation. And that’s beautiful to share!

We’re all on a journey of relinquishing the blocks to Love and there is so much help for us in the invisible. We are never alone. I Love you and I thank God for you. We bless each other with our willingness to rise in Spirit and come back into our right minds. Together we truly are answering our call to BE the Love. YES!

Spirit In Charge

Saturday, July 27th, 2019

When it feels like there’s no way, Spirit can still make a way.
When it feels like only failure is possible, Spirit can still succeed.
When it feels like all is lost, Spirit can show us what’s valuable.
In God, all things worth doing, having and being are always possible.

When we’re feeling hopeless and helpless, then we’ve left God out of the equation, and that’s the real reason that we feel so down and desperate. We can say we think that we feel despair because of what’s happening in the world, but our upset is really because we’re not allowing Spirit to lead us, guide us, and direct us. And we can change our mind. We can go the other way.

When we’re willing to put Spirit in charge, then everything changes.

It can seem that we don’t want change. It can feel as if change is a threat and a worry. We can fear change because we can’t control it, but the fact is that we can’t control anything, so let’s not fool ourselves anymore.

We can look to the world for examples – at some of the most “powerful” people in the world and see how they try so hard to control things, and no matter how much “power and influence” they have, they still can’t control things to go their way.

In truth, there’s only one way, and that way is God’s Way. Let’s all get off the “pain train” and jump on board the Love Train. Let’s not wait until the pain is squeezing us so hard we just wish we were dead.

Let’s simply put Spirit in charge and allow the miracles to unfold. Let’s get out of the way.

And let’s get on with it, and do what we’re here to do – Love ourselves and each other.
“Wherever [the Holy Spirit] looks He sees Himself, and because He is united He offers the whole Kingdom always. This is the one message God gave to Him and for which He must speak, because that is what He is. The peace of God lies in that message, and so the peace of God lies in you. The great peace of the Kingdom shines in your mind forever, but it must shine outward to make you aware of it.A Course in Miracles, T-6.II.12.

Let’s join together to shine the light outward in order to see it more clearly!
