Rainbow Bridge

Saturday, September 19th, 2020

A Course in Miracles talks about the bridge we’re building to the Real world.  I feel it as a rainbow bridge of light.

This is one of my favorite readings in ACIM – it’s from the section entitled “The Rewards of Teaching.”

“To your most holy Self all praise is due for what you are, and for what He is Who created you as you are.  Sooner or later must everyone bridge the gap he imagines exists between his selves. Each one builds this bridge, which carries him across the gap as soon as he is willing to expend some little effort on behalf of bridging it.  His little efforts are powerfully supplemented by the strength of Heaven, and by the united will of all who make Heaven what it is, being joined within it.  And so the one who would cross over is literally transported there.

Your bridge is builded stronger than you think, and your foot is planted firmly on it.

Have no fear that the attraction of those who stand on the other side and wait for you will not draw you safely across.  For you will come where you would be, and where your Self awaits you.”

I find this section SO reassuring.  It’s clear that there is support, and we WILL make it across.

One of the most beautiful aspects of this life is that invisible support.  We’re not alone and we cannot be alone no matter how lonely we might feel.

We’re interconnected and interdependent. Whether we like it or not. Without a cooperative effort much of life would be unbearable and yet there are many times when I’ve felt momentarily resistant to being cooperative.

One of the primary ways I’ve experienced the ego identification is when I’ve felt that belligerence rise up within me and I’ve refused to cooperate. When I was younger, I felt it all the time. That haughty, resistant, argumentative attitude was one of the ways that I would reclaim my power when I felt a lack of power.  I’d try to regain my power  Now I know better.

Opening my heart to collaboration and cooperation is my power! When we work together we are so much stronger than when we work alone. Working together we can form a collective intelligence that is far greater and more powerful than anything I could create alone. It can also be far more satisfying.

Now, I prefer to be a bridge builder and a collaborator. The blessings are enormous and I am grateful every day!

A powerful daily spiritual practice is to find one significant way that you can cooperate more effectively with the people in your family, your workplace, school or community.

By being willing to cooperate I build a bridge.

As I walk across the bridge I bring with me an offering of my heart. By a simple act such as this I make the world a more peaceful place and that’s being truly helpful.  It’s not so hard to fulfill your purpose when you know your purpose is simply to Love and be loved.

Intuition & Ego

Thursday, September 17th, 2020

When our mind is cluttered with false beliefs, it becomes nearly impossible to feel confident about our intuition.  People will still have insights and experience guidance, but if they’re mostly fearful, they won’t trust it.  They can’t tell the difference between ego and intuition because there’s no stillness in their awareness.  Their inner life is a cacophony.

I’ve had many folks ask me over the years “How do I hear the voice of God?  How do I know if it’s intuition or ego?”  This is such an important and valuable question to ask! The answer is, the ego will always have a fear based conversation, the ego voice has attitude and judgment in it.  Whereas the voice of the Higher Holy Spirit Self, our Guides and Angels is usually devoid of attitude of any kind.  It can sometimes feel insistent and strong, but it doesn’t ever feel opinionated.

So often if we want to validate our opinions we’ll be confused about the guidance, intuition and insight we’re receiving.

If we’re truly interested in hearing the guidance then we simply relax into the listening.  You can open your mind to whatever it is – allow it to at least land in your mind and ripple out into your awareness before you give it the heave ho!

On many, MANY occasions I’ve been in a counseling or teaching situation with someone and I get very strong guidance from that person’s guides and angels of what they’d like me to tell the person.

Sometimes it feels like the Angels are so “loud” and strong, but it’s really more that they are clear and I’m willing to listen and the person they have a message for has not been honoring the guidance they’re getting.  When that is the case, so often, when I speak the guidance the person says “I get that thought all of the time!  Every day!  For years now!”  This has been my experience countless times.

I have had to learn not to go into judgment and think “they SHOULD listen!  They SHOULD act on their guidance.”

My opinion isn’t helpful to anyone.  I do the best I can to share the guidance over and over again in several ways and as often as not, the person will say “I don’t believe it” or “I don’t trust it” or “I’m too afraid to follow that” or “I don’t want to do that.”

Look into your heart and mind and see if you can discover the place where you have been hearing the message clearly, but you have been ignoring the guidance. You can cultivate the willingness to hear with new ears.

If you won’t take the steps that will lead to your happiness, no matter how many times you hear the message, then it’s best to STOP COMPLAINING that you’re not happy, because that only intensifies the suffering.   Accept that you’re not willing or ready, but that you will be and in the meantime avoid looking to blame others for your unhappiness.  This practice alone will noticeably increase your peace.

The amazing life of Love and Joy that is everyone’s destiny is only going to be experienced by those who are willing to listen and follow.  When we live in the muck and mire of our own opinions we’re eliminating our possibility for happiness.  There’s no other way to peace.  Peace is the way.

When feeling stuck, resistant, reluctant or upset, I learned to ask myself, “can you at least be more willing to be a little more willing?”  The answer was almost always, yes.  That little bit of willingness profoundly changed my life!  Are you willing to be a little bit more willing to recognize the loving choices and hear the voice for God?

Power of the Mind

Wednesday, September 16th, 2020

The mind never sleeps.

Whatever we hold in our mind we will experience in form of some kind.

This can be a wonderful thing or a tortuous thing and we are the ones who choose which it is.

Let us use the power of our mind for Peace.

The world will benefit greatly.

In A Course in Miracles, Jesus tells us that we’re here ONLY to be truly helpful. That’s our purpose. And by working at the level of the mind, we can be profoundly helpful to all of those around us. Each person’s mental and emotional state affects every other person’s mental and emotional state – and we even affect the weather with our thoughts and beliefs.

Native Americans and other indigenous people around the world have teachings about how wind increases when people’s anger increases. They teach that the water dries up when the women are not honored and treated poorly.

In the Fear and Conflict section of Chapter II in the ACIM Text, Jesus tells us:

“Few appreciate the real power of the mind, and no one remains fully aware of it all the time. However, if you hope to spare yourself from fear there are some things you must realize, and realize fully. The mind is very powerful, and never loses its creative force. It never sleeps. Every instant it is creating. It is hard to recognize that thought and belief combine into a power surge that can literally move mountains. It appears at first glance that to believe such power about yourself is arrogant, but that is not the real reason you do not believe it. You prefer to believe that your thoughts cannot exert real influence because you are actually afraid of them.”

The incredible power of the mind is one of the main reasons why we keep in place the blocks to Love – so that we are blocked from recognizing that we are the dreamer of the dream.

Right now, instead of energizing that the fires, hurricanes, and other things that we see on display in the world are “horrible” let’s hold in our mind that there is Peace IN the earth and ON the earth. Let us take deep long breaths and give thanks for the healing that’s happening now, for surely, the healing IS happening now!

STARTS FRIDAY:  I’m getting ready for my Stop Playing Small Online Retreat which starts on Friday.  If you’d really like to do this healing work of letting go of complaining and other mental patterns that stand in our way of happiness and Peace, consider joining me.  You can change your entire life, your relationships, your experience, your finances, your body, your happiness and peace of mind, one breakthrough at a time – that’s what we’re doing.

Remembering Our Christ Nature

Tuesday, September 15th, 2020

Sometimes we can feel broken and brought down.  Life can be SO intense, and it can be easy to give in and feel convinced that we’re worthless, or that we can’t recover, but it’s not true.  There’s a perfection within each one of us that is our holiness and it can never be damaged.  It’s always intact.

We do have to be willing to believe it to experience it.

One of the things I truly appreciate about A Course in Miracles is that it tells us that we’re already perfect.  I like to say, “we’re already as holy as holy can be.”  We need do nothing.  We can choose to do lots of things, but we NEED do nothing because we’re actually already eternal, unprecedented, and perfect.

ACIM tells us that Christ is the Son of God, and that’s what humanity is.

We’re all one in Christ and the only problem we have is that we are deluded into believing we’re fundamentally wrong and bad, and separate from our holiness and from each other.

Because of this false belief of being bad and separate from our perfection, we have a myriad of thoughts that are completely false and manifest as the illusion of problems in this world.

The return of Christ can only happen in our minds because we’ve never left our Christed nature except in our delusions.

The time for returning our awareness to an awakened state is here.  It’s unfolding now.

For years now, LIFE has been in our face.  Meaning, LIFE is pushing us to make higher and better choices.

Have you noticed that over the course of this year you’ve felt a strong urge to let go of playing small – for good?  I’m seeing that energetic of choosing wholeness break out all over!  For those who are willing this is an EXTRAORDINARY time of healing.

And, conversely, I’m noticing that those who are clinging to their old habits and old ways are having increasing suffering.  We’re just not designed to be happy and be stagnant.  We’re designed to be in the flow of Love and when we take ourselves out of it, it’s painful.

Fortunately, we can jump right back into the flow of Love no matter how long we’ve been out of it.  Love is always there for us.

Aversions

Monday, September 14th, 2020

I used to have an aversion to people who seemed weak, timid or afraid. It would bring up my own fear of being weak. I didn’t know that’s why I had the aversion, but that’s how this mirroring thing works.

What I also didn’t realize was that my many, MANY aversions were a huge distraction for me. Getting triggered, annoyed, upset, irritated and frustrated as well as taking offense on a daily basis ate up a lot of my time and energy. It also kept me swimming in a low vibrational pool of negativity of my own making.

I blamed everyone else, so I didn’t see a way out of it – until I was willing.

Do you have an aversion to people who act in a certain way?

I literally would feel this intense need to get away from people who were insecure. It was almost as if it were some kind of thing that I could catch – and that thought terrified me. Now, I’m aware that the reason it was so bothersome to me is that it was my own insecurities being reflected to me.

My insecurities were intolerable for me. I had so little self-compassion.

All of that began to change when I decided to focus on being compassionate for others.

As I was able to extend love to others, I could begin to have some love for myself. A little bit of love goes a long way.

This is why each act of loving kindness that we can extend to others opens our heart and helps us to be more available to the good in life. AND I learned that the way to heal an aversion is to have compassion. It works!

Life is SO much better without aversions.

Now, I use my time and energy for things that are enjoyable and productive. That makes my life worthwhile.

Now, I can see that my aversions kept me playing small, living in lack and limitation.

Next time your mind drifts to attacking someone, or even yourself, see if you can remember this and extend some compassion to welcome more good in your life. It’s a powerful spiritual practice that we can take with us every moment of every day!

Have you seen the direct results of having a practice of extending Love and compassion? Please tell us about it and share in the comments below! Thank you!

Not Stuck

Sunday, September 13th, 2020

For a very long time I felt stuck in my spiritual growth. I couldn’t seem to advance and I was repeating the same painful patterns EVEN THOUGH I knew better. UGH!!!

It was infuriating.
I knew I was in my own way.
I was in a quagmire of false beliefs that kept me cycling around in mental and emotional patterns that were very distracting, limiting and painful.

I SO wanted to break free.
I believed spiritual practice would help me.
Just couldn’t seem to find the right thing to unlock the mystery of WHY IS IT SO HARD?

Then, things got a whole lot MORE challenging. I didn’t know it at the time, but it was a gift.
That’s right, it was a gift to be so intensely challenged.

There came a point in my spiritual unfoldment where it seemed like I was being challenged to my core. The challenges were coming in all directions.

My mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

My spiritual community profoundly let me down.
My best friend cheated me.
My sweetheart … oh, don’t even get me started on that one.

Anyway, there was more, but that’s enough – it was a ego lollapalooza of betrayals, upsets and freak outs.
It felt like the challenges were on all levels and in all areas of my life – except that I had my health. Thank GOD for that!

I had the sense that I was being “tested.” I was being tested not in the way that an unkind teacher would prepare a grueling test in order to put you through the wringer, but rather I was being tested in the sense of being offered an opportunity to rise above all past precedent and break through to a new level of awareness, understanding, strength and willingness.

And that’s the kind of test we get from Spirit – the kind that forces us to choose which way we’ll go.

Will we let go of the beliefs that are torturing us, or will seek the answer in the world rather than within?
Will we relinquish the meaning we made of things, take responsibility and move on, or will we we blame the world?
That time of challenge was far from easy for me.

It did help that I could feel that it was a test of my mettle. It was the opportunity for me to focus on developing the clarity that I so deeply desired. It was the required course for me to purify my heart and relinquish the habits of playing small.

I was so tired of playing small, and yet I couldn’t seem to break the spell I was under.
That time of intense challenge on almost every front was both difficult and exhausting. It was also exactly what I needed to step more into my true identity as a spiritual being capable of great love and compassion. i reached a tipping point and I’ve noticed that I’ve not had any backsliding.

Instead, much to my surprise, my growth continues to unfold and expand, which is wonderful.

Honestly, I don’t see one spiritual student who truly wishes to awaken from the painful dream of separation who doesn’t go through some very intense time of healing. It’s when the storm is raging so furiously, and we’re really up against it, that we can break through the most intense attachments to the mental patterns of the past. It’s actually a tremendous gift from the Higher Self.

If we’re willing to receive it.

If we’re willing to give up the attachments to the past, we can have a whole new future.

We all know that willingness is the key to transformation.

Spiritual practice is EVERYTHING in our awakening.

Willingness to be loving and to choose that loving connection over everything else IS a spiritual practice.

We can leverage our willingness to choose love and cultivate an awareness that we CAN actually leave the past behind and release the future also. This gives us the experience of being present to the now which is the only place our transformation can happen.

The challenges become the motivation for real change.

If you feel you’re being tested, be grateful. The tipping point is at hand. Let’s go for it and let our reluctance and resistance be the reminder that we ARE doing it and we’re not stuck anymore.

The only way to change your ENTIRE LIFE is to make one choice at a time, and keep making another, and another. And we have that ability. There is profound support for us in the invisible – and we can tap into it. Life can be easier, relationships can heal, our minds can liberate.

And that’s what we’re able to share with all life.
We can share our healing and that is a gift that we give to all.
Our healing is our legacy – and it’s never too late – we’re never too far gone.

We are blessed, now and forever!

We Have What It Takes

Saturday, September 12th, 2020

Many have a tendency to second guest themselves and to doubt themselves.  When we doubt that we can succeed our trust and faith is not in Spirit, but in ourselves.

I used to doubt myself so much.  And now I know that self-doubt is insanity. It’s plain crazy!  Self-doubt is when the ego mind says:

“You don’t have what it takes”

Spirit ALWAYS has what it takes to do whatever it would like to do.

ALWAYS.

When we’re aligned with ego we’ll be filled with doubt, BECAUSE the ego can only accomplish that which is not worth accomplishing. THEREFORE it’s naturally filled with doubt.

What the ego can accomplish is only of this world, and has no lasting value.

What the ego can accomplish is only that which can lead to your suffering.

The value of suffering is that it PUSHES us to wake up and choose Spirit.

That’s about all the ego really has for us at this point. Motivation to stop suffering.

What does that motivation really come from? Increased suffering!

Is that any way to live?

Unfortunately, yes, it is, and I have lived that way and it absolutely got me to the point where I said

“I have had ENOUGH. I AM choosing LOVE!”

Phew!

Who knew that in this world one of the best things that could ever happen is that my suffering would become intolerable and I would totally give up and surrender my life to the Higher Holy Spirit Self and then be grateful for everything I’ve experienced?  What a wild ride!

I’m so glad to learn that Spirit never fails!

I’ve learned to count on Spirit and to place my trust and faith in Spirit, and that’s the challenge.  The challenge is learning to trust.  Trust is a result of willingness.

I learned to focus on cultivating a TRUE and honest willingness to be loving, kind, generous and patient – as well as a willingness to take responsibility for my own feelings.  In doing that, the doubt dissipated.

I’m getting ready for my Stop Playing Small Online Retreat on September 18.

Healing The Unconscious Guilt

Friday, September 11th, 2020

Lately, I’ve been noticing so many more places where the unconscious guilt that A Course in Miracles talks about is driving people’s choices and they have no idea of it. There are so many patterns of pain and negativity playing out throughout our days that we’re not even aware of.

Yesterday I wrote about feeling insecure.

Insecurity comes directly from the unconscious guilt patterns.

It takes up so much of our bandwidth and yet we don’t even realize that’s the real issue.

In our essence, we’re all perfect Spirit poured into different expressions of human experience.

Somewhere along the journey, we gave ourselves permission to judge, to sort, separate and label. The more we see each other as separate, different, wrong, bad, better or worse, the more our perspective is skewed and we cannot see correctly.

We’ve cultivated a distorted perspective of being better than, worse then and separate from, and because we’ve done it on purpose, intentionally cultivating this false view of ourselves and others, we feel badly. Deep down, every one of us feels guilty for giving ourselves permission to attack others, and ourselves, with thoughts of better and worse, when deep down, we do know that we’re one with each other and not separate.

It’s an ancient guilt that we’re in the process of healing.

This ancient guilt is why we all feel less than perfectly lovable and believe it’s true even though it’s not.

We’re one with each other.

Can I possibly believe that you are less than lovable and not believe it of myself?

If deep down, I know that you and I are one, how can I actually believe that it’s possible to paint you as bad and wrong and not paint myself that way too?

Well, here’s how – we made a divide in our mind. We made a split.
We can call it right mind and wrong mind.
Clear mind and distorted mind.

With the split in our mind, we can now see ourselves as separate from each other, but it has a HUGE cost to pay in order to make the illusion of the split possible. We had to also agree that we were separate from Spirit. It was the only way.

What we didn’t realize was that the split in our mind would also prevent us from feeling our God-nature. All of our gifts that are essential to our living a joyful life would be hidden from us on the other side of the split.

In our awareness of oneness and union in Spirit we’re able to access our true divine nature and experience the many gifts of God. These gifts are our natural state of being. They are sometimes seen as colored rays of light, like the aspects of light we see in a rainbow. They are the spiritual qualities of being that we truly are such as:

  • Love
  • Joy
  • Freedom
  • Wisdom
  • Clarity
  • Peace
  • Harmony
  • Beauty
  • Wholeness
  • Prosperity
  • Purity
  • Abundance
  • And more

When we seek the kingdom first, when we put Spirit first, then all of these spiritual qualities are now awake and available in our mind. This is our true Abundance, remembering our lineage, our ancestry, our inheritance!

Our way back to our true reality is being willing to recognize what is false and stop identifying with a smaller, weaker, selfish self. We are truly miraculous beings of Love and Light and our destiny is to remember the kingdom is within. Let’s look for our blessings where we can find them, already pre-installed, within.

Instead of looking for separation and differences, let’s look for similarities and unity.

Insecure

Thursday, September 10th, 2020

I used to be an insecure person.  I didn’t know it, and would never have believed it, but the cause of my insecurity was my constant judging.  My mind was rarely out of attack mode and that left me feeling vulnerable most of the time.

When I look back, it’s amazing how much energy I invested each day in defending myself and attacking others.  It’s a wonder I got anything accomplished at all!

I see many people who fritter their life and inner resources away keeping score in their relationships instead of being ALL IN for Love.  You know your affection is conditional when you have expectations and make demands.

Sometimes folks who feel insecure will poke and poke others to agitate and get others to reject them.  It’s classic.  People who have abandonment issues will push others away.  We do all these crazy things to prove that what we believe is true.

BUT it does NOT prove what we believe is true.

All it proves is that we believe it and so we’re experiencing it.

If you REALLY look at it, what IS proved is that we’re powerful manifesters!

It can be really exhausting and tiresome to have someone you love pushing you away.

However, once realize that it’s a cry for Love and they don’t really know what they’re doing we can drop our judgments and love them.

Some people have a difficult time letting you love them.

It’s like that old Woody Allen joke “I’d never join a club that would allow me to become a member.”

They don’t trust and it doesn’t feel safe.  They’re anticipating rejection and so they will do their dance until you agree they aren’t worth it.  They can be so insistent.

Life is filled with these experiences and as long as we don’t judge it, we’ll continue to have less and less of them.  We’re here to be truly helpful.  The most helpful thing we can be is both compassionate AND having healthy boundaries.

Some people will begin to relax when they see you really do love them.

And some people aren’t ready to accept it.  This is when we do our work in the invisible – our prayer practice and our forgiveness.  It’s powerful and life-changing.

Let’s not invest ourselves in these ego games anymore – we have more fulfilling ways to invest our time and energy!

Have you had the experience I’m talking about?  Please tell us about it and share in the comments below!  Let’s join together for our healing!  Thank you!

Major Decisions

Wednesday, September 9th, 2020

I’ve learned the power of decision and I’ve come to apply that learning to my daily life. (BTW, I’ve also done several episodes of my podcast on this very topic – https://www.livingacourseinmiracles.com/episodes/holy-spirits-rules-for-decision/ )

When I look back at the major decisions in my life, I can see my most life-changing decisions had nothing to do with the circumstances of my life. They had to do with the deep desires of my heart – my soul’s longings.

Around the age of twenty-six, I began to meditate. Even though I was getting up at 5:30am, and falling asleep during my meditation, my intention was carrying me to a higher place of awareness.

Intention, when we truly hold it and energize it, is SO POWERFUL.

I remember making the decision that I was going to work toward being an enlightened being.

When I made that decision, I felt at least a hundred lifetimes away from that possibility.

Now, decades later, I’m choosing to experience it in this lifetime. I’m going for it. Each day, I hold that it is happening for me now.

That’s a big change in not so many years.

Part of what made that big change possible is my decision to make becoming a compassionate person a top priority for me.

At the time I made that decision, I mostly felt angry.

Life was a series of disappointments to me.
I didn’t feel I could trust people.
I had a deep sense of self-hatred that I hadn’t even recognized yet.
I didn’t know it then, but the self-hatred came from always feeling that I was failing at what I should be accomplishing.

I use to feel that I should be able to be more successful in the world. Yet, no amount of success in the world appeased that hunger. I hated that I couldn’t get over the hump and feel worthy. I also hated that I was angry and hostile so much of the time. The only rest was to tune out and that didn’t feel restorative.

My decision to focus on becoming compassion was to alleviate feeling angry and hostile so much of the time. And you know what? It REALLY helped me. I began to vibrate at a higher level and things began to get easier. I began to experience a spiraling up in my vibration and my thoughts became less hostile. I began to experience some real relief.

The power of decision is one that I share about frequently because it has been so life-changing for me.

The helpless and hopeless person isn’t willing to stick to their decisions. Their intentions are meaningless and that’s where the hopelessness comes from.

I encourage you to make a decision today about how you’d like to BE and how you’d like to FEEL in your life, and then stick to it.

It takes courage.
It takes heart.
And it makes all the difference in the world to you

-and to everyone your life touches.
Be the Love of your life.
Be the change.
Be it.

You are the decider.

Mean Intent

Tuesday, September 8th, 2020

Bobbi, my brother’s new puppy dog, Bobbi – just about 8 months old – ate my slipper yesterday.  Sigh.  I really liked that slipper and they don’t make them anymore.  Isn’t that how it goes sometimes?

I have to say, it gave me a moment of feeling pissed.  All attachments cause suffering – that’s the teaching of Buddha.

Of course, I was annoyed with myself for having taken it off in a place where she could get it.  Life!!  I could have been upset the rest of the day – but what good would that do?

There are times when we say we’d like the Peace of God, but, sometimes, we really don’t. Have you ever had someone cut you off in traffic and you wished they get caught by the police?  Have you ever had someone disappoint you and you wished them some kind of difficulty?

Okay, this may sound crazy to you, but I’ve known many people, including myself, who have, at times of stress, wished for bad things to happen.

I’ve even known people who’ve wished for “bad” things to happen to themselves so they could feel even more like a victim and get sympathy from others.  It’s that old pattern of wanting negative attention if there’s no positive attention available.

Wishing for bad things to happen to someone else is more understandable for most people than wishing bad things to happen to themselves.

Wishing bad things on anyone is wishing for a punishment.

And that’s one of the key components of the ego thought system.

The ego thought system is one of sin and punishment.

When people don’t like what someone’s done, they jump on the punishment bandwagon.  People talk about punishment as a deterrent, but it really doesn’t work.

Punishment is for those who blame and shame.

You may not realize it, because we often don’t wish to see it, but many people punish themselves and punish others as a way of trying to handle how vulnerable and powerless they feel.  There are many subtle ways that people punish themselves and others.

Hoping something bad happens to themselves, people are often looking to get some kind of justification for feeling like a victim, or even to punish others.  When I was much younger, I definitely saw myself wishing for bad things to happen to me so that others would feel bad, that it was their fault.

Some people try to hurt their loved ones by hurting themselves.  It’s definitely insane.  And that’s what the ego is, pure insanity.

People feel unworthy of Love and sometimes they wish for something bad to happen to them so that people will have sympathy for them.  They feel it’s the only way they can get attention or kindness.  It never feels good, but, to some, it’s better than no attention all.

Wishing punishment on others only intensifies the guilt we feel, and then we feel we deserve to be punished.  It’s a destructive cycle we can break out of by being aware and practicing kindness.

His Holiness, the Dalai Lama has said that his religion is kindness.  That really resonates with me.  I aspire to be kind always and I am getting closer every day.  When we’re forgiving ourselves and others, we’re practicing the ultimate kindness.

Forgiveness leads to compassion, and that’s Love.  It’s liberating.

In our current political climate, I’ve heard people wishing for economic hard times because they believe then the current president wouldn’t be reelected.  I get that, but it’s not what I wish for.  I wish for Love and kindness to be valued.  I pray that truth is revealed and Love prevails.  I feel it happening and so I don’t even need to hope for good.  I know it is happening now.

Healing is happening now.

Truth is being revealed now.

Love will prevail.

Have you had a time when you wished for something bad to happen to someone or to yourself?  Have you forgiven yourself?  If not, there’s no time like the present!  Please share in the comments below!

Weathering Emotional Storms

Monday, September 7th, 2020

I used to get so upset. It now seems hard to believe how much of my time, energy and attention I gave to being upset. I used to put effort into being upset by ruminating on things over and over again. So much of my precious life has been invested in placing my attention on things that only made me feel worse about my life and myself. Ugh.

When I’ve felt blasted by the storms of emotions and the drama, whether it’s been of my own making or someone else’s, my spiritual practice of non-judgment and nonviolence is my rock. It’s a haven of infinite patience and Love inside my own mind.

I can come back to center by practicing nonviolence. So often I see folks do things that make no sense. We lose perspective and then we suffer and make crazy choices.

At times folks are deliberately unkind; they’re selfish and hurtful. People respond without thinking and are rude. I’ve done so much of that in my life.

Some people are discouraging when they could be encouraging. My practice of non-judgment forces me to look at my motivations and intentions and to consistently choose the most loving intention regardless of where my emotions are.

My spiritual practice of non-judgment is a practice infinite compassion.

It is the daily practice of walking in Spirit. Just as that farm girl from Kansas put on the ruby slippers and remembered her personal power that could take her back home, my personal practice of nonviolence takes me back home to the spiritual truth of all life: I am one with all that is.

If I hate the one who hates, I’ve lost my power, and I’m multiplying the hatred. If I am rude to the one who is rude, I am living someone else’s pain and magnifying it. If I have no compassion for the one who has no compassion, I am spending my precious energy magnifying someone else’s hurt. Every moment I choose whose shoes I’ll stand in. Every moment I can choose anew and change the course of my life.

When I make the highest choice I can reach for in the moment, I lift the world.

Mother Theresa taught us, “People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway … Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give the best you’ve got anyway.”

When I look at Mother Theresa’s life and the lives of Buddha, Jesus, St. Francis, Gandhi, King and Thich Nhat Hanh, I see the power in their moment to moment practice of choosing love in much more difficult circumstances than I’ve ever faced.

I choose to carry close to me this awareness of those who went before me. This is my ruby slipper practice.

In every moment I remember my intention to love and I am that. How grateful I am that no matter where I am, no matter what is happening in and around me, I can have a ruby slipper moment and come home to my heart.

No More Humiliation!

Sunday, September 6th, 2020

One of my favorite quotes from any spiritual teacher came from Ernest Holmes, author of The Science of Mind. Holmes said, “Healing does not take time. The only time that it takes to have healed is the time that it takes to have a realization.”

Having a realization is different than an aha, but it’s similar.
A realization is life-changing.
When I was in the prayer practitioner training at Agape back in the 90’s I had a realization that truly changed how I lived every single day of my life. No kidding. It was that powerful.

Catch this: I realized that if I didn’t judge myself for my errors, but instead, could have loving compassion for myself, then there’d be more love expressed in the world BECAUSE I made an error – and that was good and beneficial for ALL beings!

Choosing to have compassion for myself, meant that I wasn’t judging myself. There’s no way to be in judgment of myself AND also hold myself in Love simultaneously. By choosing to stop judging myself, and instead to extend loving understanding to myself, I was learning how to live without taking offense and then no forgiveness was necessary.

This is Freedom. TRUE Freedom.

And this was how I began to practice forgiveness AS non-judgment. When there’s no judgment, no forgiveness is necessary and life is MUCH easier. This way we can stay in our loving hearts and there’s no back tracking to clean up a mess. I really like that.

Plus, it’s much more peaceful. Easier on the nerves. More productive.

It was around this same time that people began to say things to me like “you’re so full of light.” I would look around to see who they were talking to, because I knew it couldn’t possibly be me.

Full of Light? Me? Nah.

I remember saying to my BFF, “can you believe people are saying I’m a real light in the world? That’s so crazy.”

And she said to me, “Yeah, Jennifer, you ARE a light in this world.”

Who? Me? What?

More and more people began to comment on how light-filled I was. I knew then as I know now, that it was because of this practice of non-judgment. It was because every day I had the opportunity to turn my seeming errors into successes.

And every day, more Love was being expressed in the world because I made the error.

For instance, let’s say I’m going somewhere and all of a sudden it starts to pour rain and I don’t have an umbrella and now I’m running into all kinds of issues and I’m going to be late and show up all soaking wet too. I didn’t check the weather, didn’t plan ahead and now I’m in the soup. I call this a “tactical error.”

When there’s a tactical error I say to myself, “well, here’s a good learning for me. I’m a life-long learner, so this is helpful to me. Next time, I’ll do know to do it differently and have a more desirable result. This is a good thing. I’ve learned something.”

No judgment.
No attack.
No complaint.
No problem – only learning, compassion and understanding.

I realize now that this was the beginning of my becoming a teacher. I was embodying my Higher Holy Spirit Self – the knower who knows – my inner teacher and guide.

I found that I was SO VERY grateful that I could choose to be loving with myself instead of tearing myself down. I began to look for more and more opportunities to be kind to myself and others.

This was a big change for me because I had been a dedicated grievance and grudge holder. I literally thought it was my moral responsibility to never forget the insults and injuries and to wear them in my energetic field like a warrior who has scars on their body and chinks in their armor.

I’d been living as a grudge holder for so long that I had completely lost track of how much energy it took. What changed things for me was I began to realize that just as I had learned to not attack myself for my tactical errors, when others made errors such as being rude, unkind or thoughtless, I could go first with kindness and compassion and help them come back to their right mind by not judging them, and by not taking offense. I liked that so much more than tearing them down and attacking them.

In this practice with others, just as with myself, I learned that it’s so much easier and faster to heal when I take full responsibility for my choices and for everything around me. Then I can extend compassion to all and harvest the learning from everything.

What naturally began to occur is that the sense I’d had for so long of feeling like a fake began to disappear and then it went, never to return. WOW!

I’ve learned so much that has empowered me to share with others, to offer classes, workshops and retreats, to be a spiritual counselor to others and to write this daily inspiration.

I used to wonder how the heck would I be able to really follow my calling. It felt so completely daunting because I was caught up in the thought, “how would it unfold in the world of form.” I didn’t believe I had the resources.

It’s because I was focused on my resources being in the world, instead of in my mind.

At the time, I had a lot of debt. I wasn’t good at earning money. I was still self-medicating intensely.

I prayed and prayed and prayed that the way be shown to me.
My prayer was answered by my reading something Jesus said when he walked the earth, recorded in the gospels. He said:

If I be lifted up, I draw all unto me.

Suddenly, I heard what he meant. I realized that this was the answer to my prayers!

Instead of focusing on HOW to make this ministry happen in the world, I turned my attention to the inner lifting up.

I put my focus on taking out the trash in my belief system – that old B.S. – and practicing forgiveness and compassion, kindness and generosity, patience and Peace.

I began to feel the lifting up happening, the old patterns fell away, the way began to clear and things were brought to me and offered to me.

I began to see opportunities that I wasn’t available to before because I wasn’t a vibrational match. Instead of criticizing others, I began to extend my heart to them and offer them a blessing – and the whole universe began to do the same with me. it was a true turning and transformation.

I no longer felt like a fake anymore, because I wasn’t faking. I was being more loving and compassionate with each day – even when I fell down and forgot, I could pick myself up with Love and compassion and immediately be back on track.

I developed humility.

It was the end of humiliation – if only someone could have told me before!

AND I learned that humility is the key that opens the door to awakening.

No kidding.

Without humility, the doors to spiritual expansion remain closed. Tightly. The door of spiritual awakening is not visible to those who lack humility.

AND humiliation will still be a concern.

I’m forever grateful for this realization. I did need to acquire humility. I had been humiliated many times, but I didn’t have to be. There are other options.

Humility makes life so much sweeter and easier.

As with any spiritual growth – we can go of our own willingness and be pulled by the vision, or we can be in resistance and reluctance and wait for the pain to push us. We get to choose the way we travel.

Would you like to move forward inspired by the vision of what your life can be or motivated by pain and fear of what might be?

In order to be willing to acquire humility we absolutely must be willing to give up the need to be right. We really truly do have to give up valuing our opinions and be willing to forgive.

With humility, a whole new world of spiritual awakening opens up for us.

Are you wishing to share your gifts and talents, but feel like you’ve been playing small?
Do you have self-doubt you’d like to transform so that you can share from Spirit and inspire others?

We can change so much of our life experience, using our mind. If we’re willing to take responsibility and act in league with the infinite, with the Higher Holy Spirit Self, knowing that ALL of life is supporting us, that EVERYTHING is for us and NOTHING is against us, we can live an entirely different life.

Anger, Peace & Miracles

Saturday, September 5th, 2020

Today, the beautiful and brilliant kironJ Gardner is offering an extended workshop on Anger, Peace & Miracles. These are some things I know a LOT about. I sure wish I could have taken a workshop like this when I needed it so much.

For the first few decades of my life, I had some real anger issues that ruled my life and wreaked havoc in my relationships and my sense of self. Now, I can see that the anger I felt propelled me to find a spiritual solution and that’s led to the best part of my life.

From about 1997 to 2006, I studied the teachings of Ernest Holmes in my training to become a Science of Mind Practitioner and Minister. One of the helpful things I took from Holmes’ teachings is the difference between feelings and emotions. It’s valuable for us to understand the difference between when we’re having an emotional response or reaction and when we’re experiencing a feeling.

I’ve had so much experience being an emotional drama queen – mostly being angry and argumentative. It was such a miserable way to live. I was the cause of my own unhappiness being critical and complaining constantly. It was as though I felt God had died and left me in charge of judging everything!

I became afraid of my emotions and anger was the only one that felt safe to me.

Anger is actually an emotional protective device.

When I realized that I could learn to have trust and place my faith in Spirit, when I began to really practice BEING loving, that’s when my emotional life changed profoundly. I stopped having to stuff my emotional baggage and hide it.

I learned the power of feeling my emotions without stoking those fires, but simply learning to observe them without giving into them.

I’ve had so much healing through allowing myself to experience my emotions and letting them be expressed rather than holding them in to fester and ferment. Now, it feels safer and safer for me to have my emotions and allow them to go through me. I can now easily realize that they’re not who I am.

I used to feel so intensely upset by things. Now, that kind of intensity is rare for me. It’s all because of my spiritual practice of non-judgment and forgiveness. Nowadays I am MUCH more aware of feelings. I feel peaceful, harmonious, free, joyous. I experience much of my intuition as feelings, which are quite different from emotions.

For me, often the still small voice is a still small feeling. Feelings are often delicate where emotions can be clunky and dramatic.

It’s been deeply healing for me to cultivate the feelings that I’d like to experience. We can cultivate Peace, Harmony, Joy, and Freedom. We can cultivate the feeling of Abundance and Wholeness. These spiritual qualities have vibrational matches that we can feel and we can cultivate them and attune to them. It just takes practice and willingness.

When you’re vibrating with the “frequency” of Love or Abundance, because like attracts like, you’ll be attracting more experiences of Love and Abundance into your life. It’s really not rocket science.

If you’re willing, Spirit will lead you and guide you. It’s your birthright. Go for it!

I’m getting ready for my Stop Playing Small Online Retreat in just 2 weeks. If you’d really like to do this healing work of letting go of complaints and the other things that stand in our way of happiness and Peace, consider joining us. Aversion to Fear

Friday, September 4th, 2020

I used to have an aversion to people who were anxious and nervous and worried. I felt as though they could possibly transmit their fear to me and that I’d catch it – and I didn’t want it. I would have a strong visceral reaction when people were nervous and scared around me. I really couldn’t stand it.

It had nothing to do with them, and everything to do with me.

I had no compassion, wisdom or understanding for my own fears.

It was my own fears that scared me – and I was triggered by the very slightest hint of another’s fears.

Of course, anyone who’s paying attention can tell who is afraid and who isn’t. The bully seems tough, but deep down, they are FAR more terrified than the person who appears nervous. The person who seems angry and pushy is acting from deep seated fear.

Now, I can see that the feeling of aversion to other people’s worry and fear was that I already had plenty of my own and I didn’t want to take on anymore. To me, feeling afraid was a failure. Back then, I’d rather have experienced many difficulties than let anyone know I felt fear.

Now, I can feel the fear, and hand it over to the Higher Holy Spirit Self and move on.

I’m not afraid of fear anymore.

I feel so grateful that I can ever be of assistance to someone who is feeling afraid or worried. If you meet someone who is anxious, I encourage you to do what you can to support them. Sometimes it’s best to simply pray silently and send a smile.

I remember a decade ago when I was on a silent Vipassana retreat for 10 days, and one of the women in my bunk house (there were 11 of us) was in her late 20’s. We weren’t supposed to look at other people. We were to keep our gaze inward and focused on our own awareness, but it was difficult not to notice this young woman was crying a lot. She was really processing a lot of guilt and shame, or so it seemed to me.

At one point, I looked at her when she was crying, and seeming to be quite miserable with herself, and I simply winked. I winked to let her know, “this too shall pass.” It was a small gesture, but I meant it with a great deal of Love and support. At the end of the ten days of silent meditation, she told me that it had meant a lot to her.

Spirit guides us.
All the time.

We get nudges to say or do something and sometimes it seems out of character or out of step, but I’ve learned to do it anyway.

I’d rather listen to Spirit and be in tune with that voice than listen to the ego and be in lockstep with its endless demands.

What is the intuitive nudge that you’ve been getting that you’re not listening to? Will you be willing to follow your intuition today?

I’m getting ready for my Stop Playing Small Online Retreat in just 2 weeks. If you’d really like to do this healing work of letting go of complaints and the other things that stand in our way of happiness and Peace, consider joining us. You can change your entire life, your relationships, your experience, your finances, your body, your happiness and peace of mind. Consider this:

You will never regret your choice, and you’ll only be so glad you did – at least that’s what I hear from the people who have done it.

Get going. Take action. Be aggressive about working with your mind. DO NOT DELAY. If you’re waiting, if you’re not getting the results you’d like, what are you waiting for?

Don’t take my word for it, read the testimonials from those who have done this work with me. They believed that nothing would work for them, and they were willing to do something different anyway. Spiritual Victory!

Thursday, September 3rd, 2020

This year has been a focused year of spiritual growth and development for me.  I’ve been offering a lot of extra classes plus the Sunday’s with Spirit.  The more I serve, the happier and more fulfilled I feel.

Happiness is conditional.  And nothing is more happy making than being of service to the light.  It’s a deep kind of happiness that really is more like Joy, which is unconditional.

Joy comes from being in alignment with our own Higher Holy Spirit Self.

Can I tell you how glad and grateful I am that I’m even better at getting out of my own way?  I am beyond grateful any time I can choose Peace instead of needing to be right, more and more and MORE!  I’m not 100% at choosing Peace yet, but I’m getting closer, I can feel it, and I’m so grateful for that!

I feel victorious ANY time that I can choose to be compassionate instead of needing to be right, and work my will!  I celebrate my win!

For me, it’s all about deciding that Peace is more important.

We learn there’s no value to being right all the time.  NO VALUE at all.  There’s extraordinary value in being compassionate.

The more that I love myself, and nurture myself, the more I am inclined to choose Peace instead of conflict.

All conflict in the world comes from thinking we’d like Peace, but then not choosing it.

We say we love our loved ones, but then we’re mean, manipulative, uncaring, or disrespectful.  Then, we feel guilty.  Then we feel bad.  Then we feel angry about feeling bad and guilty because we know we did it to ourselves.  And then we punish them for making us feel this way, which just triggers more guilt, because it’s not about them.  We did it to ourselves.

It’s a cycle of punishment and acting out, and feeling guilty, bad, ashamed, resentful, regretful and on and on.

We interrupt the pattern by choosing Peace.  Peace is our natural state, and we can remember it.  Life is loving us by triggering us so that we’ll get into the habit of choosing Peace and heal all the triggers.

Every trigger is a golden opportunity to choose again and choose Peace.

We can learn to be grateful for the opportunity and in that choice is our healing and the world’s.  BONUS!

Can you share an example of choosing Peace that inspires you in the comments?

I’m getting ready for my Stop Playing Small Online Retreat in just 2 weeks.  If you’d really like to do this healing work of letting go of complaints and the other things that stand in our way of happiness and Peace, consider joining us.  You can change your entire life, your relationships, your experience, your finances, your body, your happiness and peace of mind.   Consider this:

Limitations

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020

In our spiritual waking up journey there are times when it feels like we’re stuck in a quagmire. It can feel like a whirlpool that keeps us in the spin cycle. I’m very familiar with it. This pattern of recycling through the same patterns again and again is familiar to everyone.

What is SO HELPFUL to remember is that we don’t have to figure out how to get out of it in order to break free of it. We just have to be WILLING to get out of it in order to find the way out.

I’m talking about real, demonstrative willingness
-this is more than words.
This is an action and openness of the heart.
There’s quite a difference between a willingness that’s in words only,
and one that comes from our heart.

It’s as if there is a doorway, or a gateway, that’s ALWAYS available to us, but we can’t see it until we’re genuinely willing to surrender the attachment to playing small and living in lack and limitation.

It’s crazy – but I see so many people who don’t have a CLUE that they’re very intentional and deliberate about playing small and letting resistance and reluctance rule their choices.

I used to have this very same issue!

How do we unhook the attachment to playing small and living in lack and limitation? We unhook the cause of it.

That’s right. We unhook the root cause of the mental pattern that keeps you stuck in the spin cycle, in the whirlpool, in the quagmire.

What IS the root cause?

It’s simply these beliefs:

Someone is better than or less than we are.

If you’re a dedicated spiritual student then by now you know, at least on an intellectual level, that there is a unity of all life. If all is one, is it even possible for anyone to be better than or less than you? No. Of course not. That’s a fantasy. We’re one. We’re united.

Does it seem impossible to give up a belief in better than and less than?

If you believe it, then it will appear to be true for you and it will be the cause of your suffering, your sense of lack and limitation.

It’s just a belief and no matter how much you invest in it, it will never be true. No matter how little you invest in it, it will always cause suffering.

Call upon the angelic realm, the ascended masters, the ancestors, call upon the Company of Heaven that are always there to support you if you will allow yourself to be supported. Don’t ask for stuff in the material world. Ask for willingness, ask for the strength to see clearly, to choose Love.

The key is to surrender and be truly willing.

Surrender the heavy lifting of HOW to figure it out to the Higher Holy Spirit Self. Let’s ALLOW our healing. Let’s make ourselves a welcome, ready and receptive place for it.

If we start to wonder how it’s going to happen, we can say to ourselves “How is not my problem. I choose to allow my healing. I don’t have to wonder how, I allow! I choose Love now.

As soon as we are truly, genuinely willing to give up the right to our attack thoughts, the light has come and we’ll begin to see the gateway, the way out of stuckness. It’s there, it’s always there. When we choose to block the light of Love in our awareness by cherishing our thoughts of lack and attack then we cannot see clearly.

Our WILLINGNESS to depend on a higher intelligence than the one that made us miserable, is ALL that is required.

We depend on our spirit, the great I AM. We’re listening and following. We’re obedient to Love’s impulse in our own heart. Love doesn’t need anything. Love is never manipulative or self-serving, ever. Love IS everything. Love doesn’t know lack and neither do we, not really.

The end of lack is when we’re fully willing to stop attacking and simply BE Love. THEN, the power of Love will operate in us and we’ll be able to clearly perceive the way out of the quagmire, we’ll see the gateway through to the other side and have the strength to choose it, and it won’t take much.

Attack thoughts weaken us in ALL ways.
Love strengthens us ALWAYS.

Love yourself first. You can do this:
Make a list of 100 ways to be kind and loving to yourself.
Make a list of 100 ways that you are unkind and unloving to yourself.
Replace the unkind with the kind in your daily choices. Choose Love.
Love strengthens you always.

You don’t have to make yourself stop doing the negative habits – that can be really hard. Instead, replace the unloving with loving and then you’re moving at the speed of light before you know it! Try it! It works!

Light workers around the world are being called to step up and do what they’re designed to do – share the light! Let’s do it together!

Peace No Matter What

Tuesday, September 1st, 2020

Many, MANY times I’ve had counseling clients or folks in my classes tell me that someone in their life has really difficult energy to be around and it brings them down to be with them.  I used to feel the same way about some of the people in my life.

What I’ve learned over the years is that it was never those people’s energy that was my challenge.  The real challenge was my thoughts about those people.

It turns out that my judgments about the people were what brought my energy down.

Now, while I do occasionally experience some people as challenging, or less enjoyable to be around – they don’t bring my energy down because I can hold them in the light no matter how they behave.

This is the gift of Peace that I’ve given myself and can share with others.

Consider someone that seems to bother you.  Now, consider this a challenge from me to you – next time you’re with them, be super mindful of holding them in the Light of Love rather than judging them and see if they still bring you down.

This is something that you can practice and rehearse.

In your mind’s eye, imagine being able to hold the peaceful mind no matter what.

Be determined.

This is a mind training.

This is how you get your mind in shape.

Folks who seem to challenge us are actually helping us to be more loving.

Let’s take the challenge and hold it with ease and grace.

Let’s be peacekeepers!

Are you willing?

I’m getting ready for my Stop Playing Small Online Retreat in just 2 weeks.  If you’d really like to do this healing work of letting go of complaints and the other things that stand in our way of happiness and Peace, consider joining us.  You can change your entire life, your relationships, your experience, your finances, your body, your happiness and peace of mind.   Consider this:

Human Tapestry

Monday, August 31st, 2020

Life is rich and beautiful when we’re willing to see it from the long view.

One way to view it is to see that we’re all working on a single tapestry.

It’s a tapestry of human life. Some of us are focused on weaving something exquisitely beautiful and it may look like the life of someone heroic like Harriet Tubman who risked her life and lived her life in service to others.

Another person may be someone who is dedicated only to their own pleasure, needs and wants. It takes all kinds to make this tapestry.

Some people, like many friends of mine, live their life dedicated to undoing the knots woven into the tapestry by their ancestors. It may look as though those knots came from their family and the way they were treated by their relatives. Maybe.

It could be that they were their ancestors in previous generations, reincarnated now, to undo the very nots they tied generations ago. It seems quite likely to me.

I’ve learned for myself, with help from A Course in Miracles, and my own willingness to value the truth. I’ve brought the patterns in with me and those who seem to have contributed to them, have only helped me to bring my attention so that I will get on with the work of untying the knots.

I don’t wish to waste another minute complaining about how things are. It doesn’t help, and in fact it becomes a magnetic attractor for more of the same.

There are no victims, even when it looks like there are victims.

We don’t know what’s really going on.

I’m absolutely certain that some souls volunteer to live a life in service being the challenging child of a person who wishes to learn compassion. This is the way of the Bodhisattva. The Bodhisattva is the awakened being who chooses to continue the cycle of reincarnation in service until all are awakened.

I imagine that from the Bodhisattva’s perspective the entire tapestry is beautiful. Maybe it’s a mandala.

I wish to see the tapestry of life from that Bodhisattva perspective and see only the beauty.

When I see something I don’t like, let me not complain and lend it energy. Let me not invest one more drop of my precious life-energy into that which is not untying the knots or refining the beauty.

As the inspired Christian mystic, Howard Thurman, would say, let me “keep fresh before me the moments of my high resolve” so that there is nothing more appealing or attractive to energize in this moment or any other.

The way for me to achieve my goal of being able to see from a clear view is to quit complaining.

Complaining has been such a strong habit for me.

There were times when I thought, and I do really mean this, that it was the purpose of my life.

Now, I can feel clearly that the purpose was to untie the knot of complaining as a habit.

Today, let me untie the knots and bring more beauty with each choice I make.

How do you choose to see the tapestry of life today?

Can you see the knots that it is your life purpose to untie?
If you wish, please share in the comments and I will hold it with you in prayer.

Together we will surely succeed!
Spirit will carry us there since we are so willing!

Finger

Sunday, August 30th, 2020

I had a bizarre experience the other day. Friday I left for my vacation. I left Vermont and was driving to Lisa Natoli and Bill Free’s house in Maine, and that’s where I am now. We love to get together and enjoy each other’s company while having coffee and an assortment of delicious foods. We delight ourselves with hours and hours and HOURS of talking, eating, cooking and basking in the glow of Love.

I had a 3.5 hour drive to Bill and Lisa’s house and on the way I realized I really had a hankering for a cup of coffee and I didn’t want to wait. About an hour from their home I pulled over to a Dunkin’ Donuts drive thru for my coffee. While waiting at the window I got out of the car to go to the backseat where I had a cooler that had in it a container of almond coconut creamer that I wished to use in my coffee.

I got the creamer, and when I shut the car door to get back in the front seat, I shut the door on my hand. Specifically, I shut the door on my index finger. I looked at my finger, trapped in the door, up to the second knuckle! I was aghast! The door was completely closed on my finger. How did that happen? I felt like I was in a twilight zone! Wait, what’s happening now?

I couldn’t believe I had done it. What the heck, man!

Then, I had the thought, because the door was completely closed on my finger, “I hope the door isn’t locked now.” I guess my mind was preparing for worst case scenario and visualizing. I held the thought, “it’s open, and will open easily, all is well” the door opened easily. I was relieved.

When I saw my finger, I saw that there was a cut, or a tear in the skin, just below the second knuckle, but it wasn’t smashed or horrible, I was much relieved.

Yes, it hurt. It definitely hurt. A lot.

But I was beginning to be surprised that it didn’t hurt more.

As soon as I took my finger out of the door frame it began to bleed and a drop of blood ran quickly around the side of my finger. I shut the door, got into the front seat, looking for a tissue in my purse to stop the blood.

I bent my finger and tested it out. Not broken. Phew!

It hurt. A lot. But it didn’t hurt as much as I thought it “should.”

I got my coffee, I pulled my car out of the line to the side and I had the thought, “this could be very difficult to drive like this.”

I also had the thought, since it was my right hand, “it could be hard to drink the coffee and drive.” Perish THAT thought!!
I added the creamer, spilled a little hot coffee in the car – it was VERY hot. Yikes!

Now, throughout this experience, I was also thinking “all is well.”

That’s my go to thought when there’s a concern.
“All is well. All is well. All is well.”
I usually say it at least three times.

I realized later that through this sequence of events, as a “negative scenario” thought would arise in my awareness, I’d banish it and think of what I’d like to have happen, visualize that and lock it in. That’s how I work with my mind.

It’s not that negative thoughts and possibilities don’t arise in my mind, I don’t wish to EXPERIENCE them, so I don’t entertain them. I go the other way. AND I got the extra mile of visualizing what I’d like.

I call it CATCH, RELEASE, REPLACE.

Catch the thought of what I don’t want.

Release it to the Higher Holy Spirit Self for healing.

Replace it with the thought and visualization of what I’d like to experience.

I have the power of choice.
I have the power of decision.
I focus on what I’d like and banish the thought of what I wouldn’t like to have happen.

I AM NOT A VICTIM OF THE WORLD I SEE.

As I was pulled over, there in the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot, I said. “this hurts a lot.” I was just acknowledging what was. Still it didn’t hurt as much as It thought it could given what happened. I definitely felt I was experiencing a miracle.

I knew it would be healing just fine and there was nothing to worry about.

I knew it could be difficult to drive with the bleeding, the pain and protecting the finger from doing much – and I still had a desire to drink that coffee which needed to cool off!

I held in my mind, “the pain is leaving. This will not be a problem. It is healing quickly. The coffee is cooling and I’ll be able to drink it soon.

Focused on the results I was interested in – without attachment. No fear, no worry, no doubt.

I got back on the road to Lisa and Bill’s house. I drank my coffee as I drove. Checking my bloody finger, feeling the pain disappear. Miracles were happening in my mind and demonstrating in form.

I had to keep the tissue on my finger the whole way, but there wasn’t that much blood.

The pain really did dramatically diminish. I arrived at my destination in perfect timing.

That night, in bed, I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I had a bandaid on it to keep it from opening up and getting blood on the bed. I noticed that it hurt quite a bit. I had the thought “this could keep me from going right back to sleep.”

Well, that wasn’t the result that I was interested in.

I wished to immediately return to deep sleep like I normally do if I use the restroom in the middle of the night.

I said to the pain, “I’m not having it.”

I felt it immediately diminish and fade into the background as I drifted back to a deep sleep.

I have wondered, “what’s this for?”

I know that A Course in Miracles tells me:

“What could you not accept, if you but knew that everything that happens, all events, past, present and to come, are gently planned by One Whose only purpose is your good? Perhaps you have misunderstood His plan, for He would never offer pain to you.”

I can see now, in my experience, it was clearly demonstrated to me that pain was my choice.
I can see now, that I had an expectation of pain and injury and I cleared that from my mind to the best of my ability that day.

In my history, in my past, I have had many thousands of experiences where I saw the possibility that it would be painful and that is what I chose.

I wanted those experiences to be painful, but they didn’t have to be.
I chose the pain. And I got what I wanted.
I wanted to be a victim.
I did that for DECADES.
Now, I’m having a new and different experience because of my WILLINGNESS.

A Course in Miracles also tells us in the text, section on Responsibility for Sight:
“I am responsible for what I see. I choose the feelings I experience, and I decide upon the goal I would achieve. And everything that seems to happen to me I ask for, and receive as I have asked. Deceive yourself no longer that you are helpless in the face of what is done to you. Acknowledge but that you have been mistaken, and all effects of your mistakes will disappear.” T-21.II.2.

I choose the feelings that I am interested in experiencing, that will give me the results that I would like. Here, with my finger, is a living example of that for me, and for me to share.

I knew, when I looked at my finger caught in that door, that something very weird was happening. Very weird in deed.

I have greater clarity now about how I live my life this way.
Pausing, almost imperceptibly at times, to choose what I would lIke.
Eliminating what I wouldn’t like.

And, of course, I can also see where I can step up my game and be even more proactive about my thoughts.

I’m having a healing as I write this.

If you listen to my ACIM podcast then you know that I recently had made a huge life change, renting a house for a year. The house was sold two weeks after I moved in, forcing me to move 2 weeks ago. I wished for the house to sell because it belonged to my friends and they’d been trying to sell it for more than 5 years.

I intended to be helpful to my friends, knowing that their good and my good are inextricably linked. What is the highest good for one is the highest good for all because we’re one with each other and it cannot be another way. This I absolutely know and I rely upon it every day. This IS the truth that sets me free from a huge planet-full of separation thoughts.

I was within 2 weeks of moving out of the house I was in, with no idea of where I would move to, but I knew that Spirit knew and that I’d be fine. I’ve been through things like this many times before. I wasn’t worried or concerned. I was looking forward to what unfolded and the discovery of it – as well as to the delight of it, because I anticipate that Spirit will delight me.

I haven’t had any difficulty typing this message. The cut is healing, and there’s a bit of swelling around the knuckle, but my mobility is great and there’s very little discomfort. I feel grateful!

Life is weird and strange – with bizarre and intense things happening!
ALL of it works together for our good.
I know it, and I depend upon it.

As I write this, Lisa Natoli just realized we could have the leftover blueberry crumble she made for dessert last night for our breakfast! How good is that? Yum!

Look, let me just say this – we can change so much of our life experience, using our mind, if we’re willing to take responsibility and act in league with the infinite, with the Higher Holy Spirit Self, knowing that ALL of life is supporting us, that EVERYTHING is for us and NOTHING is against us, we can live an entirely different life.

And that is the point of my Stop Playing Small Online Retreat next month. If you’d really like to do this work, and change your entire life, your relationships, your experience, your finances, your body, your happiness and peace of mind, then consider this:

You will never regret your choice, and you’ll only be so glad you did – at least that’s what I hear from the people who have done it.

Get going. Take action. Be aggressive about working with your mind. DO NOT DELAY. If you’re waiting, if you’re not getting the results you’d like, what are you waiting for?

Don’t take my word for it, read the testimonials from those who have done this work with me. They believed that nothing would work for them, and they were willing to do something different anyway. Now, they’re not playing small anymore. They’re not letting fear dictate their life. They have a real and powerful connection with Spirit.

Transcending Despair and Dread

Saturday, August 29th, 2020

It’s very common for people to go through a period of despair on the way to rising up out of the ego’s quagmire.  I certainly did. Despair is a systemic hopelessness.

And some people get caught in despair and dread.  It’s not a failure, but it can feel like that.  There’s the opportunity to shed the beliefs, and heal the root causes.

We don’t have to settle with dread and despair.

We don’t have to manage it or cope with it.

We can have a healing.

When we believe many of the ego thoughts and move into a place of feeling that there’s no hope for us then despair is quick to follow.

It feels natural, in a way.

If we believe the insanity of the ego we’ll feel trapped.

If we feel trapped without a way out, then we’re going to feel despair.

We can actually choose not just to be hopeful, but to be visionary.  We can hold a vision of Love for our lives.  Being willing to hold a vision can feel impossible when we’re hopeless.  I get that.

We don’t have to have a vision of total transformation, but we can.  We can just have a vision for small things that we enjoy to keep encouraging us.

Having a vision of even a small bit of happiness can make a huge difference in our life.

Spirit is such a powerful thing – and we can let it teach us how to heal the despair by giving it to Spirit for healing.

A willingness to be hopeful even about something small – like being hopeful about having your favorite ice cream or watching your favorite tv show can be transformative.

Energetically, being hopeful about ANYTHING can be life sustaining.  I find it’s very helpful to ask for a sign that we’re on the right path.

We don’t have to live in despair, that part is a choice.

Settling is a choice.

Deciding to live with it is a choice.

We may not know how to find the choice, but Spirit does.  Let’s give Spirit the heavy lifting of removing our despair and pointing the way.  Let’s ask for a sign today!

Would you like to catapult yourself forward on this healing journey?

This September, something amazing is going to happen and it’s called my Stop Playing Small Retreat – let’s get some real results and unblock the flow of Love in our lives. There’s a whole lot of healing going to happen!

I Love the Truth!

Friday, August 28th, 2020

I can handle the truth. I find it incredibly valuable.

I LOVE the Truth. I pray for the truth to be revealed every day in every way. The truth is healing and it’s liberating.

To value the truth is to value the very nature of our Creator’s constant and eternal Love which is the ultimate truth of our existence.

In truth all animosity dissolves.

I’m very blessed to be able to have a spiritual teacher who is truthful. Her name is Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo and she is a Cherokee Chief and a Buddhist. Her mind is very vast – meaning she sees way beyond time and space and helps me to see it too. I’m Cherokee by heritage and so I am grateful to connect to that stream of wisdom and learn my ancestor’s ways of spiritual expansion and awakening.

When I first started to spend 1 on 1 time with her it was in service. I would pick her up and drive her to places, sometimes spending many hours in the car with her. As a good and respectful student, I didn’t bend her ear with my questions, and I didn’t make the time together a counseling session. We got to know each other and share about life.

One of the first times that we were going somewhere in the car just the two of us, I told her this:

Please always tell me the truth. If you ever see that I’m not thinking clear or not seeing clearly, feel free to point it out. I consider that the greatest act of Love and kindness. When people see I’m headed in a wrong direction and don’t say anything to me, I realize they are not the best of friends to me.

You cannot hurt my feelings except by withholding your feedback. As a spiritual leader, I depend upon everyone around me to help me be the very most aware, and loving being I can be. I fall down and make errors every day, that’s my learning, I don’t mind that. It’s when people could help me, but they don’t, that I learn not to trust them.

You cannot offend me. Be as direct as you can that will feel like the greatest blessing and the most loving expression you can offer me. Your feedback is always welcome!

I wished to have an honest, transparent and easy relationship with her. I intended to let her know that she could be “real” with me.

After all these years, what I notice is that Venerable is always, ALWAYS teaching me by her example of what she says, and what she DOES NOT say to me and others. That’s why she’s such a good teacher to me.

There are many times I will notice that I share things with people in a subtle way, but they aren’t picking it up. That’s okay. They aren’t open to it yet. No problem. There’s no rush to transform our consciousness.

Being a devotee of truth, I’m interested in honesty and transparency, but still, people don’t have to tell me everything they feel.

Truth is my teacher.

Let truth be the master of my life and my mind.

When I am less than truthful, I feel a little energy shift.
It’s as if there’s a little energetic breeze that hints at what the truth ACTUALLY is.
I make a note.
I self-correct.
It’s a gentle and loving guide that goes with me always.

A commitment to the truth does require a willingness to be honest with yourself.

When we deceive ourselves, others will mirror that back to us.
That’s no fun.
We then decide they’ve betrayed us, but have they?
Or are they helping us to see what’s hidden?

The truth can only help us.
Let’s value the truth and no longer be afraid of it.

Accepting Divine Support

Thursday, August 27th, 2020

I’m so glad that people CAN change. I’m so glad that I am a person who can change. Thank GOD!

I used to walk into every situation and start looking for what was wrong and bad. I would look for the thing to complain about. I was a chronic complainer, and it was ALWAYS easy to find something I didn’t like or thought should be different.

It took me decades to see that if I affirm there’s a problem that needs fixing then I’m firmly anchored in the thought that the Divine has disappeared, and now, I’m on my own. I have to deal with it all myself.

Fortunately, the only thing required for a healing is for me to see the situation rightly.

As long as I’d like to be a person with a problem, then I will see a problem and it will seem very real to me. As long as I affirm that things aren’t right I won’t be able to see them rightly.

The Infinite has no problems that elude its problem-solving abilities because there are no problems in Divine Mind.

It is I who saw the problem, affirmed the problem, identified the problem, and collected all the evidence to support the existence of my big, bad problem.

In each of these stages of problem identification, I would become increasingly convinced that the problem was real and threatening. It felt more and more like God had left the building and I needed to solve this problem that was eating my life!

Every problem is built on the often hidden belief that, as I like to put it, “God left the building.” It can be very tricky to see that the fear that God is gone is the only problem. Since the Divine never goes on a vacation or hides it’s Divinity, the whole problem I’m creating a library of evidence to support is, in truth, completely a fabrication of a fearful mind. It’s all based on the false premise of: “What if I were separate from God?”

Now, as good spiritual students, we can say that we know all that. We understand separation thinking is the real problem – but do we?

If we no longer believe we’re separate, but we persist in thinking we have problems, then we don’t actually KNOW what we say we believe – and there’s the rub.

Healing happens when I recognize every challenge has come to help me be more loving, more kind, more compassionate, more in line with my Divine nature, more aware of the unity of all life. End of story.

It’s so simple, and yet fear is pervasive unless I stand anchored in the truth of omnipresent Divinity. This is my job. This is my ONLY job. All else I give to the One who has never left and can never leave.

In my surrender, I discover that my only prayer request is for the faith to know the Divine in every part of my life and always will be. The Holy Presence cannot leave the building, it IS the building and everything that surrounds it, as well as everything it contains.

God cannot leave me, nor can I leave God. Phew! Problem solved!

Eliminating Victim Consciousness

Wednesday, August 26th, 2020

Some people are looking to feel hurt. They are actually hoping they’ll get wounded in their connections with people. I’ve been there. I actually have done that. I’ve entered into situations with people anticipating that I’d be disappointed, hurt and that I’d walk away feeling rejected. Many people, just like me, have an attraction to victimhood.

I find it deeply comforting that our true self, our Higher Holy Spirit Self, the Mighty I AM Presence of us cannot be hurt, and cannot be a victim.

I aspire to live in a way that I AM unhurt-able. I get closer every day.

To be unhurt-able not because I’ve put up some kind of wall or shield to protect me, but because I don’t ever take anything personally. Ponder this: we’re one with each other, all completely united and one, can we actually hurt each other, or are we making it up? Are we hurting ourselves? Or are we simply having experiences and choosing to take things as an offense?

What I absolutely know is that the safest emotional place for me to live in this world is with my heart so wide open that I can embrace everything and keep nothing out.

No judgments, no hurts. No expectations, no disappointments. And no victims, either.

It’s the hardening of the heart, the blocking and withholding of Love that causes pain, anger, upset, and hurt. It’s trying to avoid hurt that causes the pain. The pain comes from taking ourselves out of the flow of Love.

Feeling hurt is a choice I don’t intend to make anymore.

I’m interested in eliminating choosing to be hurt and offended, because being hurt is not a good use of my energy and I don’t enjoy it. I am much more interested in liberating from false beliefs and being of service.

I used to be angry much of the time.
Now, I feel peaceful most of the time – and I’m looking forward to the good that I absolutely know is unfolding. I like this so much better than “preparing for the worst.”

And I’m not a victim anymore.

Since I’m the one who decides how I will perceive something, I can take everything as an opportunity to extend Love or receive Love.

To have Love, give all Love to All. It’s simple. It’s not easy, but thank God it’s simple! At least it’s not confusing!

Doesn’t being open hearted and unhurt-able sound great? I’m pretty sure that’s our natural state. After all, we’re light beings. How do you damage light? You can’t. It’s not even possible, so I’ve decided to stop believing it’s possible. Instead, I’m calling forth miracles.

I’m going for it! How about you? Are you willing to open your heart so much that you’d be unhurt-able and give up feeling like a victim? We can do this!

We can rid ourselves of victim consciousness and share the benefits with everyone!

The Power of Holiness

Tuesday, August 25th, 2020

Let us realize the power of our holiness to undo ALL of our relationship problems – and so much more!

Through your holiness the power of God is made manifest.  Through your holiness the power of God is made available.  And there is nothing the power of God cannot do. Your holiness, then, can remove all pain, can end all sorrow, and can solve all problems. It can do so in connection with yourself and with anyone else. It is equal in its power to help anyone because it is equal in its power to save anyone.

A Course in Miracles, Workbook Lesson 38

Have you read that in Lesson 38 and forgotten it?  I must confess that I have, and I’m willing to remember it now.  I’m willing to hold onto it and apply it to everything – most especially all my relationships.

Let me never again say that there’s a problem that cannot be solved.

In the past, I invested A LOT of energy in going over and over and OVER AGAIN the problems in my relationships.  When I look back, it’s amazing to me how much of my energy was invested in going around and around the same troubling loop.

I was so focused on what was threatening and troubling me that I didn’t realize I was magnifying and multiplying it.  Sheesh!  No wonder I felt guilty and ashamed.

I’ve learned to give ALL relationship issues to the Higher Holy Spirit Self for healing.

Sometimes it seems as though people won’t call forth a healing in their relationships because they just wish to invest their energy in the drama.  Some people seem to need the drama to feel alive and don’t trust that fully being loving is a the kind of aliveness that’s really possible for them.

We can heal EVERYTHING.  Giving our problems to the Higher Holy Spirit Self for healing is so helpful because we don’t have to figure out how to have a healing, we just call it forth and stand strong in the assurance that it IS occurring.

Working with the Higher Holy Spirit Self, we can become a problem solver.

 Our holiness can take over.

When we practice in this way we bring benefit to all beings.

When we have the strength to hold the vision of a healed relationship then we’re placing our faith in God to work it our and that’s a healing of our own doubt and limited beliefs.

Relationships are the best tool we have for healing our whole life.  Holiness is the best tool we have!  Let’s make the most of it and call forth a miraculous healing today, and then remember that we’ve given the problem to Spirit for healing and it’s not our problem anymore!
