Undoing Fear

Thursday, July 9th, 2020

I can remember when I would have shock waves of fear that seemed to shoot through me like lightning waves.  I’d have a thought that would produce a rush of adrenaline and an energetic shock that moved through me in a way that my heart would start racing instantly.  The worst was late at night or first thing in the morning.

Once I had a mild panic attack that was a whole different kind of fear but felt almost foundational – like my very core was threatened.

If only someone could have told me then what I now know!  And A Course in Miracles says it so well:

“All fear is ultimately reducible to the basic misperception that you have the ability to usurp the power of God.”  ACIM T-2.I.4.

I understand that it seems hard to believe that all fear comes from judging, and from thinking thoughts that are untrue.

It can seem as though fear comes from what’s happening in the world.  It can seem like there’s a monster out there that’s upsetting us, but all of the causes or fear are in our own mind.

Our opinions are what’s frightening us.

When we affirm our judgments and opinions we’re affirming that we’re the ones who decide who is good and who is bad, who is right and who is wrong, and in doing so we become the usurpers.  We’re usurping God.  We become guilty of spiritual patricide.  And that’s really scary.

We can train our mind to see beyond appearances and recognize only the truth, or we can continue to learn to live with fear and bend ourselves to it’s uncomfortable distortions of reality.  I move that we love ourselves enough to stop frightening ourselves and live in Peace.

Consider if there’s someone in your life that you really love and adore – would you yell at them?  Frighten them?  Torture them?  Manipulate them?

You wouldn’t do those things if you truly loved them.  Those behaviors have nothing to do with Love.  They are the distorted behaviors that fear brings.

Let’s undo the patterns of fear in our own mind so that we unwind the pattern in all minds!

What judgment do you have that could possibly be worth holding onto when you know that it will cause your own suffering?  Think of all the things you’ve done to try to end your suffering that haven’t really worked.

Would you try the one thing that actually works?

Or do you feel that you can have your judgments and the fear you experience is unrelated?

I don’t think I could have believed giving up my opinions would relieve me of fear.  I only know that it works because I have been giving up my judgments as part of my daily spiritual practice for more than a decade and as a result, I don’t have much fear.  Most of the fear I experience these days is annoyance.

I can’t remember the last time I felt one of those shock waves of fear, but I can remember feeling joyous and grateful yesterday.  I feel grateful and thankful even now as I write this.

I let God be God.  I am part of God, and I don’t need to judge anything or anyone anymore.  I’m not interested in being a usurper.  I prefer to feel free and harmonious ALL of the time.  I am intent on it.  I am closer to my goal every day!  And for this, I am so very grateful!  I am loving myself free of lack, attack and limitation.  It’s happening now!

Clarity

Wednesday, July 8th, 2020

Have you ever argued with God? I have.

Sometimes the need to be right is so strong. Whenever that happens, I know I’m wrong. And I know I need to let it go.

I used to get so confused by my own need to be right, to argue for my position, all the while noticing that I wasn’t making myself happy. Oh, the good ole days!

One of the issues was that I was taking my own counsel.
I was looking to myself for advice and that wasn’t going so well.

I thought I had the ability to discern what was what, but I didn’t.
Eventually, I learned to go to Spirit for the answers I needed.
Spirit already knows the answer to every question that we could have.

Our Spirit, which is part of the Spirit– part of God— Spirit, our Spirit, THE Spirit, is not bound by time and space. Spirit doesn’t have blocks to awareness of everything in time and space, to every causation of every single thing in this world, from a slight cough to the most complex disease, to poverty. Every single cause and cure are known in the Mind of God. There’s no confusion whatsoever.

But we, in our holding onto the decisions that we’ve made about the past, are holding onto the blocks to Love which prevent us from seeing, knowing, feeling, and hearing clearly what the truth is. The antidote to those blocks, the removal of those blocks, is completely, 100%, dependent upon our willingness to experience the Clarity rather than the confusion.

In order to experience the Clarity rather than the confusion, we must make a new decision. A new decision.

The way our experience works in this human realm is, we make decisions about life, and what we think life means – we give it all the meaning that it has for us.

We make decisions like “I’m not good enough.” We make decisions like “Dogs are not safe.” Or, “People are not safe.” Or, “Women are not safe.” Or, “Men are not safe.”

We make all kinds of decisions based on our experience, and then those become the blocks to Love, because they’re not true.

They are a projection. They are perception. They are beliefs that are the effects of the decisions we made.

For example, let’s say that someone in our childhood is very unloving to us, and so we form the belief we’re unlovable. I’ve worked with many people, as a Spiritual Counselor, who were cruelly treated as children.

Many times, those people come to believe their care givers, are treating them this way because there’s something horribly wrong with them. They think, it must be them. They deserve it.

This is often what happens with children. My mother used to work in childhood services, and she would see things like a child who has been burned with a cigarette, and violently attacked in the home.

The children are taken away to child services, and many times all that child wants is to get back to that very same caregiver, that parent, or whoever it is, who was hurting them.

We interpret things incorrectly and then make decisions based on our interpretations.

And this places blocks in the mind. Like veils in the mind, that become a distortion of reality.

In order to heal this, we can use prayer. Because there’s not one person on this planet– I’m absolutely convinced of this, there’s not one person on this planet that makes a prayer, or offers a prayer request, that does not have a small amount of willingness to have healing.

Why would we write out a prayer request and put it in a prayer box if you had no willingness to receive the healing and the transformation? Why would we ask for prayer, why would we make a prayer, unless we had the tiniest little bit of willingness to receive the answered prayer?

Prayer is POWERFUL! Let’s pray all throughout our day. Let’s pray to let go of all the decisions we’ve made that are predicated upon a false conclusion. We can even pray for greater willingness!

Giving Up Grudges

Tuesday, July 7th, 2020

Following this past weekend’s 4th of July celebrations, I’m still thinking about Freedom.  Particularly the Freedom to BE generous, kind, loving, thoughtful and truly helpful.

If I really believe that all is One, is it possible for me to have a private thought? If I’m entertaining thoughts of judgment, unforgiveness, anger, and resentment and I desire to keep them private, hidden from the rest of the Infinite Mind, then I must be simultaneously broadcasting a deep desire to be on my own, separate and NOT part of the cooperative Love Festival that God is. In this case, I have surely lost my mind.

When I dis someone aren’t I actually trashing myself AND the Divine (since all is ONE)? Does it matter if the person I don’t approve of is in the next cubicle, in the next house or car or on American Idol? If there is One source and supply of talent, inspiration and prosperity, is it ever possible to “get away with” thinking disparagingly of other’s efforts?

If I can be jealous, resentful and critical of others am I not then throwing myself into solitary confinement of my own creation? Aren’t judgments of others a way of saying, “I am not part of the river, therefore I can dump waste into it and not be touched by it.”

Doesn’t my judging attitude guarantee that the toxic waste of negative thought will stink up my house? If I begrudge others their success, am I not limiting my own ability to access the flow of creativity? Won’t my own prosperity then SEEM elusive and out of reach?

I’ve had all the experience I need to have in order to know that I can only receive that which I’m willing to give.

Therefore, it is essential that I not pour anything into the river that I don’t want to drink by the gallon. And so, today, I’m grateful for an awareness of truth.  My deep desire to see the truth instantly restores my mind to pristine awareness. From this place I choose love for me and for everyone.

Restoration comes when I can act as if I can feel and sense the Oneness of all life even when I cannot.

Choosing to honor my connection with the All in All restores my mind to an awareness of Truth. From this choice all things are added. My choice resounds throughout the infinite and all are lifted.

In this simple way my practice deepens profoundly and I am truly a beneficial presence on the planet.  My aspirations to make the world a better place are being fulfilled.  In this moment I fulfill the opportunity felt by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “We have before us the glorious opportunity to inject a new dimension of love into the veins of our civilization.”

I am grateful that we can practice together!

Activating Your Abundance

Wednesday, July 1st, 2020

In my Finding Freedom Spiritual Bootcamp class I talk about having an awareness of your spiritual budget.  I’ve found this really helpful to me in shifting my mind and experiencing more happiness.  It also has had an affect on my Abundance and Prosperity.

There was a time in my life when I was deficit spending in my finances and there was also a time I was deficit spending in terms of my happiness.

What I realized was that the way to shift things, and to do it quickly, is to increase the positive and decreases the negative – work it from both sides.

Many people thing that the answer to debt is simply to earn more money or to cut expenses.  What I’ve definitely proven is that shifting my mind from a focus on lack and limitation to a focus on gratitude and Love was the most effective change for me to activate my Abundance.

I’ve learned that doing my forgiveness work, and really looking deeply at the root causes of my resentments and regrets, while doing the self-forgiveness healing work has FAR MORE to activate and increase the flow of Prosperity in my life than just earning more money or cutting expenses ever did.

I had the experience of running up a lot of debt and carrying it for a number of years – and then through my active spiritual practice I attracted opportunities to earn much more money and I quickly paid off much of my debt – only to have it return.  I found myself with even more debt.

This taught me that the answer wasn’t in the world – I learned it for REAL and so that led to my gratitude.  I prayed for the answer and it came in the form of clarity, insight and divine guidance.

I did the deep forgiveness work – starting with myself.

Then forgiving others, and THEN I was led out of the wilderness of my debt.

I had avoided looking within because I was afraid of what I’d see.

I preferred to blame others for my problems.

Through my practice of prayer I finally became willing to develop a greater spiritual maturity and I found myself truly desiring to forgive EVERYTHING.

I began to get on a roll and build some real momentum.  And that’s what my classes are about now.  I like creating a safe space, with lots of support, where those who are willing can work in group and develop the inner fortitude to do the deep healing work and build the momentum of growing from breakthrough to breakthrough and from glory to greater glory.

I feel so blessed now to support those who would like to do as I’ve done.  Together we dive deep and fly high – on an ever-increasing upward spiral of God’s omnipresent goodness.

I feel so blessed.

I know for a fact that self-forgiveness leads to all kinds of good, including physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, relationship and financial healing – and so much more.  That’s why this work is never boring or tiresome.  It’s actually AMAZING because it’s always about returning to the unprecedented.

If you’d like to have a major increase in your experiences of direct knowing and miracles, you might like my Finding Freedom From Fear, spiritual bootcamp class with ACIM principles. I haven’t offered this class in 9 months – this is your chance, if you’d like to join me and GO FOR IT!

The “Dynamics” of the Ego

Tuesday, June 30th, 2020

Many people who are A Course in Miracles students like me have come to think of the ego as though it’s a being with it’s own volition.  We’re Dr. Jekyl and the ego is Mr. Hyde.  Only it’s not.  The ego, according to ACIM, is a thought system that is very layered, and dense and that has it’s own logic which is completely illogical.

The ego thought system is the mechanism by which our belief in separation is kept in place.

Many of us think of the ego as the enemy, but it doesn’t make sense.

The ego is a thought system that we have chosen to think “through” in the sense that it is something like a lens through which we’re viewing our experiences.  It colors our experiences when we view the world through it, but we don’t have to.

The ego is not a decision maker.  We are.

The ego is not the one who chooses.  We are.

The ego is not in charge.  We are.

The ego is not part of God.  We are.

We’ve trained ourselves to believe that we’re a small selfish self that is a victim of life’s circumstances and situations.  We’re not that.  That’s the ego thought system’s view and we’ve taught ourselves to believe it.

Because it’s not real, it’s false, we can abandon it and recover ourselves.

We think of the ego like an enemy because we feel caught up in it and deceived by it.

Well, that’s understandable.  So, if the ego SEEMS like the enemy, let’s understand it in order to undo it.

Let’s learn about how the ego thought system can be quickly undone and we can awaken in this dream of separation.  That’s what I’m interested in.  I am so glad that we CAN undo these thoughts and beliefs, and that it doesn’t have to take forever.  We can learn to be the happy learner and we can demonstrate it so others can learn too!

To me, this is the most tremendous blessing!  We’re already as holy as holy can be AND we get to share!

If undoing that feeling of being trapped by the ego is a challenge, you might like my  Finding Freedom From Fear, spiritual bootcamp class with ACIM principles.  I haven’t offered this class in 9 months – this is your chance, if you’d like to join me and GO FOR IT!

PLUS I’m recording all new classes.

What This Time Is For

Sunday, June 28th, 2020

Right now, there’s a lot of blame going around. I know all too well what it feels like to be upset with situations I didn’t like and deceive myself by blaming it on other people. I made them the bad guy. In truth, I was sent into that situation to improve it and make it better.

I’ve learned that if I don’t like the way something is, I don’t give up on it and walk away, I stay and do my best to make it better.

I hold the vision of God’s perfection in the situation. If the others won’t join me, and aren’t interested, then I can take my loving view somewhere else, but I still don’t give up.

I am here to be TRULY helpful. It’s true, humanity can seem like a hot mess, but it’s also the most gorgeous mosaic of exploration.

We’re the prodigal son, finding our way back home.

We are both the children AND we’re the parents in that story.

We get to welcome ourselves back home and to each other, because we are home for each other.

And that, to me, is beautiful. REALLY stunningly beautiful.

I wouldn’t miss this part of the journey for anything!
I wouldn’t wish to miss the part where we all come back to gather and remember our unity –
even though it’s not easy,
even though it’s really challenging.

I am willing to learn to LOVE completely, without conditions.
It’s a hell of a ride!
And I’m glad we’re in it together.
I’m glad we can’t do it alone.

Last weekend, I started my Stop Playing Small Online Retreat and I learned a lot. It was so clear that we’re all so alike. Many of us agreed that we have these beliefs:

  • I’m not good enough, something’s wrong with me, I’m unlovable, I’m bad, or some version of that PLUS
  • These spiritual things work for other people, but not for me
  • Why bother to do anything differently if it doesn’t work for me?

I felt trapped inside those thoughts for SO MANY YEARS.
We all have.
This is our common experience.

Like everyone else, I felt trapped inside my own personality. I felt like a mean, petty, dog barking endlessly. No matter what was going on, I always came back to that feeling of being trapped inside myself with no way out.
It was my determination to find some way to find a happier life that FINALLY brought me to a deeper spiritual practice – one that I wouldn’t quit and wouldn’t give up on.

It didn’t help me to intellectually know that I was free on a spiritual level.

I didn’t FEEL it.
And if we don’t FEEL free,
we won’t believe it.
We won’t FEEL free until we believe it –
and that’s the challenge!

That’s why I’m committed to PROVING God works in my life.

And since our minds are joined, when one can do it, all are lifted.

We can all FEEL the Freedom that is ours, by inheritance.

And then we can share it with others.
With our family.
Friends.
Workplace.

I determined that I would figure out how to do this Freedom work for myself and then share with others.

My problem was, deep down, I was certain it wouldn’t work for me.

HOW CRAZY IS THAT?

I was CERTAIN it wouldn’t work for me. And I decided to do it anyway?
I had to be WILLING to give up that sense of hopelessness and TRUST that Spirit could do something with my little bit of willingness.
I had such a strong belief that I’d be free WHEN … [fill in the blank].
I’d be free when … I could easily pay my bills.
I’d be free when … I had a better relationship, a better job, a better … whatever.

It’s SO easy to be convinced that freedom is conditional.
After all, that’s what the world teaches –
even though it’s not true.
The world teaches that all good things are conditional.
They come with a price tag.
A string attached.

In fact, nothing could be further from the Truth.
That which is real has already been given.
That’s what A Course in Miracles says:
Ask and it is given because it already has been given.

Freedom is a spiritual quality – infinite and eternal.
It’s ours already.

How could TRUE Freedom come with a price tag?

AND still, we can choose to block the experience of Freedom by our beliefs in lack, attack, limitation, and separation. In fact, we do it all day long. We can believe it’s impossible.

First, I had to be willing to get out of the cage of believing that my happiness was conditional. I just had to be willing.

THEN, I could become willing to actually begin to FEEL some Freedom. First, you have to actually feel free – and that’s where many people get stuck. I was stuck for a long time.

I was utterly convinced that my feeling free and happy were completely tied to what was happening in the world, in my life, in my home, in my family, in my finances, in my body, and in my job.

I had not a single clue HOW to get to the Freedom in my mind.

Reading spiritual books didn’t get me much closer.
In fact, it made me feel MORE like a failure.

I finally realized that all my studies could be a distraction from actually doing the real work of spiritual practice.

After all, I had all this information telling me that healing is at the level of the mind and yet my mind wasn’t healing.

Sound familiar?

I would read things that said, “When you heal the mind, the world of form, experience, relationships, finances, health and wealth WILL follow.”

And I’d think: Ok, I believe it. But HOW????????

Because I was praying all the time, the answer started to come to me.

I needed to stop asking the wrong questions, which were:
What’s wrong with me?
Why doesn’t it work for me?
Why can’t I get this?
What’s my problem?
How come this is easier for everyone else?
I’m I just fundamentally messed up?

And those are just some of the UN-helpful questions I was asking ALL DAY LONG. UGH!

As God would have it, because of the prayer I was constantly doing, I had a realization that I was asking the wrong question, and I wasn’t as willing as I thought I was.

Two things happened. First, I made a decision:

I decided to put all of my eggs in the God basket.

Once I did that I had another realization:

I started asking for results.

Ask and it is given. Pretty simple. Duh.

I started asking:
Show me how.
Tell me how.

Help me to see only the HOW and nothing else!

I started really entering into a RELATIONSHIP with Spirit.

I started to ask and listen. I had to learn HOW to listen.

Everything began to steadily and then rapidly change for me.
It felt completely miraculous.

I stopped feeling stuck and started gaining momentum because I was given a series of things to do and I did them.

It wasn’t a picnic, it wasn’t easy.
Spiritual practice requires us to do something different.

I had to DEMONSTRATE my willingness to heal my life by doing something that would actually make a difference.

Spirit didn’t say, “you go binge-watch the West Wing on Netflix, I’ve got this handled.”

It was NOT easy.

My happiness required me to become more and more willing to follow the guidance, the steps, the exercises, in order to have the healing.

What I did immediately, was I began to share what I was learning with others. I wrote it down and I thought about how I could share what was working for me in a way that would be helpful to others.

I’ll be honest, it’s been a lot of work for me. I keep working at making it easier for people. I keep asking Spirit to show me how to be MORE helpful, and to be more clear. So that people will get it and be really willing to let the pain go.

I do this every day. That’s my job. And I LOVE it.

I found the happiness that was there for me all along and I found Freedom and everything, everything, everything in my life has changed for the better.

There’s not one thing in my life that hasn’t improved.

And this is exactly why I’ve been inspired to share what has miraculously worked for me. I say miraculously because that’s what A Course in Miracles tells us – the miracles happen at the level of the mind FIRST and then we see the miraculous shift in our world.

Here are the basics of what I learned:
Be willing to TRUST.
Practice TRUE forgiveness.
Get into a RELATIONSHIP with Spirit.
Relinquish the judgments.
Pray and pray and pray some more.

These are the things that changed my life.

And now, I feel so ready and available for these massive changes that are happening in our hearts and minds all over the world.

It’s so clear to me that this time of quarantine is to give us an opportunity to go deeper, to focus on the work with more intent.

So many spiritual students tell themselves that if they had more time they’d deepen their spiritual practice, but then Spirit gives them that time, if they really mean it, and some people do deepen their spiritual practice, but most people don’t.

To me, this time right now is for our simultaneous preparing for what’s to come AND our awakening.
We are ushering in the golden age of enlightenment.
This IS what we’re doing.

It’s ALL HANDS ON DECK time.
And this is the part I wouldn’t miss.
This is what we’ve been preparing for our entire lives.
It’s GO time!

We can really do this. This is what we’re here for

If you’re feeling ready to deepen your spiritual practice and connection with Spirit, but you’re not sure how to be more willing, practice true forgiveness, deepen your relationship with Spirit, relinquish the judgments, pray effectively, my Finding Freedom From Fear Bootcamp maybe your answered prayer. This is going to be SO good because I am ON FIRE!

Everyday Spiritual Practice

Saturday, June 27th, 2020

My life significantly improved when I decided to make my spiritual awakening my #1 priority. It was a shift in my thinking – and it shifted everything in my life for the better.

Some things in my life fell away and some new things were added. All of the changes were helpful.

EVERYTHING can be a part of our spiritual practice.

In this world, everything is a projection of our minds. It’s all part of our awakening experience. Every aspect of our life and every detail – from paying our bills, to doing dishes, to picking up the kids from school.

Even Facebook can be a part of our spiritual practice.

ALL that’s required is a willingness to see with Divine Eyes and to make healing the priority. The rest will be given to us. The Higher Holy Spirit Self will turn everything into a part of our spiritual practice if we ALLOW it. We don’t have to figure it out.

I’ve learned that living this way makes life SO much easier. It transforms EVERYTHING. Decide that this is what you’d like to do. For instance, let’s take a look at two intentions for doing a simple task like cutting the grass in the yard.

Intention #1 – we can mow the lawn in order to have the chore done and that’s all. If that’s our intention we might spend the whole time ruminating about what other people think of us.

Intention #2 – we can do that same chore as part of our spiritual practice. If working in the yard is part of our spiritual practice we can make it a mindfulness meditation and time to meditate in nature. We can dedicate ourselves to sharing the beauty and communing with Mother Earth.

We can bless as we are blessed.

Our intention will determine the benefits. There’s no extra charge to make even the most mundane chores part of our spiritual practice and there’s so much benefit.

Think about running errands as a way to bless people all over town! Every chore you do in your home is a gift to Life itself. Why not make every moment a blessing? No extra charge to bless everything every moment of every day! That’s a day of continuous blessings!

There’s so much healing that’s available to us now. We really can give the Spirit the heavy lifting of taking from us all that doesn’t serve us. Willingness is what’s required.

It can be scary to put Spirit in charge of your life. It was for me, but then I realized what an improvement it was!

Let’s focus on a strong intention to put Spirit in charge all day, every day.

I encourage you to make your spiritual life your whole life, and awakening from illusions and delusions your priority.

You’ll be amazed at how much your life improves. Surrender needing to be in charge, until you realize that your Spirit is in charge and that’s who you REALLY are!

If trusting Spirit – and people – is your big challenge, you might like my  Finding Freedom From Fear, spiritual bootcamp class with ACIM principles.  I haven’t offered this class in 9 months – this is your chance, if you’d like to join me and GO FOR IT!

PLUS I’m recording all new classes.

If this is right for you right now, you’ll know it.

My Cry For Love

Friday, June 26th, 2020

I don’t think there’s been anyone in my immediate family who has been as hostile, petulant, judgmental, passive-aggressive or down right mean as I have.  I used to be utterly obnoxious at times.  I would lose control and behave like a crazy person.  And here’s how it’s ALL good.  Now, I have so much compassion for myself and others when they aren’t being their normal loving self.

A parent once shared with me a mean comment that she heard one of her children say to the other.  The comment was definitely intended to attack and hurt and the parent, understandably, wanted to know how to discipline the child.  My first thought was, if your child is being mean, they need some extra love not discipline.

I know that when I was behaving like a deranged monster, it was just a cry for Love.

I truly didn’t know what else to do.  Honestly, I was doing the only thing that made sense to me.

Of course I understand why my loved ones got angry with me and wanted to punish me to teach me that my behavior was unacceptable.

They love me and they wished for me to learn to behave in ways that were acceptable.

They also didn’t want to live with a crazy, mean person.  Who does?

I’m so grateful that my family never gave up on me or kicked me out.  I’m SO grateful.

What I’ve learned is that Love heals.

Love is patient, Love is kind.

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking;

it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things; endures all things.

Love never ends.

                                Corinthians 4-8

Love is unconditional.

As Shakespeare said so beautifully “Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds, nor bends with the remover to remove.  It is an ever-fixed mark that looks on tempests and is never shaken.”

It might not be easy to love without conditions, but it’s definitely healing to everyone involved.

In this world, to be the happy learner, we absolutely must forgive everything.  We must let all the beliefs go.  We must surrender all of our interpretations and the meaning we’ve made of things.  In other words, we must relinquish the hold we have on all that is false, all the stories we’ve made up and told.

Our mind IS the mind of God.

Whatever we hold in our mind will seem true to us whether it is true or not.

We cause trouble, and upset ourselves when we actively choose to believe that which isn’t true.  Our happiness depends upon our willingness to value the truth above all else.

One thing many people do is they decide that people don’t love them or that we’re not lovable, or they’re not lovable.   There’s such a strong tendency for people to make declarations that are limiting and just bring more sorrow, frustration, regret and resentment.

When we’re holding resentment it won’t end until we release the meaning we’ve made of things.  That’s the only way out of that one.  We can learn to relax our mind and have more patience.  It is SO worth it.

We can accomplish so much with Love and nothing without it.

My practice of non-judment isn’t perfect yet, but one thing I know is to “love them anyway.”

Let’s remember to Love more fully and more consistently and let’s do it together!

Undoing Fear

Thursday, June 25th, 2020

What judgment do you have that could possibly be worth holding onto when you know that it will cause your own suffering? Think of all the things you’ve done to try to end your suffering that hasn’t really worked.

I am loving myself free of lack, attack, and limitation. It’s happening now.

Relentless Good

Wednesday, June 24th, 2020

One of the big traps of the ego is deciding who is right and who is wrong. Often, we find that we’re the biggest culprits of them all.  The ego is the mindset of separation.  It’s job is to separate and it does that through the activity of sorting.

Sorting out who is right and who is wrong is a major use of ego, time and energy.  We can spend huge amounts of our precious attention on determining who is right and who is wrong.  And, for a moment, the ego seems to feel fulfilled, empowered, justified, and important.

Observing life, you can watch people all day long as they struggle to figure out who is right and who is wrong, to assign blame (and often shame) as well as responsibility.  It gives the ego a lot to do.

What many of us don’t notice is that all that judge, judge, judging leaves an energetic hangover that is painful.  The pain that leads us to tune out, disconnect, and hide.  And then we slowly begin to learn what a bad investment we made with our precious attention.  Labeling people isn’t helpful.

And then, sometimes, we just want to tune out.

Since Love is all there is, aren’t we tuning out from Love?

Since Spirit is omni-present Love, aren’t we disconnecting from Love?

Since the Infinite One Mind is omni-active are we really thinking we can hide from our own mind?

Where can I go from Your Spirit?

Or where can I flee from Your presence?

If I ascend into heaven, You are there;

If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.  Psalm 139

Deciding who is right and wrong is predicated on the concept that I am the decider.  When I’m the decider it often means that I’m either thinking that God has left the building and now I’m in charge.  I’ve learned that I do NOT want to be in charge.  I’m not (yet) able to see through all directions of time and space and so I’m not able to discern what everything is for.

My Spirit knows it’s all working together for my relentless good.

I do not wish to replace the Higher Intelligence in my mind – I tried that and it didn’t go well for me.  I’d like to do everything I can to avoid falling back into that mindset.  I’ve worked very hard to realize that God’s plan is the best way for me to go.

The Higher Holy Spirit Self’s plan doesn’t include my judging people and deciding who is good and bad.

I can think I know what’s right and wrong in the moment.  I look for the loving choices and that feels right to me.  Unloving choices feel wrong to me.

People, are all good at their core.

Their essence is still perfect and pristine, regardless of their behavior.  Knowing that, I don’t need to label people with some story I’ve made up.  I’ll stick to focusing my attention on remembering the truth, which is that we’re all good and perfect.

I hardly use the words right and wrong anymore.  Mostly their helpful in describing how things feel.  Paying attention to how things feel is a great skill that I work on each day.  Labeling people isn’t helpful to me, only to the ego.  I don’t work for the ego anymore.

Is there anyone you’ve labeled wrong that you could let go?  You can still feel their actions are unloving, but do you need to label the person?  This is a very powerful and healing contemplation.  We can call the angels in to help us and be willing to see clearly the face of God in each one we meet, for our own Peace of mind.  It works!  Peace is worth it!

Fear and Self-Deception

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020

Oh, my goodness! The fear that self-deception brings along with it is INTENSE!

Looking back, I can see that when I deceived myself about anything, I was contributing to my own sense of instability.

What do we deceive ourselves about?

Many times it’s about how people feel about us. We just can’t handle what we feel is really going on, so we look the other way.

I’ve done that.

I’ve let someone treat me poorly because I pretended not to notice.
I couldn’t handle the truth.

I’ve deceived myself about jobs I had, that I didn’t really feel good about. I pretended that I liked it more than I did, even to myself.

I’ve been upset with situations I didn’t like and deceived myself by blaming it on other people.

We have to welcome ourselves back home and each other. And that, to me, is beautiful. REALLY stunningly beautiful.

I wouldn’t miss this for anything!
I am willing to learn to LOVE completely, without conditions.
It’s a hell of a ride!

If you think you might be deceiving yourself, or managing and coping with fear, you might like my Finding Freedom From Fear, Spiritual Bootcamp class with ACIM principles. I haven’t offered this class in 9 months – this is your chance if you’d like to join me and GO FOR IT!

Guilt

Monday, June 22nd, 2020

One reason children are so light and happy is that they don’t feel guilty – yet.

Many people use the threat of guilt as a motivator.  Some use guilt to keep them playing small and avoid taking risks.  I’ve certainly been guilty of both!

I’ve talked with many people who don’t fully enjoy their life because they feel it would be selfish and they’d feel guilty.

Many people even feel guilty just for taking care of themselves – as though good self-care somehow is putting themselves first, which is selfish.  Selfish is bad and wrong.

The guilty mind punishes again and again.

Self punishment is a strong motivator for many people and it keeps them in a loop, like a hamster on a wheel, repeating a limited and unhappy existence.  It is our destiny to live a joyful life and A Course in Miracles is the mind-training to help us get there!

It’s interesting how many people believe they should feel guilty for taking care of themselves. One of the biggest challenges I see at work in many people’s minds is this belief that it’s better to give than to receive.  How could that be true when there is only one?  It’s insanity.  The only place to give to is Spirit and the only place to receive from is Spirit, how could giving be better than receiving?  It’s so important and valuable and healing and nourishing to be receptive to Spirit’s guidance and flow of Love.  Without that we wither and die, literally!

The ego thought system is diabolically opposed to itself!

The ego believes that taking care of yourself is selfish, which is bad and wrong. The ego believes that we’re supposed to give and give and give and give in order to get the Love, approval, attention and affection that we want and need.  We end up believing that we have to give and give and give in order to earn Love, thereby reinforcing the idea that we’re separate from Love.

The ego believes that others are selfish, bad and wrong if they don’t appreciate all that we’re giving to them. They should reciprocate by giving us everything that we need.  It’s all lunacy.  Time for a healing!

When we don’t take good care of ourselves, when we over-give and give in order to get something back, then we’re going to feel depleted and it’s not because someone made us or we did it for someone else.  Over-giving to depletion is a choice that is a form of self-sabotage and it’s time for us to let it go!  We over-give because we believe in lack.  Over-giving is an affirmation of lack.

Some spiritual students believe that suffering and martyrdom are somehow holy.  This has been taught for thousands of years.

Suffering and martyrdom are the OPPOSITE of holy.

Suffering and martyrdom are pure ego.

It’s our responsibility to take good care of ourselves and keep our wellspring of energy, radiance and luminosity full.

There are no extra points for running on empty.

No one can maintain our radiance for us – this is ours to do.  If you feel guilty taking good care of yourself consider this:  If you live in service to the Light, then everything you do to make sure you are a brightly shining light brings benefit to all.  It’s not selfish to take good care of yourself, it’s another act of service to the Light!

Eliminating these thought patterns is exactly what my Finding Freedom Spiritual Bootcamp class is all about.  This is where our Freedom is revealed.  Freedom is already our natural state underneath all of the punishing thoughts we’ve adopted.

Managing and coping with painful patterns isn’t healing and it’s not loving.

What can you do today to care for yourself with kindness?

One thing we can ALL do is give the guilt, known and unknown, recognized and unrecognized, to the Higher Holy Spirit Self for healing.  Let the suffering be OVER!  This is our time of Love & Freedom!

I haven’t offered Finding Freedom From Fear, my spiritual bootcamp class with ACIM principles in 9 months – this is your chance, if you’d like to join me and GO FOR IT!  I’m recording all new classes.

Please don’t put your healing and happiness off 1 more day. We will do the forgiveness work together in class.

Super Power

Thursday, May 21st, 2020

I can remember believing that the world made me feel things. It was upsetting because I felt like I couldn’t control what was happening to me. Anger became a way for me to defend myself, and it was so ineffectual. I was failing so often. I was flailing too. Flailing and failing – and yet I did learn from it.

The ego has no power of its own.

The ego thought system of separation only SEEMS to have power when we choose to invest our attention in it, as I did. And then I began to realize that the power of Love is the only REAL power and it’s a Power with a capital P, that is not power OVER others, but a power FROM Love itself. It is the one true power.

It’s God-Power.

When we choose Love, we dis-empower the ego. Love is our super power.
This is a great mantra:
The ego has no power.
I have the power because I am part of God.

We must be so care-full with our thoughts, words, and actions because our mind is the mind of God. Our word is the word of God.

Our choices are the choices of God in this world. That’s what this world is for – to teach us what the effects of our thoughts, words, and actions are in a world of illusion so that any unkind choices stay in this world and our permanent perfection goes undiminished and undamaged.

There’s a lot of talk in the political scene right now about resistance as a form of nonviolent protest. I have studied the personal practice of nonviolence and nonviolent resistance for years and I know how effective it can be – when it’s done with a loving heart. That’s the key – the loving heart.

When we resist in our hearts, we’re in a negative energy that isn’t helpful to anyone and is actually self-destructive. Haven’t we had enough of self-destructive behaviors? I certainly have.

Let’s face it, what is there to resist when Love is all there is? Resisting Love is what made us seem to be “lost in space” in the first place. Resisting Love is how we forgot to laugh at the tiny mad idea of separation.

It’s not possible for us to hold a negative thought and not be deeply affected by it.

Let’s surrender to Love and resist energizing negativity.

Praying for those who seem to be in opposition to our values is our best strategy for change. Praying for everyone to awaken to their true identity, releasing all thoughts of separation, and remembering our unity, this is the plan of spiritual action that will bring the greatest results. While we may practice nonviolent resistance as a political means, the greatest tool we have is our loving heart.

A Course in Miracles tells us these two important keys to our healing our mind of negativity:

Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists.
Seek not to change the world,
but CHOOSE to change your mind about the world

The best way to resist the ego is to disempower with it through choosing Love. When we each, in our own daily expressions are teaching only Love then we’re healing the cause of every problem we think we see in the world. It’s a winning strategy.

Love is our super power.

Choose Love Anyway

Wednesday, May 20th, 2020

Trust and faith in Spirit results in the end of our pain. Trust is a crucial part of our journey. It really is the foundation. That’s why A Course in Miracles calls trust the #1 characteristic of the Teachers of God.

Think of it this way: If you’d like to make a fresh start in life, you might need some capital. You might need some cash to invest in your new life. Trust IS that capital.

If we’re starting a new life, a new experience of healing, and revitalization, but we’re bring with us a truckload of debt in the form of old false beliefs, then how will we start that new life?

Through being willing to relinquish the habits that renew the patterns of pain, we are creating the opportunity to start that new life of Love and Joy.

It so often comes back to this from ACIM:

You recognize you want the goal.
Are you not also willing to accept the means?
If you are not, let us admit that you are inconsistent.
A purpose is attained by means,
and if you want a purpose you must be willing to want the means as well.
How can one be sincere and say,
“I want this above all else,
and yet I do not want to learn the means to get it?” T-20.VII.2

Trust is the means.
Are you willing?

It’s perfectly understandable if you have doubt. Have trust anyway.

This is the way to build your faith.

Trust anyway.

I love this poem by Mother Theresa:

Do It Anyway

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind,
people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful,
you will win some false friends and some true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank,
people may cheat you.
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight.
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough.
Give the best you’ve got anyway.

You see,
in the final analysis it is between you and God;
it was never between you and them anyway.

Yes, sometimes having trust in Love, trust in Spirit, is very difficult.

Sometimes it is intensely challenging, and it is precisely at these moments that we can have our greatest healing.

Let’s be willing to feel the fear and trust anyway.

If you truly are willing, in what area of your life will you do this?
Declare your intention and your willingness in the comments below!

I will hold it with you!

My Stop Playing Small Retreat was going to be in UK next month, but now it’s being offered online, so all can join. This online retreat is for folks who are frustrated with feeling stuck and fearful. Living A Loving Lifestyle

Monday, May 18th, 2020

Yesterday’s Sundays With Spirit was wonderful. I find these online services very uplifting and I’m so glad we’re doing them. Thank you Spirit!
In yesterday’s service, David Hoffmeister brought the message and one thing he shared was that forgiveness is a lifestyle. It’s his lifestyle. I can relate. We talked about LIGHT being our lifestyle.

It’s a lifestyle of being loving and it’s also healing, and happy-making and it brings prosperity. It’s the best lifestyle there is and it’s available to all of us.

All we have to do is choose to live a lifestyle of Love and it will unfold for us. We then begin to see what we couldn’t see before because now we’re living in the light.

It’s a living in the Love and Light lifestyle.

Living in the Light as a lifestyle gives us the advantage of seeing where we can make more productive choices.

When we’re living in the Light of our soul, then we can see and feel, know and hear more clearly what the truth is and then it’s easier to identify where we’re blocking the Light.

We don’t have to figure out how to heal the blocks to Love, we merely have to hand them over to the Higher Holy Spirit Self.

When we have a powerful, prayerful spiritual practice, we automatically notice when we’re out of alignment and we scoot right back in with the help of the HHSS.

Life can be so much easier when we place our trust and faith in Spirit. As David Hoffmeister reminded us yesterday, we’re always placing our faith and trust in something. In each and every moment, we’re ALWAYS placing in something. It’s either Spirit, or something else. If it’s Spirit, we’re peaceful. If it’s not Spirit, we’re moody and changeable.

It’s our choice.

I have to say, it’s the best thing in the world to follow Spirit’s guidance and to see and feel how well it goes. I wouldn’t have done the Sunday’s with Spirit without inspirational guidance from the HHSS.

Year’s ago I was guided to hold in my heart the online services would happen. And I’m so glad I did! It’s such a blessing to join together and have a healing! Yay! God!

I pray every day to be truly helpful. Prayer works! Joining together in prayer for our healing, for the active practice of joining with Spirit, and allowing my healing is precisely why every day I write inspiration and record a prayer to go with it. You can join me in cultivating the willingness that raises us ALL up so we can be truly helpful in this world.

Prayer is a power tool, and I am so grateful for having learned the power of it!

If you’re interested, I’m offering my Prayer Power class and you can get started right now. For years, this has only been available to folks in Masterful Living, but under the circumstances we have in the world right now, I was guided to open it to anyone. Join us if you feel called to deepen your spiritual practice of prayer

Also, my Stop Playing Small Retreat was going to be in UK next month, but now it’s being offered online, so all can join. This online retreat is for folks who are frustrated with feeling stuck and fearful. Cure for Worry

Monday, May 11th, 2020

The worried mind has invested in the idea that some thing other than God is happening and that other thing is working against them.

The worried person has come to believe they are on their own.
Spirit has left them.

Their faith is in their own ability to defend themselves against the world.
And they know they cannot do it.

It cannot be done, because the true attack, is coming from inside their own mind.

Nothing in the world will ever cause them to feel safe for more than a moment because the issue is not in the world, it’s in their perspective of the world.

This is very intense for the person.

The worried person does not make good decisions, helpful decisions or wise decisions, because they’re operating from false evidence appearing real. Worry = Fear. When our interpretations of the world are incorrect, it’s impossible to make good decisions.

Fear:

F undamental
E rror is
A voiding
R esponsibility

Rather than accept responsibility for how they feel and the poor decisions they’ve made and are making, the fearful person blames the fear on what’s occurring in the world – convinced that fear is based on situations and circumstances – which it fundamentally isn’t.

The worried mind looks to gather the evidence to support the theory that there is another power that’s more powerful than the Divine and they must defend themselves against it. They must fend for themselves.

The worried mind manages and copes with the problem of fear without ever solving the problem of fear.

The worried mind pours gasoline on the fire and then complains about the heat.

I’ve been there. We’ve ALL been there.
It’s part of our learning. It’s part of the curriculum.
We’re not fools. We’re not idiots. We’re not losers.

We’re learners.

What is the cure for the worried mind?

In my classes I say, Prove God in your life.

Prove God. Don’t just talk about it, read about it, think about it. PROVE GOD works in our lives.

There’s no substitute for knowing the truth. The truth is liberating.
When we prove it, we’ll know it forever, to our bones,
and that’s worth EVERYTHING.
that’s the END OF ALL FEAR.

Prove what’s true about God and you’ll never regret it.

When we’re intent on the truth, that which is false easily falls away.

For me, the spiritual practice that has been the most helpful is prayer.

I have witnessed prayer change my life, my relationships, my finances, my friendships, every aspect of my experience.

A Course in Miracles teaches us that prayer “is the medium of miracles.” Prayer is the divine soil in which we plant the deep desires of our heart so they bloom and grow to fruition.

AND it’s a real training to learn to make the prayer and leave it on the altar, and not take it back, not start trying to work our own will.

In the ACIM booklet Song of Prayer we’re told, “Prayer is the greatest gift with which God blessed His Son at his creation.”

Think about that!

Prayer is THE GREATEST gift we’ve been given and blessed by God with.

Get it?

For me, learning to pray was my answered prayer. How cool is that?

Jesus tells us, “Prayer is a way offered by the Holy Spirit to reach God.” Prayer is the way we can reach our creator and that IS the greatest blessing we can have – to be connected with God, our creator.

My confidence in the power of prayer comes not from anything I am doing, it comes entirely from my KNOWING that God receives and responds to every prayer of the heart because I’ve proven it.

We’re always heard. And the prayer is always answered.

We may choose to reject the answered prayer, but it’s always given.

Perhaps the prayer isn’t answered in the way we would wish for, but in the highest and best way that we’ll receive. Many times, our prayer is for something specific that may not be for our highest and best good. Many times, our prayer is for something that will actually get in the way of our happiness.

How crazy is that?
Again, we’re learners, learning from crazy choices.

We may pray for something that’s not for our highest good. Haven’t we all done that?
If we believe that a particular relationship, say, a marriage, staying together is definitely the answered prayer, or staying in a particular job, and we pray for that, aren’t we really praying for happiness? For Love? For healing and Prosperity? We just happen to think that the relationship with that particular person, or that special job represents all that we’d like, and so that’s why we want it.

Spirit knows the prayer of our heart – so perhaps that relationship will seem to end – so the true prayer can be truly answered with another person for whom we’re better suited can find us. Perhaps having three months of unemployment, while the perfect job for us lines up for us is actually the answered prayer.

We don’t actually know what’s best for us.
And even if we did,
we may not choose it.
We might reject it.
We’ve done it many times before.

I pray for truth to be revealed.
I pray for Love to prevail.
I pray to be receptive to the good.
I pray to let the causes of suffering go.
I pray to love without conditions.

If you’re interested, TODAY I’m starting my Prayer Power class, and soon I’ll be offering my Stop Playing Small Retreat online.

I would love to share with you the basics of what I’ve learned about HOW to pray effectively and use prayer as a power tool for changing our mind, our life, and to eliminate our blocks to Love.

If this is the right step for you right now, you will absolutely know it with your heart.

If you’d like to PROVE GOD with me, I will be so glad to stand with you, because I know that having the proof is the best medicine for a worried mind. Faith in God is the answer to all worries.

It may seem impossible, but that’s only for people who put their faith in their own perceptions.

Willingness is the requirement. A little or a lot. I’ll take whatever you’ve got.

Let’s do it together!

Healing Power of Prayer

Tuesday, May 5th, 2020

I love how a prayer shifts things so powerfully and so quickly. I’m grateful that I have prayer as a tool to use whenever I feel the need. It used to be that I would get into a bad mood or feel upset by things and I would let it go on and ON without thinking of stopping to pray. Crazy!

I started recording this daily prayer back in 2007 – 13 years ago – WOW!

I began offering the daily prayer because each day I was getting many calls for prayer from friends and counseling clients. Sometimes people would tell me that they really wished they could call me for prayer when they’re freaking out in the middle of the night.

I decided to find a way to make it possible for us to pray together any time of day, every day and, voila, the Prayer for Today was born.

I’m truly grateful that the technology we have these days supports our spiritual practice in so many ways. I’m grateful that we can use it to be Prayer Partners each day.

Prayer shifts the energy, it shifts the mood, it reboots us.

It’s so valuable to remember that we don’t have to suffer, we can refresh with a prayer. Prayer allows us to change our mind and change the channel that we’re tuned into. So much of our healing comes from our willingness to interrupt the patterns of fear. A prayer does it so well and so quickly!

I’ve learned the power of prayer from many miraculous experiences. I encourage you to pray on your own and to pray often. We don’t have to suffer, there are no extra points for suffering.

Let’s open ourselves EVEN MORE to the healing power of prayer anytime anywhere!

The Strongest Hearts

Friday, April 17th, 2020

Peace to you, my friend! I’ve been in quarantine by myself now for over a month. I have much more work than normal offering extra support during this time and strengthening our community with additional offerings. I have no complaints.

In breaks, I like to catch up a bit while cooking and I watch youtube videos of the late-night hosts doing their shows from their homes. They have a lot of jokes about how they’ve seen everything on Netflix and are bored.

I get it. They’re used to commuting and having meetings all day long and getting dressed in hair and make-up, having rehearsals and all kinds of activities that they don’t have while doing the show from home.

Spiritual students who have the luxury to quarantine at home or who are forced to quarantine, have been laid off or fired due to the virus are having a different experience.

This is the time that we were born for and have been preparing for our entire lives. This is a time when we can do more spiritual practice and focus on being truly helpful in our community.

Now, more than ever, our brothers and sisters are turning to us for support.

It’s time for us to strengthen our hearts.

I was sharing in class yesterday that, at the beginning of this pandemic, I was watching an hour or so of news a day, while cooking and doing things around the house. I was learning about the whole virus situation, just like everyone else.

Now, I don’t feel a need to focus on virus news. I can read a few tweets, check the headlines in a few papers and that’ll do me.

My job is to be at Peace, and to know that, despite ALL appearances, everything is working together for our good. More people are becoming more compassionate than ever. They’re opening their hearts to those who are in service, and those who have lost loved ones.

Just think, each day in NYC, at 7pm, the entire city applauds their health care workers and those in service to help them get through this incredibly difficult time. I lived in New York for 10 years and people used to say that New Yorkers are tough, and they are. They are resilient. They are strong and they are also loving and appreciative.

The toughest people on earth are the ones with the biggest hearts. Or so it seems to me.

One of the things that helps us navigate this intensity is to be able to feel our feelings and let them pass on through. Rather than deny them or subvert them, we can learn to feel our feelings. That does take strength and courage. It also builds strength, courage and compassion that we can share with others.

When we have the capacity to honor our own feelings without drowning in them, then we can support others who are going through a tough time and not fear their emotional outbursts.

Many people are grieving now, and suddenly. There is the obvious grief for the loss of life, but many are grieving the loss of their lifestyle, their job, their plans for the future and a myriad of things that they’d thought would be theirs.

Think of the weddings delayed.
Think of the families with new babies that no one can come visit.

Having offered grief support to many people for decades, one thing I know is that many, MANY people don’t know how to handle grief, and they definitely aren’t very good at handling the grief of other people.

Many of the folks I’ve talked to have been intensely wounded by the thoughtless things people have said to them. People don’t have an intention to be unkind or disrespectful, they just don’t understand what the grieving person is going through.

One of the most intense things I’ve ever heard said to someone grieving was said to an 84 year old woman who had recently lost her husband of more than 60 years. After only a few months into her widowhood, some of her closest friends were telling her she had to “get over it.” I was shocked.

Of course, this woman’s friends didn’t wish to hurt her feelings or disrespect her. Not at all, they just wanted her to be happy again and move on.

When our loved ones pass away, we aren’t going to get over it.

And we’re not going to move on.

Those things aren’t ever going to happen.
They are unrealistic expectations.

When someone loses a child, a parent or a spouse, a dear friend, even a beloved dog, please don’t ever say anything about getting over it or moving on.

To the person who is grieving, it’s worse than saying to someone who just had both their arms amputated, “you have to get over it.” They’re not going to EVER get over it. What they WILL do is learn to live with it, but until that day comes, they’re going to grieve and that will include being in denial, being angry, and feeling like they wish they could just die too. These feelings are normal.

Even our most extreme feelings are often perfectly normal.

Please don’t tell people to get over it or move on.

And, when people tell YOU those things, just bless them. You may want to smack them or shake them, but they don’t know what they’re talking about. They are ignorant. Not stupid, just ignorant.

If they knew what they were talking about they would just be quiet, and say something like, “I’m so sorry for your loss. I can’t even imagine what you’re going through. This must be so hard for you. That is so rough. I don’t know how you can handle it.”

You really don’t need to say any more than that.

Sometimes it can be helpful to say, “I know you’ll get through this. It’s very intense, and I’m here to support you.” But no one really NEEDS to hear that.

Initially, it’s not a good idea to ask people how you can help them. I know that seems counter intuitive. But if they have to figure out how you can help them it just becomes more work for them. If you ask them how you can help, now they have one more thing to do. Now they have to help YOU.

Instead, just start helping.
That’s why people bring food.

Bring food that can be put in the freezer.
Cut their lawn.
Walk their dog.
Take out their trash, bring their cans to the curb, put them back.
Water the lawn.
Clean the kitchen.
Do the laundry.

Offer to wash their car, gas up their car, drive them places and don’t take no for an answer.

Do whatever you can do. Take care of their recycling.

Just do stuff. Everyone can use help. Especially now.

And let’s remember that our hearts, like our bones, can actually be stronger for having gone through the challenges.

We live to Love another day and with more compassion than ever.

I like to celebrate Spirit with friends and so this Sunday I’m starting live-stream Sunday services – open to all. Join me, Lisa Natoli, Jimmy Twyman and more friends. We’ll have a spiritual celebration together and if you can’t join us, you can catch the replay! Because we’re going to be live on video, you’ll have to register to get the details. All are welcome, there’s no charge.

Every day, part of my spiritual practice is to write inspiration and record a prayer to go with it. You can join me in cultivating the willingness that raises us ALL up so we can be truly helpful in this world. Please share my daily prayer with anyone who would find it helpful.

If you’d like extra support, you can subscribe to “My Daily Shot of Spiritual Espresso” if you haven’t already.

You can also get the podcast of my daily prayers and/or find them at YouTube.

Having trouble sleeping?

There are more than 444 episodes of my radio show on podcast. And some people listen to me as they fall asleep. I don’t take it personally when folks tell me I put them to sleep. I’m glad my voice can be soothing. You can subscribe to my podcast and have that as a resource. Maybe I can help you fall asleep.

All of this is free.

I look forward to our Sunday gathering. It means so much that we can join together and love on each other!

May you and your family feel blessed today and every day!

Medium of Miracles

Thursday, March 5th, 2020

One of the things that get in the way of our living a highly functional spiritual life is that we can feel that we know what’s best. We get attached to what we think will make us happy, even though we’ve had so many experiences in our life that absolutely prove to us, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we don’t know what will make us happy. It’s insane.

What about this? Instead of telling God what we want, what if we decided to just BE happy and let Spirit guide us there? What if we focused entirely on cultivating the willingness to follow the path of inspiration?

Following the path of inspiration does require us to LET GO of what we think will make us happy.

What I’ve come to understand is that what ACIM teaches about prayer is that our happiness actually comes from giving up what we think will make us happy and opening ourselves to being in the flow of Love, which truly is the only thing that is actually fulfilling and happy-making.

If our answered prayer is a thing, a condition, a circumstance, then it’s temporary, and because of that we’ll ultimately come to see that it cannot fulfill us. It can only temporarily make us feel full. There’s a big difference between feeling temporarily satiated and a sense of fulfillment.

Our answered prayer is actually a release of false identification and stepping into a realignment with our true identity. This is a shift that Spirit will figure out for us and we can be led and guided to it – if we’re willing to accept that the answered prayer is not in this world, it’s in our minds.

We are not in this world.
We are Infinite Eternal Spirit.

When our mind is changed/healed,
that’s a miracle,
and that’s what changes the world.

ACIM says, “Seek not to change the world, but to change your mind about the world.”

Prayer is a means for changing our minds.

It is the medium of miracles.

Prayer is an active demonstration of our willingness to be in the flow of Love rather than directing the flow of Love.

Combine that with the willingness to ACCEPT the answered prayer, HOWEVER it may arrive, and then our mind is no longer rejecting our divinity – we’re in alignment with the Divine.

It’s extraordinary how simple the most helpful tools can be. Prayer is a powerful tool to help us accelerate the healing of our minds.

Prayer has changed my life and improved the quality of every day.

I say pray, and pray often. Let us all live a life of prayer without ceasing.

We can be kind to develop humility or we can be humiliated. Which do you prefer? Please share in the comments below!

Negative Feelings Can Be Helpful

Sunday, January 12th, 2020

I’ve spent a major portion of my life trying to figure out my own feelings and those of others. At times I’ve felt desperately confused and discouraged.

Trying to figure out my feelings and deal with them, as well as other people’s feelings has been a major investment of my time, energy and life-force. It is for many of us. I’m so glad that the teachings of A Course in Miracles actually work. It’s a much faster path with far less frustration, but it does require a great willingness.

We can have so much healing by noticing our feelings and going the other way.

However, when we work WITH Spirit, Partner UP, and stop trying to go it alone, things improve so rapidly it’s astounding. This is part of effective spiritual practice.

In this kind of training, there are people who are sharing their experiences and reminding me of how frustrated I used to feel. I used to feel so hopeless that I could ever effect a change. Now, my whole life has changed. Spirit did that.

For so long I thought that I didn’t have time for spiritual practice, now, I know that spiritual practice saves time. It saves, time and money.

So many people in my Masterful Living class have told me they have both saved a lot of money because they avoided surgery, they were able to give up expensive medications and anti-depressants. And many have been astounded at how their income increased.

I feel it’s so important to talk about what is REALLY possible because most people simply don’t believe, or won’t believe that an effective spiritual practice saves time, energy and money, but it does.

When we do the healing work, all heaven breaks out.
When we put Spirit in charge, and stop going it alone, that’s when we have the most tangible results.

I used to get triggered by something and then feel emotionally dragged down an old familiar rabbit hole that I hated. It happened so many times and so often that it became an affirmation that there was something terribly wrong with me and that I had no ability to control my life or my feelings or even what I said and did.

I’d “lose it.”

As children, when we lose self-control, the adults are supposed to be able to help us and teach us how to find “it” again – “it” being our center, our right mind. But many times they don’t. They’re not present enough in their right mind and instead of helping us find our way back to the center they simply make us wrong.

I talk with so many people in Masterful Living classes – and it even came up this past week – who were told, as children that their emotions and upsets were wrong. As little precious children so many have been told:

“Children are to be seen and not heard.”
“Stop crying or I’ll give you something to cry about.”

Parents are overwhelmed. It’s completely understandable.
Adults who cannot handle their own emotions cannot handle a child who is freaking out.

We get taught that our emotions are wrong.
They’re bad.
They’re unhelpful.
They’re unwanted.

The big messages are:
FEELING IS BAD!
FEELING WILL GET YOU PUNISHED!
FEELING WILL GET YOU IN TROUBLE!
STOP FEELING … OR ELSE!

How can parents teach what they don’t know?
It’s not fair to expect them to.
And so we must forgive.

When I was a kid, I had long hair as I do now, and I used to want to have my Mom braid my hair and help me to do things with it. She didn’t have that skill. I remember asking her to braid my hair when I was about 15. She tried to get out of it, warning me that she just wasn’t good at it, but I insisted. So, my Mom did as requested and, you know what? She was right. She wasn’t very good at it. That was when I finally got it. Don’t ask her to do something she’s not good at. It’s not a loving thing to do.

I say, don’t go to the hardware store for frozen yogurt because they don’t have it. (Although, I do think it would be a hot seller. Mostly guys who are working hard go to the hardware store and they often like a snack.)

We must forgive our parents for not being able to help us with the things they don’t know about. WE are the generation that is turning the tide. We must forgive ALL so that we can get on with the business of teaching only Love. There’s no more productive way.

One of the things that we’ve found so helpful in Masterful Living is to learn to feel our feelings. It takes real effort for most of us to allow ourselves to actually pause in the midst of things and feel what’s going on.

Our feelings indicate our thought patterns. Thoughts come before feelings. It may not seem like it, but our thoughts reflect our belief systems and that’s what will determine how we interpret our life and what we think.

Someone can tell me I’m an idiot, but it won’t bother me if I don’t believe it. I won’t even remember that it happened if there’s no hook of belief. These false beliefs can be healed if we will allow it.

I’ve carried feelings of shame about something I said or did for decades that no one else remembers.

I remember when I was about 27 years old, I went to a friend’s home and they had just had made slipcovers for their couch. My friend had made them himself. I was a smoker then and I accidentally dropped my cigarette on their sofa and burned a hole right through their brand new sofa. I felt so bad and ashamed for that. 20 years later I brought it up to them and they had no memory of it at all. 20 years of feeling bad and ashamed. All of my own making.

Feelings are so helpful to us, but on our own, they’re overwhelming.

That’s why I feel so compelled to support people in bringing these healing opportunities into our lives and making it easy, attractive, appealing and even fun to move through things fully and completely so we can free up all that stuck energy. That’s what Masterful Living is for.

It takes motivation to make a change. For me, my motivation was misery and pain. I worked with that until I caught a spark of inspiration and began to see that I could really make a difference in my own life, and in the lives of my family and others.

One of my goals is to inspire people to do this inner healing work so they can do it more joyfully.

The purpose statement at the Power of Love Ministry is:

Our one goal is to support people who are actively interested in walking their talk, living the Love and awakening so they can teach only Love and be truly helpful. We’re doing it together!

This year we’ve taken steps further along the path of offering more classes with more teachers and training Teachers, Ministers, Prayer Practitioners and Spiritual Counselors and they are blooming and blossoming into POWERFUL light workers with SO MUCH to offer and share.

This has always been a teaching ministry – to teach only Love and how to really live that. We are sharing what we’re learning and it’s spreading. Each year we’re offering new classes by new teachers, and we’re certifying more and more spiritual counselors and helping them have a successful business.

What I’ve come to see is that there are so many beautiful light workers who have felt hesitant because they don’t feel fully qualified and they don’t feel fully capable and empowered to do the work they feel called to do.

Of course they feel hesitant if they still are holding onto shame, blame, resentment, regret, guilt, hurt and jealousy from the past.

I get it. For so many years I had a dream of being truly helpful, but I didn’t feel qualified or capable to really GO FOR IT. I didn’t feel worthy.

Now, I know why.
The unforgivness gets in the way.
How can we feel worthy of being the Light of the world when we’re harboring all this darkness?

Our spiritual practice and the work that we’re doing in Masterful Living (which is the foundation for all the trainings) dissolves and resolves that sense of unworthiness so that people feel capable and qualified to share what they’re learning.

My prayer is that the expansion we’re planning for 2020 will be everything that Spirit intends for it to be and that many, many more thousands of people will be inspired to truly live and practice the teachings of truth in A Course in Miracles.

My prayer is that my own awakening and our collective awakening is brought forth with more ease and grace. That we give up the resistance to Love and to being loving and choose to demonstrate our true nature, which is perfect Love.

Together, we awaken one choice at a time.
Real people.
Real miracles.
Proving that God works in our lives and we are not alone.

It’s all about Self-forgiveness. When we forgive ourselves we can let the past go and put all of our energy into expressing our true nature which is perfect Love.

And then we can truly help all of our brothers and sisters and most especially the children! By demonstrating and teaching only Love, all around us are inspired and uplifted to do things differently. This is why we so much family healing for those in Masterful Living classes.

We can each be a powerful beacon of Love and Light – this is what our calling is.
Everything is pre-installed.
We already have the kingdom within.

Being masterful with our emotions and relationships is just one of the important and valuable things we practice in my yearlong Masterful Living Course. Finding A Better Way

Saturday, January 11th, 2020

I used to be so tough on the outside and so vulnerable on the inside. My deep sense of vulnerability made me very defensive. I also would get out in front of any perceived attack by being the attacker. I was on high alert ALL of the time, and it was exhausting!

In my life experience, one of the most common things I see is that people get hurt and offended, and then they feel justified in attacking back. AND the really intense part of that whole painful mess is that it happens so fast that we don’t even really know what’s going on.

If we’d like to get to the bottom of it and turn the ship around, we have to have a great willingness to let the upset go in favor of Peace. Most people don’t have enough motivation. For me, Self-Love became my great motivation. I actively choose to Love myself, and so not being at Peace is not worth it. It’s an attack upon my very Self.

When I look deeply into things, there can be a great heart opening and a change.

Example: I FINALLY learned how to handle the times when I feel threatened with spiritual maturity. Now, if I have a moment with a loved one and I feel the old impulse to defend or attack, I can make a new choice.

I’ve learned when the thing to do at that moment is to withdraw and just let it all be.

I can give it up to Spirit to teach me about the meaning of it and the value of whatever’s going on.

I know that everything works together for good and there are no exceptions. When I take a step back, before too long I can remember that this person says snarky comments to everyone they love and it’s not personal to me. I could really feel that was true, and that felt like healing to me.

Now I can go back to the person with a new attitude. I can return to the scene of the “crime,” so glad and grateful that I hadn’t retaliated or escalated in any way. This leaves the door open to a closer connection and more intimacy in my relationships – which I enjoy greatly.

What I’ve come to see is that my willingness to stay cool, to not be offended, and instead have compassion is also an extension of compassion to my former self who was CONSTANTLY making snarky comments.

Also, I see that my willingness to not be hurt and to go back into the “fray” is an affirmation of my loving acceptance of myself and my loved one, and that brought more Love between us.

I am so grateful I can choose a better way.

It’s a moment-by-moment practice that builds our mastery and keeps our Peace. It’s beautiful!

Being masterful with our emotions and relationships is just one of the important and valuable things we practice in my yearlong Masterful Living Course. Self-Healing

Friday, January 10th, 2020

Let me be clear, I do not have the ability to change anyone’s life but my own. I really don’t. Many times people give me credit for changing their life, but I don’t deserve it.

I do SO appreciate that people value what I share and employ it in their lives to make a real and lasting difference in their happiness, their well being, their relationships, and their families. But I am not responsible for anyone’s miracles but my own.

And still, each and every one of us can bring SO MUCH benefit to another just by sharing their life experience in an authentic and humble way.

Yesterday, I had a couple of conversations with folks who have been SO influenced by the life of Anand Deoskar who passed away last October. He’d been in Masterful Living with us for four years.

Anand had so much growth and transformation over the years and he shared it on his sleeve – he let everyone know, with great humility, his journey of healing and awakening. He experienced real miracles of shifts in his thinking brought on by his willingness to let his opinions go, and his active choice to be loving with himself and others.

Anand was quite transparent about his journey. It was inspiring to all of us who knew him.

In our Masterful Living Community, one of the most precious gifts we share with each other is the gift of letting people REALLY get to know us. We allow ourselves to be seen, and when that happens, we can really be loved.

When we hide in our relationships, then it’s hard for people to really love us because they don’t get to really see us and be with us. When we hold back and behave the way we think people would like us to behave, we’re not able to be fully loved because people don’t get to really experience us.

There’s so much healing when we realize that being authentic doesn’t mean saying everything we think and feel. But it also doesn’t mean hiding things.

We can be authentic and transparent, and it helps us to realize that we are COMPLETELY lovable. Realizing that we are lovable is healing for everyone.

Self-healing is world healing.

The reason we can be so authentic and transparent in Masterful Living is that we’re in a community of like-minded souls who are willing to practice non-judgment. We make it a safe space for anyone to share. And when they do, they are beautiful and inspiring. Their magnificence shows.

Being authentic and transparent is just one of the important and valuable things we practice in my yearlong Masterful Living Course. We actively practice healing the sense of separation that keeps us disconnected from Spirit. We cultivate the relationship with Spirit. We transform the most painful parts of our life.

Real people having real miracles.

Healing the Cause of Worry

Thursday, January 9th, 2020

Look, I’ll be honest with you. I used to feel like a victim.

I was a victim of all the things that were happening in the world that I didn’t like.

I was a complainer. I complained about all the things that were happening in the world that I didn’t like.

I made myself miserable with all my complaints. I decided to stop making myself miserable, and I made a commitment to Self-Love.

That commitment required me to realize that my misery was not a result of what was happening in the world, my misery was the result of my thoughts ABOUT what was happening in the world.

My complaints were a symptom of the underlying fear I had.

Fear, worry and anxiety are all caused by stinking thinking.

Worry and anxiety are the direct results of beliefs that CAN be changed.

Fear-based thinking is NOT the result of things happening in the world – and it never will be.

It’s easy to assume that we’re thinking fearful thoughts because of our experiences, but this world just doesn’t work that way.

The mind doesn’t work that way.

First, we have a belief and THEN we have an experience that reflects that belief – and then we interpret the experience to prove our belief is true. But it doesn’t prove our belief is TRUE – it only proves that we are investing in that belief, consciously or unconsciously.

It’s so important to be willing to get this and to apply it throughout our days.

Applying this teaching from A Course in Miracles brings great relief from emotional and mental suffering.

It takes practice.
It takes effort.
It takes willingness.
It takes determination.

What could be more worth the investment than ending your fear, doubt and worry?

I can’t think of anything, can you?

Living a peaceful life is just one of the important and valuable things we practice in my year-long Masterful Living Course. We actively practice healing the sense of separation that keeps us disconnected from Spirit. We cultivate the relationship with Spirit. We transform the most painful parts of our life.

Peace

Wednesday, January 8th, 2020

A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson #34 is “I could see peace instead of this.”

In this lesson, Jesus tells us, “Peace of mind is clearly an internal matter. It must begin with your own thoughts and then extend outward. It is from your peace of mind that a peaceful perception of the world arises.”

Peace begins with us.

It BEGINS in our minds. Or, it seems to dissipate in our minds. We choose.

I find it so helpful to remember that my natural state is Peace.

If I’m not experiencing Peace, it’s because I’m choosing something else.

When the world seems to be acting crazy, that’s the time for us to hold to our sanity.

Many people are seeking Peace by trying to manipulate the world to be more peaceful. It’s not a method that works.

We seek not to change the world, but to change our minds about the world in order to be a beneficial presence in the world.

The way that Peace is brought forth is to change our minds.

To discipline our mind. This takes real time and attention, and it absolutely requires that we Partner UP with Spirit to bring it into manifestation.

This is what spiritual practice is all about.

If we don’t deepen our practice when war is threatened, then when will we practice?

If we don’t deepen our practice when our lives are falling apart, then when will we practice?

It’s because we don’t practice that Spirit brings us events and situations that squeeze us so hard that we will finally go to Spirit for the Source of all, or we’ll collapse trying.

We are the deciders of what we will choose.
I choose Peace today and every day.
I ain’t going to study war no more.

Always remember: the ends are in the means.

We cannot get to Peace through war.

ACIM tells us, “You recognize you want the goal. Are you not also willing to accept the means?”

To have Peace, be Peace.

We cannot attack, blame and shame those who aren’t peaceful and remain peaceful. We cannot have Peace while we’re attacking.

Let us BE the Peace from now on.
Let us develop the courage and strength to BE peaceful and share the benefits with the world.

Now is our time to be disciplined in our minds so that we can rise and shine and be truly helpful. There is no better time than NOW!

Living a peaceful life is just one of the important and valuable things we practice in my yearlong Masterful Living Course. We actively practice healing the sense of separation that keeps us disconnected from Spirit. We cultivate the relationship with Spirit. We transform the most painful parts of our life.

Speed Up Your Spiritual Awakening

Tuesday, January 7th, 2020

Is there a single practice that will change your life and speed up your awakening? Yes, there is. A Course in Miracles tells us that the practice is forgiveness, specifically, SELF-forgiveness.

If you’re seeing your life-improving steadily and beautifully,
If you’re feeling lighter and happier,
If you’re feeling more connected to Spirit,
Then you are definitely practicing Self-forgiveness.
Congratulations!

If you’re studying lots of books and listening to lots of audios, but you’re not feeling happier, lighter and more successful as a spiritual student, Self-forgiveness is the tool to use.

Self-forgiveness goes so much deeper than most people realize – it certainly goes FAR deeper than I ever realized, and I’ve learned SO MUCH in the last 20 years of teaching Self-forgiveness.

There are SO MANY practices we can apply to speed up our spiritual awakening, but none is so helpful as is making the decision that you truly are interested in awakening from the dream of separation.

Once you make that decision, Self-forgiveness becomes your constant companion.

The dream of separation will lull us into a deep slumber of suffering.

Separation thinking shows up as ALL of our experiences of having problems and living in lack and limitation. When we believe we’re separate, we experience lack and limitation. This need not be. AND we must forgive ourselves for perpetuating the very habits, beliefs, and patterns that have caused our pain and sense of loss.

“Yet where are dreams but in a mind asleep? And can a dream succeed in making real the picture it projects outside itself? Save time, my brother; learn what time is for. And speed the end of idols in a world made sad and sick by seeing idols there. Your holy mind is altar unto God, and where He is no idols can abide. The fear of God is but the fear of loss of idols.”
~ A Course in Miracles, T-29.VII.9.

Our idols can be our complaints and grievances. Idols can be the ways we become so attached to doing things our way rather than placing our faith and trust in Spirit. We can shift that.

We CAN really speed up our healing, and that’s the great gift we can all give ourselves.

When we give ourselves this gift of deep spiritual practice, we share all the benefits with everyone.

That’s why our family, friends, and co-workers begin to have healing, too. We’re all sharing the same mind.

The development of trust is just one of the things we practice in my yearlong Masterful Living Course. We actively practice healing the sense of separation that keeps us disconnected from Spirit. We cultivate the relationship with Spirit. We transform the most painful parts of our life.
