My Crucial 1st Step

Thursday, November 5th, 2020

Yesterday, with my Prayer Partners and in my Masterful Living class, we were talking about the election.  Of course we were, we were talking about it all over the world.

I’ll be honest, Tuesday night I felt concerned.  I had a sudden urge for ice cream, a little comfort food.  I asked myself what would I do if the election didn’t go the way I wished it would.

Emotionally and mentally, I needed to be able to see myself taking steps to recover from my disappointment if that happened.  I’m proactive, I’m not going to stay in disappointment, so I needed to know what would I do to move through it.

I recognize, I definitely have an attachment to the outcome of the election, and I am ACTIVELY releasing that, and I have come to the point where I can be at Peace no matter what.

In terms of what I would do, it’s my spiritual practice.  That’s my go to.

Without an effective spiritual practice my life would be so unpleasant.

Without my spiritual practice and my spiritual community, I would be going up and down like a roller coaster and back and forth a yo yo – that’s how I used to live.  Like I’m in a little boat being tossed about on a very big and unpredictable ocean.

I remember what it feels like to have my happiness tied to life’s ever-changing circumstances.

I’m never, EVER going back to living that way.

I’m sure that’s why Spirit gave me the mantra:  “walking the talk, and living the Love,” and an effective spiritual practice to go along with it.

Key to my practice is knowing, and constantly, consistently, affirming this:

I am calling forth the highest and best for myself.

I am choosing the most loving choices I can find.

I am aware that the highest and best for ANYONE is the highest and best for EVERYONE because we’re one with each other.

I may not like everything, but if I’m willing I can accept that somehow, and in some way, this is for my good and I’m going to receive it that way EVEN IF I don’t like it.

I no longer reject my good – I accept it.

Spirit is leading me and guiding me every day, all the way, to the highest and best, most loving choices and I AM sharing the benefits with everyone because I AM one with them!

If I don’t walk the talk throughout my day, I won’t have the Peace I have now.  I’ll be back to living off-balance and getting on and off the pain train.

I’ve learned that a certain amount of spiritual practice in the beginning of my day and at the end, to book end my day won’t cut it.

Of course, spiritual practice like that is really enjoyable and really helpful, and it’s what I do, but it’s not enough to give me the Peace I have with an effective spiritual practice that I use all day.

Walking the talk and living the Love is an all-day spiritual practice that I am IN throughout all days.

There’s an important first step to being able to really see the value of walking the talk and living the Love, and I made a video about it.  It’s part of a series I’ve made and you can get access to the whole series (my gift to you).

Seeing With Divine Sight

Wednesday, November 4th, 2020

One of the things we were talking about in Masterful Living class yesterday is how so many spiritual students will approach their entire spiritual journey as though they are trying to become more holy. They’re trying to eliminate their sinfulness.

The only problem is that they’re not sinners. None of us are.

No matter what we’ve done, or not done that ego pretends is a sin, we’re still not sinners.

It’s hard to believe in our innocence when lifetime after lifetime we’ve been indoctrinated as sinners. A Course in Miracles tells us that one of the most chaos inducing beliefs we can have is the one that has us believe that we’re sinners, but we’re not.

When we can see with Divine Vision, we’ll see that there is no sin.

There is no stain on our permanent record.

And, there’s no stain on ANYONE’S permanent record.

There is no punishment, but what Love does is it calls correct.

Love offers correction.

Another way to say that is that we experience our karma – which isn’t a punishment, ever. God does not punish. Our karma is neither punishment nor reward. Karma is, in many respects, a teaching.

When we make loving choices we learn through loving results and experiences.
When we make unloving choices we learn through pain.

Let us change our mind about punishment. Let us release any idea that someone should be punished for any reason whatsoever. Instead, let us call for their mind to be corrected.

After all, Spirit doesn’t punish, only the ego thoughts are of punishment.

Let’s put punishment behind us and choose Divine Vision instead.

This is our choice on the path of growth to spiritual maturity.

Sometimes we stumble and fall, but if we’re knocked down, we get up again. And again. And again and again and we don’t ever stop getting up.

I’m writing this before bed, long before the election results are well in, so I’m not commenting on that. I only encourage you to remember that nothing real can be threatened.

May truth be revealed and Love prevail.

COMING UP NEXT:  Are you interested in Spiritual Counseling or just developing your relationship skills?  You might be interested in my Spiritual Counseling Training Intensive November 15 to 21st.  I’ll be doing this intensive training in-person (in New Hampshire where there’s very little virus) and, for the first time ever online – so you can join from anywhere.  If you’re curious, but not sure, book an exploratory call with a spiritual counselor to learn more.

Changing Everything

Sunday, October 25th, 2020

I can remember so many years, heading into the winter solstice, with the days getting consistently shorter, my birthday, the holidays and the winter itself, would bring a certain kind of feeling similar to PTSD, for what I’d experienced in the past.

I used to go into the holidays EXPECTING to be disappointed.  I used to anticipate that I’d be revisiting the same painful hurts and memories as previous years.

I would look for the offenses and upsets that matched my experience in the past so I could reinvigorate the painful meaning I’d made of things in the past.  And then I’d get to be right all over again.

Not happy, but right.

Can you relate?

I’ve found this is a common theme for people, and for those of us in the northern hemisphere it starts now.  In the USA we have Thanksgiving at the end of November, plus my birthday.  Thanksgiving is the biggest family holiday we have.  The day before, is always the biggest single travel day in the USA all year long, which is an incredibly stressful way to begin a holiday.

So many triggers, so little time.

But I have a different experience now.

First of all, it’s been years since there was pain and upsets at the holidays in my life.

This year, very few will be traveling – which will be very sad for many Americans – we’re missing our families.  Thank God for Zoom!

I can remember when I used to visit family and after 3 days I’d start to feel sad and depressed.

I’d start thinking:  “Why do I keep doing this to myself?

Why do I keep thinking that I can stay for a week when I start to feel depressed after just a few days?

Why do I keep repeating the same madness expecting a new experience?

What’s wrong with me?”

And on and on.

So many triggers – so little time.

Here’s what changed everything for me:  Taking responsibility.

As part of my deciding not to be focused on judging, complaining, constantly criticizing, and looking for problems, I began to start to look for ways to extend compassion and kindness.

When offense was taken, I committed to being the one who would go first and make amends.

I stopped taking everything personally because I started to see all my attacks on others were more about me than about them.

And then, as my mind started becoming more kind and loving, I began to see that none of my attacks were about them and ALL of them were about me.

None of this happened over night.

It was slow and gradual change over MANY YEARS.

But the super cool thing is that I realized every change I made rippled out to my family and friends.

I could be the one who decided whether or not I was pissed off and hurt.  The upset couldn’t happen without my agreement!

It was me.  I was the one I had to forgive for having made my life into a portal to hell.

I studied spirituality for nearly 20 years feeling that truth was an ever-illusive mystery that I just couldn’t get to.  For me, truth was just beyond one more door that I was trying to pry open.  I was looking outside myself for insight, thinking that an intellectual approach would bring me what I was looking for, because my intellect had always (or so I thought!) helped me in the past.

I’d figured out my problems in the past.

I could figure out how to get connected to Spirit.

I didn’t know that the intellect is a tool of the ego.

But, through my deep desire of the heart to truly know Spirit, and to truly break free of pain and suffering, I was led and guided.  It was ONLY my willingness that helped me to see through the bushes and brambles of ego blocks and subterfuge.

I now LOVE this time of year for a whole new set of reasons!  Check this out:

From September into January, I get to have 1 on 1 appointments with all the folks who are in my year-long Masterful Living Course.  When we talk early in the year, things are challenging.  It’s not so easy.  People are looking deeply into their patterns and habits to eliminate the causes of suffering.  Some people experience it with a lot of Joy and Freedom, but not all.  Some begin having many miracles all at once.  But that’s not true for everyone.  Some folks find it super challenging and they are heroic in their not giving up.

I’ve been having 1 on 1’s with the folks in this community for years now and it’s such a pleasure, especially this time of year.  By now, most people in Masterful Living are telling me their successes in how this year has been so life-changing for them.  They’re telling me how differently they feel about themselves and their life.  They tell me stories of marriages that are experiencing a rebirth of Love, and relationships with family that are getting better every day.  They’re looking forward to doing the holidays differently.

And, because we have people who continue doing the work together with me and the community for years, I get to celebrate the long term AMAZING transformation of their lives, careers, families, finances and more.

When someone is absolutely convinced that they are unlovable,

and now they know it’s not true,

that changes every minute

of every day

of the rest of their lives –

and for those around them as well.

I love listening to a beloved member of this community share how they made a decision to do something differently in their workplace because they just wanted to be nicer to the people in their lives.  Over the course of a year, their shifts change the entire culture of their workplace.  Then, their co-workers take home a different attitude and they share that with their family.  Their children take that with them to school, and then the other kids in their class take that home to their family and that’s how the world changes.

A Course in Miracles says:  Seek not to change the world, but to change your mind about the world.

It works!

That’s why I’m committed to proving it.

I absolutely LOVE the last third of the year.  It’s four months of reaping the rewards and celebrating the benefits.  They aren’t dark months anymore.  There’s nothing to fear anymore.  It’s win-win all the way!

AND – this year it feels quite different, because mixed into that celebratory experience is an awareness of the intense challenges that so many all over the world are having.  More than ever, this is a time for us to cling to our spiritual practice and deepen it beyond anything we ever thought was possible.

A greater commitment to walking the talk and living the Love lifts us all.

You can still join our 40 Day Meditation Challenge at any point, it’s free – all are welcome.  You can join us every Sunday for Sundays with Spirit – it’s free.  We can do this together and lift each other!

Developing Trust

Saturday, October 24th, 2020

For me personally, one of the most valuable sections in A Course in Miracles is Manual for Teachers, Chapter IV, section A.  Development of Trust.

It’s really worth studying and I tell everyone in Masterful Living to read it every day for a week and then once a week thereafter.

This section maps out our journey in consciousness, and I find it helpful to see that there is a map – and that we’re not experiencing random acts of insanity.  There is a higher plan, and it’s WORKING.

Fundamentally, this section tells us that if we’re making false idols of things in our life, that are distracting us from the life we’re meant to live, and detouring us from our awakening, things may be taken away from us, only so that we can realize they had no real value and they were, in fact, a delay in our happiness.

Of course, it takes great willingness to realize that the job we wanted so badly, and finally got, was actually not the best job for us and would never make us happy, therefore being fired from it is a GOOD thing.  I had that experience.

It takes great willingness to see that anything we love so much might, in fact, be misleading us and preventing from a much greater Love.

This is a world of tricks and deception, smoke and mirrors, distractions and insanity, seeking and not finding.  And, we can be determined to find our way through by listening to the one voice of the Higher Holy Spirit Self, AND, most importantly, not making our own decisions.

Let’s turn all important decisions over to the Higher Holy Spirit Self and allow ourselves to be led and guided!

We’ve got heaven as our destination and there’s that within us that does know the way!

If having a great trust and faith is something you’re interested in, you may wish to join me in Masterful Living 2021.

That’s a big focus of our program and one of it’s greatest benefits.

Stories

Thursday, October 1st, 2020

Do you ever feel like you’ll never find your way to feeling really good?  I’ve felt that way.

Have you ever felt like you’re doomed?  I’ve felt that way too.

Fortunately, these are temporary feelings of upset and pain.

If we’re willing to open our mind we can release the burden and the suffering.

A Course in Miracles tells us exactly how to free ourselves from feeling damned.  That’s what salvation is, it’s our liberation from believing all the stories we’ve made up.  We can make the choice for salvation, but sometimes we resist simply because we’ve become so identified with being wrong, bad, undesirable, and rotten that we would feel lost without that false identification.

We cling to the story we’ve made about ourselves simply because we made it.

We love the story we made up because we made it.

We love the story we made up because we’ve invested so much into it.

Would you be willing to let go of your investment in thinking you don’t deserve perfect happiness?  It’s something to honestly consider.

Who would you be if everything you believed about yourself was actually completely untrue?  Would you be okay with discovering that all your struggles were meaningless?  These are the valuable questions that A Course in Miracles asks us to consider.

Ultimately, we’ll be choosing salvation.  Saving ourselves IS saving the world.  It’s tempting.  Consider being able to  save the world without being a martyr.  If you knew you could succeed would you be willing to be the savior?  Would you be willing to be ALL IN for LOVE?

Debates

Wednesday, September 30th, 2020

Last night I was texting with friends about the Presidential debate. I had decided not to watch it – I don’t have a TV anyway, but I could have watched it live-streamed on the web if I’d wished to.

I decided not to watch because when I checked in with my body, my body was repulsed. I literally felt queasy at the thought of watching. That was a solar plexus, third chakra reaction.

This tummy response tells me that my ego would have gotten threatened had I listened to the debate and it’s better for me not to. I can know the highest and best for everyone more easily if I don’t watch the experience of “attack and defend” live.

My friends who watched live were texting me that they were upset by how it was going. My response was to remember that the Christ is within each one of us. We’re one with each other.

Let’s know the truth in order to be at Peace.

People ask me all the time about what Self-Love really is. Self-Love is me not putting myself in a situation where my judgments will get the better of me.

For me, retaining my equanimity is far more important than most other kinds of experiences.

I’ve learned that it’s important for me to check in and “fact check” my own sensory system for where I might be prejudiced by false beliefs and misperceptions.

Stoking the fire of my judgments will only hamper me and my desire for world Peace.

I truly desire world Peace.

My life is dedicated to it. I’m willing to work at the level of the mind to be fully responsible for the world I see and for the healing of it. It’s taken me a lot of work to get to this place and I intend to maintain it.

If you’d like to have a major increase in your connection with Spirit and feeling PEACE of mind, you might like my  Finding Freedom From Fear, spiritual bootcamp class with ACIM principles.  Join me and you will be able to close out this year feeling like you had one of the best years ever! Transcending Despair and Dread

Saturday, August 29th, 2020

It’s very common for people to go through a period of despair on the way to rising up out of the ego’s quagmire.  I certainly did. Despair is a systemic hopelessness.

And some people get caught in despair and dread.  It’s not a failure, but it can feel like that.  There’s the opportunity to shed the beliefs, and heal the root causes.

We don’t have to settle with dread and despair.

We don’t have to manage it or cope with it.

We can have a healing.

When we believe many of the ego thoughts and move into a place of feeling that there’s no hope for us then despair is quick to follow.

It feels natural, in a way.

If we believe the insanity of the ego we’ll feel trapped.

If we feel trapped without a way out, then we’re going to feel despair.

We can actually choose not just to be hopeful, but to be visionary.  We can hold a vision of Love for our lives.  Being willing to hold a vision can feel impossible when we’re hopeless.  I get that.

We don’t have to have a vision of total transformation, but we can.  We can just have a vision for small things that we enjoy to keep encouraging us.

Having a vision of even a small bit of happiness can make a huge difference in our life.

Spirit is such a powerful thing – and we can let it teach us how to heal the despair by giving it to Spirit for healing.

A willingness to be hopeful even about something small – like being hopeful about having your favorite ice cream or watching your favorite tv show can be transformative.

Energetically, being hopeful about ANYTHING can be life sustaining.  I find it’s very helpful to ask for a sign that we’re on the right path.

We don’t have to live in despair, that part is a choice.

Settling is a choice.

Deciding to live with it is a choice.

We may not know how to find the choice, but Spirit does.  Let’s give Spirit the heavy lifting of removing our despair and pointing the way.  Let’s ask for a sign today!

Would you like to catapult yourself forward on this healing journey?

This September, something amazing is going to happen and it’s called my Stop Playing Small Retreat – let’s get some real results and unblock the flow of Love in our lives. There’s a whole lot of healing going to happen!

I Love the Truth!

Friday, August 28th, 2020

I can handle the truth. I find it incredibly valuable.

I LOVE the Truth. I pray for the truth to be revealed every day in every way. The truth is healing and it’s liberating.

To value the truth is to value the very nature of our Creator’s constant and eternal Love which is the ultimate truth of our existence.

In truth all animosity dissolves.

I’m very blessed to be able to have a spiritual teacher who is truthful. Her name is Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo and she is a Cherokee Chief and a Buddhist. Her mind is very vast – meaning she sees way beyond time and space and helps me to see it too. I’m Cherokee by heritage and so I am grateful to connect to that stream of wisdom and learn my ancestor’s ways of spiritual expansion and awakening.

When I first started to spend 1 on 1 time with her it was in service. I would pick her up and drive her to places, sometimes spending many hours in the car with her. As a good and respectful student, I didn’t bend her ear with my questions, and I didn’t make the time together a counseling session. We got to know each other and share about life.

One of the first times that we were going somewhere in the car just the two of us, I told her this:

Please always tell me the truth. If you ever see that I’m not thinking clear or not seeing clearly, feel free to point it out. I consider that the greatest act of Love and kindness. When people see I’m headed in a wrong direction and don’t say anything to me, I realize they are not the best of friends to me.

You cannot hurt my feelings except by withholding your feedback. As a spiritual leader, I depend upon everyone around me to help me be the very most aware, and loving being I can be. I fall down and make errors every day, that’s my learning, I don’t mind that. It’s when people could help me, but they don’t, that I learn not to trust them.

You cannot offend me. Be as direct as you can that will feel like the greatest blessing and the most loving expression you can offer me. Your feedback is always welcome!

I wished to have an honest, transparent and easy relationship with her. I intended to let her know that she could be “real” with me.

After all these years, what I notice is that Venerable is always, ALWAYS teaching me by her example of what she says, and what she DOES NOT say to me and others. That’s why she’s such a good teacher to me.

There are many times I will notice that I share things with people in a subtle way, but they aren’t picking it up. That’s okay. They aren’t open to it yet. No problem. There’s no rush to transform our consciousness.

Being a devotee of truth, I’m interested in honesty and transparency, but still, people don’t have to tell me everything they feel.

Truth is my teacher.

Let truth be the master of my life and my mind.

When I am less than truthful, I feel a little energy shift.
It’s as if there’s a little energetic breeze that hints at what the truth ACTUALLY is.
I make a note.
I self-correct.
It’s a gentle and loving guide that goes with me always.

A commitment to the truth does require a willingness to be honest with yourself.

When we deceive ourselves, others will mirror that back to us.
That’s no fun.
We then decide they’ve betrayed us, but have they?
Or are they helping us to see what’s hidden?

The truth can only help us.
Let’s value the truth and no longer be afraid of it.

This September, something amazing is going to happen and it’s called my Stop Playing Small Retreat – let’s get some real results and unblock the flow of Love in our lives. There’s a whole lot of healing going to happen!

Undoing the Blocks to Learning

Monday, August 24th, 2020

One of my favorite things I get to do is to support the people in this ministry who have become or are becoming spiritual counselors, teachers and prayer practitioners. It’s such a blessing to see people fully stepping up to be truly helpful.

Last week I got to have class with the Spiritual Counselors in my Certification program and, as always, it’s a beautiful reminder of how many wonderful people there are in my life, and how much we can be truly helpful.

Yesterday, in our WONDERFUL Sundays With Spirit online celebration of Spirit, I was sharing that I’ve had a spiritual counselor to support me for coming up on 25 years. This is an important part of my life because I am sharing so much with so many, it’s important that I have help to look at my own stuff.

I say: it takes a village to raise a Minister.
And it takes a village to raise all of us.
We all benefit from having a village to support us.
With loving people around us, we’ll realize that our judgments are preventing our happiness.

A Course in Miracles tells that we cannot judge and still hope to learn.

Our judgments actually block our learning.

It makes sense when you think about it.

If we prefer to think we know what everything is for, are we open to any insights or learning?

No, we’re not, because we think we already know whatever is worth knowing. How can you be open to insight when you’ve already made up your mind what everything is for?

Have you had the experience of repeating the same errors, the same unkindness, the same self-attack, again and again, like a hamster on a wheel? I have, and my experience seemed to “prove” to me that I wasn’t very smart, that I wasn’t really learning anything from all my spiritual studies. Nothing could be further from the truth.

My experience didn’t prove my beliefs were correct. Not at all.

In fact, my experience was simply proving to me that my beliefs are made manifest as my experience.

This is so important to understand – it’s life changing.
Our unhappy experiences prove that we believe our false beliefs – the truth will set us free from repeating these unhappy experiences.

In New Thought we say, “change your thinking, change your life.” And we talk about “false beliefs.”

It’s more helpful to realize that ALL beliefs are false and truth is true.
How do you know the difference between a belief and a truth?

All beliefs are conditional.
Truth is true for everyone all the time.

Beliefs are constantly shifting and changing, like the sinking sands.
Like God itself, Truth is unchanging – it’s the rock we can safely build our house upon.

I encourage us all to look around your life and see where we might have been misled into thinking that our experiences are proving our beliefs, when, in fact, our experience is just proving the existence of our beliefs. And that’s an entirely different thing.

When we rid ourselves of our beliefs – we rid ourselves of the unpleasant experiences that our false beliefs generate. There’s no extra cost for doing this inner work, we can do it every day of our lives, and that’s what I’m most interested in – not playing small anymore, awakening to the Light.

Many, many times I’ve spoken with people who felt helpless and hopeless in their relationships and in their careers. When they become willing to change their minds and actually make the effort, they experience miracles. It really works!

How do we rid ourselves of the false beliefs?
It’s actually incredibly simple, when we’re willing to make a change.
If we’re not willing to make a change then we just keep revisiting the same painful lessons.
We cannot judge and hope to learn.

To release the false beliefs, opinions and judgments we offer them to the Higher Holy Spirit Self for healing.

We don’t have to figure out HOW to have a healing we simply ALLOW.

Sometimes we might have to release, let go and let God, 1000 or more times if we have a strong attachment to a belief. I’ve certainly had to do that with many false beliefs – and the healing happened as soon as I was really willing to let it go.

If we do the releasing a few times a day, then we’re sure to let it go before too long – anything is better than struggling with the same painful belief for years and decades.

Now is the time for us to rise and shine and throw off these meaningless burdens of false beliefs!

Healing is easier than you might think. Our willingness to Partner UP with the Higher Holy Spirit Self to do the heavy lifting is the thing that works. I know, I’ve proved it and I’ve worked with thousands who have done the same. Let’s be willing to have a healing NOW!

If you’re ready to make a change, and you’d like some REAL support to make a LASTING change, TAKE ACTION! Seeing Clearly and Correctly

Saturday, August 15th, 2020

We don’t see what we cannot see.

I used to get so annoyed with people because they weren’t observing what I thought was SO obvious.  I mean, how could they NOT see it?  It’s right there!

It was frustrating to me that people couldn’t get the things – all kinds of things – that seemed so completely obvious and “in your face” apparent to me.  It seemed to me just plain willful ignorance.  I was convinced they didn’t want to see.

Now, I’m able to realize that we just cannot see what we’re not a vibrational match for.

For instance, some people can see so many ways and opportunities to be helpful, and they can tell whether it’s their call to do something or let it be and hold the high watch.

Some people can see that people are challenged and can use some encouragement, and some people just see someone in their way.

Some people can see that someone is being so very kind and helpful to a stranger and others won’t even notice what’s occurring.

This is what Jesus was referring to when he talked about having “the eyes to see and the ears to hear.”

Our gifts and answered prayers can be right under our nose, but if we cannot recognize them, how would we know they’re there?

Many times when I’m working or writing intensely people can come in the room I’m in and start to do things for many minutes before they recognize I’m there.  They’re startled by my presence.  I can’t say for certain what it’s about, but I do feel there are times when I turn on a cloaking device in order to avoid being interrupted and many times people can’t even see me when I’m right there.

The other morning I was meditating on the porch, sitting on my yoga mat, and I’d been there for a while, completely still.  Suddenly this tiny chipmunk ran up onto the porch and towards me and was about to leap onto me when I opened my eyes and SCREAMED!  It startled and frightened us both.

The chipmunk stepped back a bit, and we just stared at each other.  We both realized all was well and we’d just had a momentary upset of no consequence.

I wanted to call him to come to me so I could pet him, but I also wanted to go back to my meditation.  And I also didn’t want him to start to come up on the porch and dig around in the plants and make a mess.

It’s a powerful and helpful skill to be able to recognize what’s going on around us, without getting caught in the difficulties people are having.  I won’t join people in worry and upset.  And I’ve learned when to offer a hand, and when not to.

Cultivating the ability to discern what’s really going on is VERY worthwhile.  It comes naturally when we’re willing to give up all attachment to judging and labeling.  It’s a magnificent trade – opinion for truth!  Let’s begin today!

Truth & Freedom

Tuesday, July 14th, 2020

I’ve been talking about liberation lately because of recording all new classes for Finding Freedom.  Still, Freedom is always on my mind, because I’m so interested in truth and it’s the truth that sets us free from illusions.

In this time of divisiveness, it’s valuable to recognize that truth is the thing that can set us free from our pain and suffering. AND truth unites us.

Let us learn to value truth greatly.

The most valuable spiritual practice that I’ve learned is non-judgment. Non-judgment might also be called compassion.  Every time we are upset, every time we are afraid, every time we are annoyed, every time we feel sad or hurt, we are really upset because of our interpretation – because of the meaning we’ve made of it, and the interpretation that we’ve given to things is our opinion, it’s our judgment.

You’ve heard the saying, “The truth will set you free.”  Well, the truth is what we really are. We are truth. God is truth. Life is truth. Love is truth.  What’s not true is our interpretation.  And so, when we are making up another story, we’re going to be upset. I call it the divine alarm clock. When we’re upset, it’s that divine alarm clock going off, letting us know we’ve moved into judgment; we’ve moved into opinion and we’ve left the truth behind.  Why would we do that?  Because it’s no longer valuable to us. Once we recognize what we’re doing, valuing what is false, we can set it aside and release our attachment to it.

It’s a rigorous practice to give up your opinions and your judgments, but people are amazed at how, in a very short period of time, they can have a lot more peace. They can literally, just by dropping their own judgments, transform all the relationships they have.

Once they get the hang of this, they realize that they are the focal point of healing in their life. They realize they are powerful – they are not helpless, they are not hopeless, life is not happening to them, and they are not a victim anymore.  They are empowered because they can make loving choices instead of judgmental choices. Instead of thinking thoughts of lack and attack, limitation and separation, they can think thoughts of joining together and sharing, being generous and being kind.

It’s a very deep spiritual practice.

It’s a trans-denominational spiritual practice, and it’s powerful.

I have worked with thousands of people around the world who have transformed their lives so quickly by practicing non-judgment.  We can heal your whole life with a dedicated practice of valuing the truth above our interpretations.

Why would we fight to be right when we know, in our heart, it’s not truth?

We relax.  We’re grateful.

We invite the truth into our mind and celebrate our willingness to choose our own liberation, our freedom from the tyranny of the inner tyrant.

Substitutes for Truth

Saturday, June 13th, 2020

It takes humility to admit I was wrong. I’ve been wrong so many times I can’t possibly remember and in the recognition of how many times I’ve had to admit I was wrong, came the humility.

Without humility, there can be no spiritual awakening, so I’m grateful for my humility even if it was hard-won.

Yes, I did find my humility through the route of humiliation – but your journey can be different.

Consider what it says in Chapter 10 of the Manual for Teachers of A Course in Miracles:

Judgment, like other devices by which the world of illusions is maintained,
is totally misunderstood by the world.
It is actually confused with wisdom,
and substitutes for truth.

From this we can learn:

The illusion of separation is maintained with judgment.
Judgment is misunderstood and confused with wisdom.
In other words, people’s opinions are misunderstood and mistaken for wisdom.

People substitute their opinions for the truth.

It’s not hard to see how this works in our experience of life.
We can turn away from this system by insisting upon the truth and not being satisfied with the illusion. The illusion will never satisfy for more than a moment.

Consider offering just one opinion to the Higher Holy Spirit Self today for healing. Just one and we’ve made progress. Every day let’s willingly offer up our judgments and bring forth the shared awareness of unity and unification.

We’ll always be glad we did it!

I like to support people who feel they may have been playing small because of their beliefs about themselves. I know this is a habit that can be undone and dissolved.

Racism

Wednesday, April 29th, 2020

I was listening to a news report about what appears to be efforts to have enforced racism in the United States and particularly a report of many things the President has done over the years that indicate he might be racist in his views. As the list, went on I suddenly started to cry which surprised me.

My tears were a sudden empathetic response to how it would feel, and how much energy it would take, to maintain those views. Higher Holy Spirit Self said “God is not a racist.” And I almost laughed. I remembered that everything I see on the screen of life, I have the power to know the truth about. That’s my job. I work for God, Inc.

The very idea that God could be racist is laughable.

It must take a HUGE amount of life-force energy to be ultra religious AND a racist.

There are false constructs, such as racism, sexism, agism, that people agree to.

The antidote is to value the truth and call for the truth to be revealed.

The truth is the same for all beings.
There are no personal versions of the truth.
Truth is constant and truth is healing.

As part of my spiritual practice, rather than be bothered or upset when people are actively perpetuating things that aren’t true, “false facts,” fake media, etc. I don’t put my energy into reacting to it because I cannot believe that it has any real power.

Instead, I call for the truth to be revealed. Heaven make it so!

ALL things work together for our good and there are no exceptions except in the opinion of the ego. This is the teaching of A Course in Miracles. This IS the teaching of Jesus, and I’m with Jesus.

He also said, what you do to the least of them, you do to me. What a beautiful way to teach the unity of all life!

The truth is our liberator, let us call for the truth to be revealed in our heart and our mind and let it ripple out across the mind of all.

Let’s start a tsunami of healing by calling for the truth to be revealed.

This is a mission of the heart.
Spirit will prevail.
Truth is being revealed.

The truth isn’t that someone is right and someone else is wrong, the truth is that we are one and inseparable. All joined in Love, this is the truth. The truth IS being revealed. We allow it and don’t declare that any other thing is occurring. We let it be revealed. Let it be. Let it be. Let it be!

Living in the Light of Truth

Sunday, April 19th, 2020

A Course in Miracles tells us that we cannot judge and still hope to learn. Our judgments actually block our learning. If we’re not learning then we’re doomed to keep suffering through the same experiences.

Right now, with so many of us self-quarantined or working under stressful conditions, it becomes even more apparent where we’re repeating the same painful experiences, and we can change that. Now.

If repeating the same painful experiences isn’t a motivation to give up judgement, I don’t know what is! Wowzer! It certainly has been a strong motivator for me.

It makes sense when you think about it. If we prefer to think we know what everything is for, are we open to any insights or learning?

No, we’re not, because we think we already know whatever is worth knowing. How can we be open to insight when we’ve already made up our mind what everything is for?

Maybe you’re like me and you’ve had the experience of repeating the same errors, the same unkindness, the same self-attack, again and again, like a hamster on a wheel. My repeating painful experiences seemed to “prove” to me that I wasn’t very smart, that I wasn’t really learning anything from all my spiritual studies.

I really did FEEL like a spiritual loser, yet nothing could be further from the truth.

My experience didn’t prove my beliefs were correct. Not at all.

In fact, my experience was simply proving to me that my beliefs are made manifest as my experience.

It is done unto me as I believe.

This was so important for me to understand – not intellectually, but in my heart, in my gut. It was life changing to really GET that.

Our unhappy experiences prove that we believe our false beliefs – the truth will set us free from repeating these unhappy experiences.

And forgiveness allows us to remember the truth.

In New Thought we say, “change your thinking, change your life.” And we talk about letting go of “false beliefs.”

Let’s be clear, and let’s not just talk.
Talking about healing isn’t the same as doing it.
Intending to be loving without following through is meaningless.

Talk is cheap.
REALLY working with your mind is rigorous. It’s relentless. It’s intense.

My willingness to really choose healing and not just talk about it came from my suffering.

My willingness to heal, opened my mind to where I was blocking the healing, not because I was a failure, but because I was failing to choose truth and Love and Light.

I’ve discovered that it’s more helpful to realize that ALL beliefs are false and truth is true.

How do you know the difference between a belief and a truth?

All beliefs are conditional.
Truth is true for everyone all the time.

Beliefs are constantly shifting and changing, like the sinking sands.
Like God itself, Truth is unchanging – it’s the rock we can safely build our house upon.

I encourage us all to look around our life and see where we might have been misled into thinking that our experiences are proving our beliefs, when, in fact, our experience is just proving the existence of our belief.

When we rid ourselves of the belief – we rid ourselves of the experience. Free at last!

Many, many times I’ve spoken with people who felt helpless and hopeless in their relationships. When they become willing to change their minds and actually make the effort, they experience miracles. It really works!

It’s so important to be willing to prove Spirit works because it does!

But if we do it a few times a day, then we’re sure to let it go before too long – ANYTHING is better than struggling with the same painful belief for years and decades and feeling like a failure most of the time.

NOW is the time for us to rise and shine and throw off these meaningless burdens of false beliefs! We have an important mission to be truly helpful to help all beings liberate from false beliefs. We are perfectly designed for this undoing.

NOW is the time for us to get to WORK.

I talk with so many light workers who have a strong desire to shine their light, and the main thing standing in their way is that they believe they’re not worthy because they haven’t completely healed their life yet.

People think they can’t be helpful to another because they’ve still got major challenges, but that’s not true. That’s a false belief. I’ve learned that Spirit will lead and guide to me those I can assist. My job is to be helpful, not to judge my worthiness or anyone else’s!

So many light workers are waiting for something magical to happen in order to feel qualified. We’re already pre-qualified. Why would Spirit direct someone to us that we’re not able to support? That would make God dysfunctional and that’s not even possible.

I’ve found that healing is usually MUCH easier than we might think if we’re willing to work at the level of the mind. No matter what the issue is, something miraculous can be revealed.

Our willingness to Partner UP with the Higher Holy Spirit Self to do the heavy lifting is the thing that works. I know, I’ve proved it and I’ve worked with thousands who have done the same. Let’s be willing to have a healing NOW!

I like to celebrate Spirit with friends and so this Sunday I’m starting live-stream Sunday services – open to all. Join me, Lisa Natoli, Jimmy Twyman and more friends. We’ll have a spiritual celebration together and if you can’t join us, you can catch the replay! Because we’re going to be live on video, you’ll have to register to get the details. All are welcome, there’s no charge.

Every day, part of my spiritual practice is to write inspiration and record a prayer to go with it. You can join me in cultivating the willingness that raises us ALL up so we can be truly helpful in this world. Please share my daily prayer with anyone who would find it helpful.

I look forward to our Sunday gathering. It means so much that we can join together and love on each other!
